Joy (dishwashing liquid)

Joy dishwashing liquid is a major brand of dish-cleaning detergent product made by U.S.-based personal and cleaning products manufacturer and marketer Procter & Gamble.

First introduced to the U.S. in 1949, Joy was an early example of a product being reformulated to include the fragrance of lemons and helped begin the overall trend toward citrus-scented cleaning products. Joy is designed for use in the hand washing of dishes, not automatic dishwashers, and as such also contains emollients designed to protect the user's hands from drying out.

Joy is currently available in several fragrances and varieties, including an anti-bacterial formula, and is available in both "non-ultra" and "ultra" (concentrated) strengths.

The product was an early and long-term sponsor of several "soap operas", including the long-running pioneering soap Search for Tomorrow. There are several kinescopes existing of 1950s' "soap operas" containing these commercials, usually with the famous slogan, "From grease to shine in half the time".

Joy (Blackstreet song)

"Joy" is a song by American R&B group Blackstreet. The song was released as the fifth single for the group's self-titled debut album Blackstreet (1994).

The song peaked at number forty-three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Joy (stylized JOY) is a holiday studio album by contemporary Christian musician Steven Curtis Chapman. His fourth Christmas album, it has seen commercial charting success, and garnered generally positive reviews from music critics.

History

Released on October 16, 2012,Joy is Chapman's first release with Reunion Records. It is one of several Christmas albums that Chapman has done over the past few years. The album was produced by Chapman and Brent Milligan. The African Children's Choir performs on several tracks.

The cover album cover is intended to convey a 1950s styling that characterizes a number of the songs.

Music and lyrics

Seven of the album's 13 tracks are renderings of traditional Christmas carols such as "Joy to the World" and "We Three Kings" as well as popular modern Christmas songs such as "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?". Chapman employs a full range of orchestration and his "trademark acoustic/pop sound" on these songs, and shows his versatility for a variety of musical arrangements on his own original compositions, including a piano ballad, slow jazz tune, and 1950s-style rockabilly.

Mad (band)

Mad is a hard rock band from Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was formed in 1997.

Biography

Formed in 1996, the band consists of Tomy Casparri (lead vocals), Diego Castelli (bass), Julián Méndez Morgan (guitar), Pelusa Suffloni (guitar) and Rodrigo Chaparro (drums). With a "sound of powerful and overwhelming rock" they began by playing in the local underground rock scene.

They soon recorded their self-titled debut album 'MAD' which was released in 1998 and gained reasonable radio airplay having been well received by the critcis. They were subsequently invited to play in several rock festivals organised by Rock and Pop FM and recorded two songs for a 4K Records CD compilation.

In 2000 Mad was chosen by Eric Singer (former drummer of KISS) to support him for his KISS Exposition in Buenos Aires. In the same year they were chosen to play twice in Mar Del Plata city and also in Buenos Aires as the headlining act at a music festival organised by the national beer, Quilmes.

In January 2001 Mad played to a crowd of 50,000 people in the Monsters Of Rock Festival opening for Iron Maiden, Rob Halford and Queens of the Stone Age at Vélez Sársfield football stadium. They also appeared in several shows at the club Cemento, widely regarded as the "temple of Argentine rock" having hosted many famous bands in Argentine rock history such as Redonditos de Ricota, Las Pelotas and A.N.I.M.A.L. The shows were excellently produced and during this time Mad were very much the "band of the moment".

Onyx (group)

Onyx is an American hardcore hip hop group from South Jamaica, Queens, New York. The group is composed of East Coast rappers Sticky Fingaz and Fredro Starr. Sonny Seeza (formerly known as both Suavé and Sonsee) and the late Big DS (Marlon Fletcher) were also members; Big DS left after the group's debut album. Their music has been used in movies such as How High and 8 Mile and TV shows such as The Cleveland Show and Tosh.0 as well as numerous commercials, including SoBe and Gatorade.

History

Early career

The group was formed in 1988 and Onyx released its first 12" single, "Ah, And We Do It Like This", in 1990. The song revealed a strong jazz influence, noticeably more than in their later work. In 1991, Onyx was going to present a demo to Jam Master Jay at Def Jam, but Big DS and Sonee Seeza (then only known as Suavé) were in Connecticut at the time, so Fredro Starr called up his cousin Sticky Fingaz (who lived in Brooklyn). Once Sticky Fingaz joined the group, the group released Throw Ya Gunz in 1992.

Tears (film)

Tears is a 2000 South Korean film directed by Im Sang-soo. It tells the story of 4 runaway teenagers in the Garibong-dong district of Seoul and their struggles to survive the tough streets.

Director Im had the idea for this film before he shot his first film, Girls' Night Out. He spent 5 months in the Garibong-dong district amongst the homeless runaway teenagers gaining their trust and learning their lives before putting pen to paper on the screenplay. It was shot on digital video to save production costs, and did not do well at the box office.

Plot

Han, a young runaway, and Chang, an over-the-top teen, are close friends. Chang is a foulmouthed, womanizer while Han is a quiet and humble virgin. As they venture into the streets of Garibong-dong and jump from apartment to apartment, they encounter a young hooker, Lan, and Seri, a paint-sniffing young woman who finds comfort in the hands of Han. And this forms the unlikely group of teenagers facing the hardships of street life.
