The Bronze Age in Denmark
From wikipedia: The Nordic Bronze Age (c. 1700-500 BC) Succeeding the Late Neolithic culture, its ethnic and linguistic affinities are unknown in the absence of written sources. Even though Scandinavians joined the European Bronze Age cultures fairly late through trade, Scandinavian sites present rich and well-preserved objects made of wool, wood and imported Central European bronze and gold. The Scandinavians adopted many important European and Mediterranean symbols while adapting these to create a unique Nordic style. The foreign influence is believed to have been due to the amber trade. Amber found in Mycenaean graves from this period originates from the Baltic Sea, so it is reasonable to assume that the culture that arose in the Nordic Bronze Age constituted one supply end of the so-called Amber Road. Not much is known about the Nordic Bronze Age religion, since written sources are lacking. However numerous archaeological finds draw a vague picture of what the religion might have been, but only some possible sects of it and only certain possible tribes. Some of the best clues to the religion of this period come from the rock carvings scattered through Northern Europe. In general most scholars agree that the Bronze Age religion was centered around the sun or a sun god. Remnants of the Bronze Age religion and mythology are believed to exist in Germanic/norse mythology; eg, Skinfaxi, Hrímfaxi and Nerthus. The Egtved Girl
The Egtved Girl was a Nordic Bronze Age girl aged 16-18 at death. Her burial has been dated by dendrochronology to 1370 BCE. She was slim, 160 cm tall, had long blonde hair and well-trimmed nails. Her treetrunk coffin was discovered in a barrow approximately 30 metres wide and 4 metres high. She was buried fully dressed on a cowhide in the coffin. She wore a loose bodice with sleeves reaching the elbow. She had a bare waist and wore a short string skirt. She had bronze bracelets and a woolen belt with a large disc decorated with spirals and a spike. At her feet were the cremated remains of a child age 5-6. By her head there was a small birch bark box which contained an awl, bronze pins and a hair net. Before the coffin was closed she was covered with a blanket and a cowhide. Flowering yarrow (indicating a summer burial) and a bucket of beer made of wheat, honey, bog-myrtle and cowberries were placed atop. Her distinctive outfit, which caused a sensation when it was unearthed in the 1920s, is the best preserved example of a style now known to be common in Northern Europe during the Bronze Age. The good preservation of Egtved girl is due to the acidic bog conditions of the soil, which is a common condition of this locale. At the time of her burial, the people in Scandinavia would have been speakers of Indo-European idioms with early proto-Germanic characteristics.

Nordic Bronze Age Lures 1700-500 BC and the Kings grave
Description: The bronze lur is made entirely of bronze. There are two forms of lurs. The latest and most developed is the "S-shaped". This lur can be described as a thin-walled, conical tube, about 1 meter 50 cm to 2 meter 25 cm. The other older form of lurs, less developed, was shorter, slightly bent and lacking the endplate. The "Wismar horn" from Germany - an older lur type. The earliest references to an instrument called the lur come from Icelandic sagas, where they are described as war instruments, used to marshal troops and frighten the enemy. These lurs, several examples of which have been discovered in longboats, are straight, end-blown wooden tubes, around one meter long. They do not have finger holes, and are played much like a modern brass instrument. The word lur is still very much alive in the Swedish language, indicating any funnel-shaped implement used for producing or receiving sound. For instance, the Swedish word for headphones is hörlurar (hearing-lurs), and a mobile telephone might be referred to as a lur in contemporary Swedish (derived from telefonlur, telephone handset). The Danish butter brand Lurpak is named after the lur, and the package design contains pictures of lurs. The Lure from the Bronze Age are one of the oldest musical instruments in the world - that still can be played. Nordic bronze age petroglyphs comes back to life.
Nordic bronze age petroglyphs comes back to life. Bronze Age rock carvings may contain some of the earliest depictions of well-known gods from later Norse mythology. A common figure in these rock carvings is that of a male figure carrying what appears to be an axe or hammer. This may have been an early representation of Thor. Other male figures are shown holding a spear. Whether this is a representation of Odin or Týr is not known. It is possible the figure may have been a representation of Tyr, as one example of a Bronze Age rock carving appears to show a figure missing a hand. A figure holding a bow may be an early representation of Ullr. Remnants of the Bronze Age religion and mythology are believed to exist in Germanic mythology and Norse mythology; eg, Skinfaxi and Hrímfaxi and Nerthus, and it is believed to itself be descended from an older "Indo-European" prototype. The Old Norse Goddess of Initiation
From Stone Age shamanism through Bronze Age Sun worship and Sacred Marriage, the Great Goddess Freyia evolved into the great Regeneratrix of the Vikings who sought initiation and resurrection through a deadly journey through the Underworld that would lead to union with the Origin of All Souls, goddess of the cosmic ocean from which the universe was birthed. Based on my book "The Maiden with the Mead - a Goddess of Initiation in Old Norse Myths". My thesis is available at the University of Oslo library and as an ebook: @Germania7 My thesis is available at the University of Oslo (2004) where it was accepted and my theories said to have been proven correct by my examinators, it may be read as an e-book here: www.duo.uio.no All drawn art in this movie is copied from Scandinavian Stone Age, Bronze Age and Viking Age rock art, engravings and sculpture (by me). For the week ending June eighth two thousand Well we have no guests this week because we have guesting. We have been doing a lot guests we just thought we would catch up with the three of us because people seem to like that sort of thing or they don't. I don't know. Guys? Yeah. Ancient Symbols - The Cross
THE CROSS The wheel cross; also called sun cross, Odin's cross or Woden's cross. Nordic Odin was the supreme god of the Nordic religion, before Christianity. The structure of the wheel cross is one of the first non-pictorial graphs to appear when humankind was on the threshold of the Bronze Age. It appears in the earliest systems of writing used by the Egyptians, Hittites, Cretians, Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans. It was a symbol for the highest power, the sun, and its counterpart, the king. It represented power and control. In ancient Greece the wheel cross signified a sphere, or globe. It was also used as a natal chart pattern in ancient astrology. In modern astrology it is the sign for the planet Earth, the astrological element earth. In astronomy it is also used as a symbol for the planet Earth. As has been its custom, the Christian Church has included this ancient pagan sign among the crosses of its symbolism. It is known as the gamma cross, the Roman Catholic cross, the consecration cross and the inauguration cross. Crosses with arms of equal length were used frequently since time immemorial in pre-Columbian America, the Euphrates-Tigris region 1500 BC , and other parts of the world. That cross seems to have been associated with the sun and the powers that controlled the weather. In Babylon, the equal arms cross was considered one of the attri- butes of Anu, god of the heavens. They first seem to have been wheel crosses with four spokes, which wheels in time lost ...

Anthropological reconstructions of Proto-Nordid skulls from Russia, originating from 8750-1600 BC. The first skull is a gracile(!) Proto-Nordid from 8750 BC from Peschanitsa, the second a robust one from 8300 BC from Popovo. The skulls and faces do not all appear in a chronological order though. The last pic shows a modern direct survivor of the facial type of the Yamna culture seen before.
