Pixar's Renderman Tutorial mit Autodesk/Alias Maya Version 8
Renderman Teil 3
http://www.macs3d.com

A Plug's Life
My graduation project back in 2001. Made with Maya, Pixar's Photorealistic RenderMan and Chalice (which does not exist anymore). It was the time before ambient occlusion, image based lighting and full HD but it landed me a job in the VFX industry.

Pixar Animation Studios, or simply Pixar (/ˈpɪksɑr/, stylized PIXAR), is a computer animation film studio based in Emeryville, California. The studio is best known for its CGI-animated feature films created with PhotoRealistic RenderMan, its own implementation of the industry-standard RenderMan image-rendering application programming interface used to generate high-quality images. Pixar began in 1979 as the Graphics Group, part of the computer division of Lucasfilm before its spin-out as a corporation in 1986 with funding by Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs, who became its majority shareholder. The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar in 2006 at a valuation of $7. 4 billion, a transaction which made Jobs Disney's largest shareholder. Pixar has produced thirteen feature films, beginning with Toy Story (1995). It was followed by A Bug's Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), Cars (2006), Ratatouille (2007), WALL-E (2008), Up (2009), Toy Story 3 (2010), Cars 2 (2011), and Brave (2012). Twelve of the films have received both critical and financial success, with the notable exception being Cars 2, which, while commercially successful, received substantially less praise than Pixar's other productions. The studio has also produced several short films. As of February 2012, its feature films have made over $7 billion worldwide, with its $602 million average gross by far the highest of any studio in the industry. Both Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 are among the 50 highest-grossing films of all time, and all of Pixar's films are among the 50 highest-grossing animated films, with Toy Story 3 being the all-time highest, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.

McSweeny's (via Wikipedia)
McSweeney's is an American publishing house founded by editor Dave Eggers.
Apart from its book list, McSweeney's also publishes the quarterly literary journal Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, the daily-updated literature and humor site McSweeney's Internet Tendency, the monthly magazine The Believer, the quarterly food journal Lucky Peach, the sports journal Grantland Quarterly in association with sports and pop culture website Grantland, and the quarterly DVD magazine, Wholphin. The publishing house also runs two additional imprints, Believer Books and the Collins Library. Version 2.0 of the McSweeney's iOS app was released in 2011.
On the name of the organization, Eggers says that as a child his family received letters addressed from someone named Timothy McSweeney, who claimed to be a relative of his mother's, and his name took on an aura of mystery for him. Eggers claims that the real McSweeney is in care for mental illness, and his letters stemmed from confusion over Eggers' grandfather, who delivered him at birth, and the McSweeney family who adopted him sharing the same name.
McSweeney's has helped launch the careers of young writers, such as Philipp Meyer and Rebecca Curtis; it has also published the works of well-established authors such as Michael Chabon, Stephen King, David Foster Wallace, George Saunders, Michael Ian Black, and Joyce Carol Oates. The band One Ring Zero gained notoriety by becoming the house band for the New York McSweeney's store. As a result of this relationship, they gained the trust of many prominent McSweeney writers and solicited their lyric-writing assistance in the ORZ album, As Smart As We Are. McSweeney's was also the subject of the They Might Be Giants song "The Ballad of Timothy McSweeney."
The 99% (via Behance on wikipedia)
The 99% is a content based website, consulting service, and annual conference in New York City, that focus on best practices for pushing ideas forward. The name 99% comes from the Thomas Edison quote that "Genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration." In 2011, The 99% won a Webby Award for "Best Cultural Blog." Behance's founder and CEO Scott Belsky is the author of "Making Ideas Happen: Overcoming The Obstacles Between Vision & Reality," which became a Wall Street Journal National Bestseller. Belsky was also included on Fast Company Magazine's "100 Most Creative People in Business" list in June 2010.

Introduction to RSL - Simple Texturing
Surface and displacement shaders are used to model the appearance of an object. Texture maps is perhaps the most common method to achieve the desired look, specially if photorealism is the goal.
This video demonstrates the process of creating a RenderMan shader that will be able to consume a texture map to modify the diffuse color of a surface
