UNDP: Why human development report?
Human Development is a development paradigm that is about much more than the rise or fall of national incomes. It is about creating an environment in which people can develop their full potential and lead productive, creative lives in accord with their needs and interests. People are the real wealth of nations. Development is thus about expanding the choices people have to lead lives that they value. And it is thus about much more than economic growth, which is only a means —if a very important one —of enlarging people's choices. Source: UNDP hdr.undp.org

It is bordered on three sides by its neighbour, France, and its centre is about 16 km (9.9 mi) from Italy. Its area is 1.98 km2 (0.76 sq mi) with a population of 35986 as of 2011 and is the most densely populated country in the world. Riz Khan - A second look at microfinance
is there a downside to microfinance? Critics say it might help entrepreneurship, but it does not help with basic education and healthcare where people need it. Does microcredit spiral borrowers further into debt? What happens when people cannot repay their loans? And why is a country such as Bangladesh, which has a high microcredit penetration (up to one in four households has a microloan), ranked 146th on the UN's Human Development Index?

The Happiest People on The Planet
"The world's happiest people aren't in Qatar, the richest country by most measures. They aren't in Japan, the nation with the highest life expectancy. Canada, with its chart-topping percentage of college graduates, doesn't make the top 10. A poll released Wednesday of nearly 150000 people around the world says seven of the world's 10 countries with the most upbeat attitudes are in Latin America. Many of the seven do poorly in traditional measures of well-being, like Guatemala, a country torn by decades of civil war followed by waves of gang-driven criminality that give it one of the highest homicide rates in the world. Guatemala sits just above Iraq on the United Nations' Human Development Index, a composite of life expectancy, education and per capita income. But it ranks seventh in positive emotions."* What makes people really happy and positive? Is it wealth? Respect? Longevity? A poll found that 7 of then world's 10 happiest countries have one thing in common, and it isn't money. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down. *Read more from AP via Huffington Post: www.huffingtonpost.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

The Top 10 Largest Cities In Canada
A slideshow of the 10 largest metropolitan areas in Canada. Canada is a North American country consisting of ten provinces and three territories. Located in the northern part of the continent, it extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area. Canada's common border with the United States to the south and northwest is the longest in the world. Canada is a federal state that is governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual nation with both English and French as official languages at the federal level. One of the world's most highly developed countries, Canada has a diversified economy that is reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade -- particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G7, G8, G20, NATO, OECD, WTO, Commonwealth of Nations, Francophonie, OAS, APEC, and UN. With the eighth-highest Human Development Index globally, it has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Canada occupies a major northern portion of North America, sharing the land borders with the contiguous United States to the south and the US state of Alaska to the northwest, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west; to the north lies the Arctic Ocean. The text used for the narration of “Passing Through” is part of a speech Serbian scientist and inventor
Nicola Tesla delivered in 1893 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Though today less known than
figures like Edison and Einstein, Tesla was more or less the father of much of our modern technology, since
he among other things developed the foundations of the European electrical system based on alternating
currents and the principles of wireless radio communication.
At the time he was deeply influenced by the Austrian physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach, believing
that the world should be conceived as a whole where everything is interconnected influencing each
other. And that energy is a force that runs through everything be it inorganic matter, organisms or human
consciousness. According to this line of thought every single action has universal consequences, not unlike
what the father of modern chaos theory Edward Lorenz in the 1960’s termed ‘the butterfly effect’.
.
“Passing Through” is made at Kolding School of Design in connection to the Danish iPower-project.

Narration text:
"Like a wave in the physical world, in the infinite ocean of the medium which pervades all, so in the world of organisms, in life, an impulse started proceeds onward, at times, may be, with the speed of light, at times, again, so slowly that for ages and ages it seems to stay, passing through processes of a complexity inconceivable to men, but in all its forms, in all its stages, its energy ever and ever integrally present.
A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times may have altered the course of his life, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes in Nature. In no way can we get such an overwhelming idea of the grandeur of Nature than when we consider, that in accordance with the law of the conservation of energy, throughout the Infinite, the forces are in a perfect balance, and hence the energy of a single thought may determine the motion of a universe.”

