Rabat, Morocco's Capital City - Sam's Exotic Travels of 2011
Rabat was my favorite of all Morocco cities visited. It combines many historical sites with modern buildings and train system - a clean city with friendly people. Definitely worth visiting. Here's some facts per Wikipedia: Rabat, literally "Fortified Place" is the capital and third largest city of the Kingdom of Morocco with a population of approximately 650000 (2010). It is also the capital of the Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer region. The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. On the facing shore of the river lies Salé, Rabat's bedroom community. Together with Temara the cities account for a combined metropolitan population of 1.8 million. Silting problems have diminished the Rabat's role as a port; however, Rabat and Salé still maintain important textile, food processing and construction industries. In addition, tourism and the presence of all foreign embassies in Morocco serve to make Rabat one of the most important cities in the country.

Mercedes Benz W115 1975 - Marina Bouregreg HD
This is a Test drive of Black Devil in Morocco , a 1975 Mercedes Benz W115 featured four-cylinder engines 240D originally The Mercedes-Benz W114 and W115 models are a series of coupes and sedans introduced in 1968 by Mercedes-Benz, manufactured through model year 1976, and distinguished in the marketplace by nameplates designating their engines. W114 models featured six-cylinder engines and were marketed as the 230, 250, and 280, while W115 models featured four-cylinder engines and were marketed as the 200, 220, 230, and 240. All were styled by Paul Bracq, featuring a three-box design. At the time, Mercedes marketed sedans in two size classes, with the W114/W115, positioned below the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Beginning in 1968, Mercedes marketed their model range as New Generation Models,[2] giving their ID plates the designation '/8' (due to their 1968 Launch year). Because they were the only truly new cars of the so-called 'New Generation' and because of the '/8' or 'slash eight' designation, W114 and W115 models ultimately received the German nickname Strich Acht, loosely translated into the English Slash Eight. The W114/W115 models were the first post-war Mercedes-Benz production car to use a newly engineered chassis, not derived from preceding models. The new chassis format of semi-trailing rear arms and ball-joint front end, first displayed in the W114/W115 chassis would be used in all new Mercedes passenger car models until the development of the multi-link rear ...

RABAT Morocco
Rabat was once the centre of power of the Almohades. Today it is the capital of Morocco and the government headquarters of King Mohammed The Sixth. The majority of its buildings are linked to the country's historic past and its former sovereigns including the Mausoleum of Mohammed The Fifth. Opposite the Mausoleum is one of the city's best-known landmarks, the Hassan Tower, that rises 44 metres into the sky. In the picturesque quarter of the Kasbah Des Ordains with its whitewashed houses and sky-blue doors and window frames, is the city's oldest mosque. When Marrakech became the country's capital city, Rabat gradually fell into decline until when in 1609, Andalusian Muslims and Jews settled here. An increasing number of people inhabited the Kasbah. The administrative area and likewise named parade ground of Mechouar in the southwest of the town is part of the Cite Royale, a town within a town. Beyond the city's defensive walls, the ancient ruins of Chellah are a reminder of both Pre-Christian and Pre-Islamic times. During the 3rd century BC, the Carthaginians built their first trading establishment here that was later extended and became the famous Roman harbor of Sala. Due to its rich history, architecture and unique ambience, each year this royal city, at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River, enchants thousands of visitors from all over the world.

Rabat, population 2 million, is the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg.
Rabat is considered Morocco's most conservative city. The nation's capital displays civilized orderliness more akin to Europe, with its citizens quietly going about their business, void of the frantic pace experienced in other African and Arabic capitals. For some this conservativeness lacks attraction, and Rabat is often overlooked in many travelers' itineraries. However, upon investigation, this low-profile yet cosmopolitan city offers a well-proportioned package of sights, restaurants, and history within the walls of its easily negotiated and largely hassle-free centre ville, medina, and kasbah. Spend a day or two exploring Rabat's relatively clean but still maze-like medina, its adjoining cliff-top kasbah, and the tree-lined boulevards of the French-designed centre ville, and you'll discover the city's fascinating past.
