Wings of Death - US Builds Global Drone Base
Relations between the US and Pakistan have hit a new low, after a top American military chief accused Pakistan's Intelligence service of supporting a group behind last week's attack on the American Embassy in Kabul. Islamabad has strongly denied the claims. One of the stumbling blocks in US- Pakistan relations is that American drone attacks on al-Qaeda operatives on Pakistani territory continually resulted in civilian deaths. However, the US military considers them so effective that it is building a number of new drone bases in Horn of Africa and the Arabian peninsula. But as RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports, this policy has caught America in a vicious circle.

Gulf desalination plants harming the seas - 15 May 09
Most of the Arabian Peninsula is desert, and the people who live there have always struggled to find fresh water. Now, the region relies on desalinated seawater for most of its needs - from drinking water to irrigation. But as Steff Gaulter report, the dozens of fresh-water factories across the Gulf have a high environmental cost

Fascination United Arab Emirates
Situated on the Arabian Peninsula between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the United Arab Emirates is a fairy-tale of the One Thousand And One Nights. In just a relatively few years the region has been catapulted from the Middle Ages into the 21st century and it is now an international financial centre within an ancient desert region. It contains seven sheikdoms that are united both politically and economically. Dubai, the second largest state in the United Arab Emirates, is a wonderful holiday paradise with a romantic desert and a long history in which the past unites with the present. Fifteen kilometres from Dubai is the tiny Emirate of Sharjah where life continues according to age-old Arabian tradition. Tourism was once popular on this former pirate coast but the Saudi king subsequently prohibited the consumption of alcohol and thus the tourists stayed away. On the western side of the Hajar Mountains an oasis village developed that contains more than two hundred springs and wells. The oasis was once frequently occupied by Saudi Arabia but in 1974 the International Court Of Justice in the Hague ruled against the Saudi occupation. Today, Oman and the United Arab Emirates share the nine oasis villages of the Buraimi Oasis and live together in peace. Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates and means, Father Of The Gazelle, a name derived from an ancient legend. The seventy three thousand square kilometres of the Abu Dhabi region cover eighty-six per cent of ...

What is Qatar pursuing in the Arab world?-Middle East Today-01-20-2012
www.presstv.com Although Qatar is one of the smallest states in the Arab peninsula, it seems to be taking a role bigger than its size. Its position both in Libya and Syria has proven to be quite influential, especially with the Arab League's decision to suspend Syria's membership in the league. In this edition of the show we ask; what is Qatar pursuing in the Arab world?

Queen of Sheba - Behind the Myth (Ancient Arabia-Marib)
Documentary sheds light on the legend of the Queen of Sheba in ancient Yemen and southern Arabian peninsula. Sheba (Arabic: سبأ, Sabaʼ, Hebrew: שבא, Sh'va, Ge'ez, Amharic, Tigrinya: ሳባ, Saba, also referred to as the people of Tubba) was a kingdom mentioned in the Jewish scriptures (Old Testament) and the Qur'an. The actual location of the historical kingdom is disputed, with modern evidence tending toward Yemen in southern Arabia.

Western Europe to the Arabian Peninsula
This video was taken by the crew of Expedition 29 on board the International Space Station. The sequence of shots was taken October 21, 2011 from 21:18:03 to 21:35:28 GMT, on a pass from just west of the United Kingdom over Ireland to just southeast of the Arabian Peninsula. At the beginning of this nighttime video, the main Western European cities stand out significantly. The English Channel is seen as a black pathway separating the United Kingdom and northern France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Large cities like London, Paris, and Brussels stand out as brightly-lit clusters of light. The pass continues southeast towards Slovenia and Croatia, with lightning storms by the Boot of Italy. The Black Sea comes up down the track as the dark patch amongst lights, which is due east of Turkey. Traveling further southeast, Cypress and cities along the Mediterranean Sea coast stand out before the Syrian Desert on the Arabian Peninsula. Near the end of the video and in the southeastern portion of the Arabian Peninsula shows the populated cities of Dubai and Doha. This pass ends over the Arabian Sea.