NatGeo Rebrand - Internal Reel
2011 - NatGeo Rebrand Internal Reel.
Non-Commercial purposes.
National Geographic Channels International commissioned LUMBRE to create four new ID's and a system for editable promos and bumpers that reflected the new direction of the channel for it’s subsequent rebrand.
NG ID's > http://www.lumbre.tv/index.php?/projects/view/81-nat-geo-ids-2012
Process 1> http://www.behance.net/gallery/LUMBRE-NATGEO-REBRAND-(IDS)/5221833
Process 2> http://www.behance.net/gallery/LUMBRE-NATGEO-REBRAND-(PROMOS)/5223323
The client wanted us to find several creative ways, with different complexity for their shows to be seen incredibly grandiose. A conceptual exercise to ensure that each channel program became a mega event. The challenge was triple since we had to cover both, editable package promos, and bumpers as a new ID’s campaign and all kind of resources to transform NatGeo in a spectacular entertainment channel.
To achieve this, we propose a lot of resources as well as composition and narration rules, to reinforce the spectacular in each case. We developed several ways to build bumpers and promos and also, proposed a lot of stories for IDs.
The proposal liked so much that we were commissioned the realization of four of these ID's, plus an internal circulation reel to show how the new elements of the package would work.
The new concept of NatGeo “This is who we are” talks about how we are a community of people eager to experiment and use our own body in this experimentation. Starting from here, they wanted to take out the philosophical and cold side of science and keep the apprehensive character.
The aim was to transform the purely scientific and experimental feeling and that it would contain the human component of the curious, enjoyable experience. This translates to the logo as well, which is not a decorative element but the protagonist, the one who triggers the experiment.
It was a great challenge for us to do this project as a whole, from the preproduction, and the shooting to the final delivery; always keeping in mind to respect all the attributes that represent the channel and made it successful, keeping it’s essence while simultaneously giving it a new air and tone.
This is the result of several months of work and fun.

LYRICS:
Hey over there
Please forgive me
If I'm coming on too strong
Hate to stare
But you're winning
And they're playing my favorite song
So come here
A little closer
Wanna whisper in your ear
Make It clear
Little question
Wanna know just how you feel
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Hey You might think
That I'm crazy
But I you know I'm just your type
I'mma be a little hazy
But you just cannot deny
There's a spark in between us
When we're dancing on the floor
I want more
Wanna see It
So I'm asking you tonight
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
If I said I want your body
Would It Hold It Against Me?
(Yeah) (Ah) (Oh)
Gimme something good
Don't wanna wait I want It now (na-na-now)
Pop It like a hood
And show me how you work It out
(alright)
If I said my heart was beating loud
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Aloha to all my fellow Moombahton Comrades, Amigos & Amigas!
First off Eye would like to send a HUGE shoutout to DJ Melo, who hails from my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Siriusly you did an amazing job on the "Winter of Moombahton" and Eye think that we can all say how stoked we are that this "moombah" institution is continuing to go strong today. In fact, Eye am listening to it right now. For everyone who would like to check it out ... here is the link to download:
DJ Melo Presents ... The Winter of Moombahton

The EP was also featured on Generation Bass, Tropical Bass & Mad Decent's Blogs this weekend:

Secondly, lets give a round of applause for the innovators who originally channeled the energy that is Moombahton:
Dave Nada - with the original EP release of "Moombahton" in early spring 2010
http://www.djayres.com/tanda/index.php?/projects/tapr0-dave-nada---moombahton/
Munchi - debut of the "seasonal" moombahton EPs and originator of Moombahcore - Moombahton's hard dubsteppin' cousin
http://munchiproductions.blogspot.com/2010/07/munchi-presents-summer-of-moombahton.html
***by the way - love the art on this album so much, the lil' moombah spirit dude is trippppy - is this a symbol for anything or just cool art in the moment? (obviously the flag but otherwise)
this was my first exposure to moombahton in July 2010 - and Eye took my new found moombahton playlist to Burning Man & Powellapalooza Festivals to great success, rave reviews (no pun intended lol) and crazy parties during my sets
David Heartbreak - the continuation of the seasonal moombahton EPs with "Fall of Moombahton" which was a bit harder, including a slew of really cool original tracks and collabs
http://www.tropicalbass.com/2010/11/fall-moombahton-compiled-heartbreak/
This is what made moombahton solid in my book, because by this time in September/October, the amount of tracks doubled almost overnight
There are also cool related genres that Eye would like to point out - these can make a moombahton set pop with some extra variety and tempo speeds
DJ Orion, Pagame & Cauze One - innovators of Boombahchero, and DJ Melo has a couple of these bangerz too
http://generationbass.com/2010/09/22/subguey-vol-1-2-boombahchero/
http://www.tropicalbass.com/2010/10/subguey-vol-3-orion-pagame-boombahchero-edits/

