Islamic Mathematics-Or Indian Mathematics?-Part 4-Brahmagupta the teacher of Arabs
The purpose of this series of videos is to reveal the truth of the Islamic science. Of late Muslims have descended into another level of ignorance and have started arguing about the Islamic science supposedly coming from the Quran. But in truth the rapid expansion of the Islamic empire brought various kafir people under the Islamic state and brought Muslims in touch with the powerful ancient civilizations of China and India( India would be ravaged later on by Islamic hordes). Then began the fusion of knowledge of the ancients which gave birth to the brief and only one Islamic golden age of scientific advances. The source of Islamic science is not Quran but the works of kafirs, pagans and idolaters of India, Greece,China etc. WATCH my previous videos in this series- Islam-Islamic Science-Part 1-Al Khwarizmi and Indian Mathematics Islam-Islamic Science-Part 2-True origins of Zero, Modern Numerals,Higher Trigonometry etc-I Islam-Islamic Science-Part 3-True origins of Zero, Modern Numerals, Higher Trigonometry etc-II Islam-Islamic Science-Part 4-Arab Contribution and some Random Thoughts Islam-Islamic Science-Part 5-Who Educated Muslims and Myth of Liberation of Sindh Islam-Islamic Science-Part 6-West and Islamic Science Islam and Mathematics-Or Indian Mathematics?-Part 1 Islam and Mathematics-Or Indian Mathematics?-Part 2-Aryabhata Islamic Mathematics-Or Indian Mathematics?-Part 3-Bhaskara I & II

Brahmagupta- (Extra Credit Math Video)
Nah and Em needed some extra credit for their Pre-Calc class. We didn't want to each write our paper on some nerdy math guy....so we made a video on one instead! Sorry about the bad quality, we worked with what we had. Enjoy!

1 The Story of Numbers (0 and 1) Indian Numerals or Arabic?
The Zero, decimal system, Indian numerals, astronomy, astrology, trigonometry, ayurveda, chemistry, everything even dream-analysis are some of the numerous contributions of scholars from India. Unfortunately, the bias has always been against giving no credit whatsoever to the Indian mind. For instance, I was taught in school that the numerals we use are "Arabic Numerals". Why? Why the shameless lying instead of giving credit where it is due for monumental discoveries? The story of numbers is the story of civilization. Terry Jones ("Monty Python's Flying Circus") goes on a humor-filled journey to recount the amazing tale behind Indian numerals. Interesting Facts: * Baudhayana gave the 'Pythagoras theorem' centuries before the Greeks in 800 BC. * Pingala (400 BC) invented the binary number system which is the basic of computer operations. * Indian astronomer, Aryabhatta was the first to have propounded the theory that the earth was a sphere in the 5th century. * Indian astronomer, Brahmagupta, estimated in the 7th century that the circumference of the earth was 5000 yojanas. A yojana is around 7.2 kms. Calculating on this basis we see that the estimate of 36000 kms as the earth's circumference comes quite close to the actual circumference known today.

WT69: What is geometry really about?
What is geometry really about? Is it pictures or visual patterns? Or constructions? Or simply theorems? In this lecture, we suggest that geometry is, at its heart, actually something else... We will also have a look at a lovely result for four collinear points, generalizing the Triple quad formula, and related to Brahmagupta's area formula for cyclic quadrilaterals. This video is part of the WildTrig series, which introduces Rational Trigonometry and applies it to many different aspects of geometry.

MathHistory5a: Number theory and algebra in Asia
After the later Alexandrian mathematicians Ptolemy and Diophantus, Greek mathematics went into decline and the focus shifted eastward. This lecture discusses some aspects of Chinese, Indian and Arab mathematics, in particular the interest in number theory (Pell's equation, the Chinese remainder theorem, and algebra. Most crucial was the introduction of the Hindu-Arabic number system that we use today. We also discuss the influence of probably the most important problem of the mathematical sciences from a historical point of view: understanding the motion of the night sky, in particular the planets. This motivated work in trigonometry, particularly spherical trigonometry, of both Indian and Arab mathematicians. Prominent mathematicians whose work we discuss include Sun Zi, Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara I and II, al-Khwarizmi, al-Biruni and Omar Khayyam.

Suppression of Science by Religions- The Atheist Experience #511
Video annotations: -Aristarchus (~250BC) proposed the heliocentric model but it was rejected, he also believed the stars to be very far away, and the Sun being larger than the Earth. -Eratosthenes (~200BC) calculated the circumference of the Earth with an accuracy higher than 98% -The Greeks also made a device called the Antikythera mechanism (a non-electronic computer for predicting eclipses- a MUST SEE). -All this more than 2000 years ago -Zero was not invented by Arabs, the Arabs adopted it from the Indians, the Europeans adopted it from the Arabs- who got credit for what the Indians had done. -Zero defined and used in Brahmagupta's book: Brahmasputha Siddhanta (The Opening of the Universe ~630AD) -Some parts of the middle east were under attack by Christian fanatics which also may have contributed to the increased fanaticism of Muslims at the time (just as the 9/11 attack may have triggered an increased fanaticism of some Christians today- more creationism for teh young).
Counting... with ALL the numbers lol
Counting was a user created level from Kongregate.com by saltonthetable. I'm not sure all the pepper was in the shaker either lol. The in-level floating message says "Can you count to Ten?" At first glance, one could be forgiven for thinking this was some sort of semi-rhetorical question; however, after attempting to run the level, it becomes clear in retrospect that this was a plea for help lol. His level goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9 1 with each of the numbers occupying a column and a huge gap and empty column where 8 should have been. I like the number 8, but maybe he has something against the poor number. After nine... well... He apparently has never heard of Brahmagupta. The Olmec and Mayan civilizations used zero as a separate number as early as the 1st century BC, but this usage did not spread beyond Mesoamerica. The use of the numeral zero in modern times originated with the Indian mathematician Brahmagupta in 628. Our modern positional number system would be almost useless without zero as a place holder, unless we used the term nullus like the Romans did. So, to help the poor fellow out and save what was an interesting level up to that point, I added an 8 and put a 10 after the nine. Here's to hoping that with his shoes, socks and pants off he could count to 21 lol. If you wish to try the level here is the Kongregate.com link: www.kongregate.com Asalways, my videos, levels and comments are: A Justin Bieber Free Zone™ This Zone is my Invention, as is a pic of Bieber with ...
