Nat Cheshire - Bachelor of Architecture, First Class Honours
Nat Cheshire calls himself a "delineator", but this title does no justice to his varied and extensive practice in his architectural firm. Awarded "best building guy" by Metro in their Best of Auckland issue (December 2010) for his "very beautiful interior fitouts" in two Britomart buildings, Nat has gone a long way past his original ambition to be a fine artist with plenty of time to surf. "My architectural ambitions are global, but I chose to study and work in Auckland because of the openness to new ideas and freedom of architectural expression we have in New Zealand."

Nicola Albiston - Master of Urban Design, First Class Honours
Geography was Nicola's favourite subject at school. Her strength in the subject combined with an interest in design led naturally to studying planning for her undergraduate degree, which in turn awakened a passion for urban design. "[In New Zealand] we're facing the same issues as other urban communities around the world -- the energy crisis, sustainable living and the integration of solutions... It's not just about design, but also sequencing, funding, proper consultation, working with communities to get it right. Real integration is about finding 'mutually reinforcing outcomes', meaning you try to get multiple benefits for every dollar you spend."

1st Class Degree, A Possibility or An Impossibility
In spite of attending lectures and studying, most Nigerian students believe they are Short-changed by their lecturers, from graduating with FIRST CLASS degrees. This opinion holds sway in the Department of Communication and Language Arts [in the University of Ibadan] where there has never been a First Class graduate. Lecturers, however, hold a contrary view.

My Greatest Achievement - Group Writing Task 4
Practise writing in English in a group writing task with English teacher Jade. www.joddle.co.uk My greatest achievement was getting my First Class degree in English from the University of Kent I will always remember how I felt when I realised I had been awarded a First. I was overjoyed and stunned. There is a photograph of me looking at my result - I look so happy. I had worked very hard to get a First. I really wanted to get a First. But I also feared that I hadn't performed well in my final exams. Thankfully, my exam results were good - this meant I got a high First Class degree. It wasn't easy -- I always did the reading - whereas many people on English courses don't bother because you don't need to, if your goal is to get a two:one degree. I also had to write consistently good essays -- and I think there's a lot of luck involved in writing a good essay. One or two bad essays can ruin your chances of getting a First. I am proud to have been awarded a First, as I feel it rewards the effort I put into my course. It doesn't make any difference in the real world of work. But it does make me feel good about myself