http://generationbass.com/2010/11/16/subguey-volume-iv-boombahchero-2/
There is also Baile Funk, Tribal Guarachero, Kuduro, 3ball, barefoot, and more latin/african percussive-related genres
Also would like to say that these styles also go VERY WELL with hip hop hyphy tribal-eqsue Electro, Drumstep and Dubstep - but Eye am sure you already know that ... here is one of my big influences' new EP:
Bassnectar

And to everyone involved in this style - big ups! Eye truly believe that moombahton is taking over as we speak,

This Is Australia - Great Southern Land
Standing at the limit of an endless ocean stranded like a runaway, lost at sea city on a rainy day down in the harbour watching as the grey clouds shadow the bay looking everywhere 'cause I had to find you this is not the way that i remember it here Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east. For at least 40000 years before European settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, who belonged to one or more of roughly 250 language groups. After discovery by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia's eastern half was claimed by Great Britain in 1770 and settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades; the continent was explored and an additional five self-governing Crown Colonies were established. On 1 January 1901, the six colonies federated, forming the Commonwealth of Australia. Since Federation, Australia has maintained a stable liberal democratic political system which functions as a federal parliamentary democracy ...

Hunter Dickinson Inc. (HDI) - A Diversified Global Mining Company
www.hdimining.com Hunter Dickinson Inc. (HDI) is a diversified, global mining group with more than 25 years of mineral development success. From its head office in Vancouver, Canada, HDI applies its unique strengths and capabilities to acquire, develop, operate and monetize mineral properties that provide consistently superior returns to shareholders. HDI was established as an affiliation of geologists, financiers and mining professionals engaged in advancing mineral properties in western Canada for a series of public companies. Many of the company's founders are active members of the HDI Board of Directors and senior management team today. From 1985 to 1990, HDI founded three companies -- North American Metals, Continental Gold and El Condor Resources -- with projects that would go on to become major hard rock mines. These include Golden Bear (operated 1989-2001), Kemess (operated 2000-2011) and Mt. Milligan (construction commenced in 2010). A new suite of HDI-associated public companies was created in the 1990s, each of which went on to advance significant mining assets and generate superior shareholder returns. Many of these companies -- including Taseko Mines Limited, Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. and Amarc Resources Ltd. -- are still associated with HDI today. Others that achieved mineral exploration and development success with HDI -- including Great Basin Gold Limited, Detour Gold Corporation, Rockwell Diamonds Inc. and Anooraq Resources Corporation -- are now ...

Window on the Womb: 9 to 11 Weeks
theapologeticsgroup.com The vast majority of surgical abortions take place between the seventh and thirteenth week of gestation. (Incredibly and tragically more than a few happen even after that -- up to and beyond even the point of viability!) Very few of them occur before the seventh week because it takes that long to find out you're really pregnant and then schedule the abortion. This video shows just how incredibly developed the baby is even at seven weeks. I am convinced that if everyone in America saw this video, we would go from having a slight majority who are pro-life to 90%. "The Biology of Prenatal Development" presents human prenatal development throughout all 38 weeks of pregnancy, emphasizing the first eight weeks (the embryonic period) when all body systems and more than 90 percent of body parts emerge and begin to function. This award-winning science documentary features rare imagery of the living human embryos and fetuses while they are growing inside their mother's womb. Produced in conjunction with and endorsed by human development experts, this DVD combines facts gleaned from the medical literature with images produced from six different imaging technologies. This visually compelling program is intended for general audiences and may be shown in public settings (but not broadcast or shown in theaters). It communicates an unparalleled visual appreciation of early human development. Product Details • Format: Color, DVD, NTSC, Full Screen • Language ...
