Robert Dean Ferry (born May 31, 1937) is a retired American basketball player and executive.
A 6'8" center from Saint Louis University, Ferry was selected by the St. Louis Hawks with the seventh pick of the 1959 NBA Draft. Ferry played ten seasons in the NBA with the Hawks, Detroit Pistons and Baltimore Bullets, scoring 5,780 points and grabbing 3,343 rebounds. After his playing career ended, he became an assistant coach and later general manager for the Bullets, winning the NBA Executive of the Year Award in 1979 and 1982. He later had a brief stint on The NBA on NBC as an "Insider" alongside Peter Vescey in the early 1990s.
Ferry's son Danny had a thirteen-year NBA playing career and later was general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
Robert Keith "Bobby" McFerrin, Jr. (born March 11, 1950) is an American vocalist and conductor. He is best known for his 1988 hit song "Don't Worry, Be Happy". He is a ten-time Grammy Award winner, who is known for his unique vocal techniques, such as singing fluidly but with quick and considerable jumps in pitch—for example, sustaining a melody while also rapidly alternating with arpeggios and harmonies—as well as scat singing, polyphonic overtone singing, vocal basslines, and improvisational vocal percussion. He is widely known for performing and recording regularly as an unaccompanied solo vocal artist. He has frequently collaborated with other artists, from both the jazz and classical scenes.
McFerrin's song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" was a No. 1 U.S. pop hit in 1988 and won Song of the Year and Record of the Year honors at the 1989 Grammy Awards. McFerrin has also worked in collaboration with instrumentalists, including pianists Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Joe Zawinul, drummer Tony Williams, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Bryan Ferry, CBE (born 26 September 1945) is an English singer, songwriter and musician born in Washington, Tyne and Wear. His vocal style has been described as an "elegant, seductive croon". He also established a distinctive image and sartorial style; according to The Independent, in common with his contemporary David Bowie, he influenced a generation with both his music and his appearance.
Ferry came to prominence as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter with the glam art rock band Roxy Music, achieving three number one albums and ten top ten singles in the UK between 1972 and 1982. Their singles included "Virginia Plain", "Street Life", "Love is the Drug", "Dance Away", "Angel Eyes", "Over You", "Oh Yeah", "Jealous Guy" and "More Than This". Ferry began his solo career in 1973. His solo hits included "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall", "Let's Stick Together" and "This Is Tomorrow". After disbanding Roxy Music, Ferry concentrated on his solo career, releasing further singles such as "Slave to Love" and "Don't Stop the Dance".
