She launched her career in her hometown of Detroit where she crossed paths and performed wtih Bob Seger and Leon Russell. After moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma to further her career, she was invited to join Eric Clapton's band. A member of EC’s band from 1974 to 1978 and 1984-1985, she was also his most frequent song-writing partner. They co-wrote “Innocent Times”, “Lay Down Sally”, “The Core”, and “Roll It” and Eric recorded “Hungry”, a song Marcy co-wrote with Dick Simms, another EC band member. After Marcy Levy left the band, Eric continued to record her compositions including “Tangled In Love.” In 1988, Marcy formed Shakespears Sister with former Bananarama member Siobhan Fahey. The duo enjoyed much chart success, including eight consecutive weeks at Number 1 in the UK charts with the song "Stay." It is still the longest running number one for a female band in the UK. A solo career followed with even more chart success, including the highly acclaimed "I Believe" from Marcy’s album, "Jewel." Other records include "feeler,” "Dancing Madly Sideways," and a return to her blues roots with "The Upside of Being Down." Known to his fans as LJ, he has recorded more than two dozen albums which spotlight his unique touch and tone on acoustic guitar. His latest release, The Fab 4th, is his fourth album in a continuing series of arrangements for solo guitar of Beatles songs. As a studio musician, LJ can be heard on recordings from artists as diverse as Harry Styles, Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks, and Seal. The idea for Turn up for Recovery (TUFR) came to founder, Melia Clapton, she wanted to tackle the stigma around addiction and alcoholism and raise awareness about the power of abstinence based recovery.
