Following the release of Windows 8, we wasted no time in trying out Microsoft's new operating system on a drunken subject. Jennifer, a 40-year-old mother of 2, is an active consumer of PCs, software and alcohol. She agreed to sit down with us the afternoon following the product's launch to share her thoughts on Windows 8, all while imbibing several rounds of her favorite tequila. Highlights: - The Start screen was overwhelming. The tiles' functions, fonts and photos were unclear. - She searched in vain for conventions, often punching the Esc key to no avail. - She resented the omnipresence of Microsoft properties, like IE and Bing, referencing "Big Brother" and "Ass". - She frequently expressed a feeling of being trapped, powerless and "in retreat". Conclusion Any new operating system will be difficult for a first time user, whether drunk, sober or just a bit slow. It is possible Jennifer will eventually learn how to use the software. But it is doubtful that, even the morning after, she'll ever fully recover from her initial impression of Windows 8 as confusing and unwelcoming.

Google Adwords - Thank You
AKQA San Francisco asked PostPanic to help create a unique 10th anniversary thank you film to more than 1 million Google AdWords clients worldwide. The agency's idea was to individually address each of the clients by incorporating their company name in the film visuals. PostPanic took on the challenge of creating the main film which would then be handed over complete to Google's customization agency for clients' name integration. Director Mischa Rozema developed AKQA's script to include a fictitious Google research department trying out ambitious experiments to feature each advertiser. A combination of live action and vfx, the footage was filmed by PostPanic in around Google HDQ in California, before being brought back for post in Amsterdam.

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

However, our experience shows this hypothesis to rarely be true. For example, there is absolutely no rational reason for anyone to ever purchase cigarette product or alcohol products due to the overwhelming evidence detailing how hazardous these products are to one's health. Yet people do so anyways. Advertising for products like alcohol don't focus on the rational, but rather the 'emotional', and how drinking will make you feel. The only example of a 'rational' alcoholic advertisement was that for a product called 'Chicago Win', whose slogan was '...it gets the job done." The results of other market research, focus groups, polls, surveys, and other forms of formal research that show that people don't act or make purchasing decisions based on rational thought processes.
