Ephialtes (Greek: Ἐφιάλτης, Ephialtēs) was an ancient Athenian politician and an early leader of the democratic movement there. In the late 460s BC, he oversaw reforms that diminished the power of the Areopagus, a traditional bastion of conservatism, and which are considered by many modern historians to mark the beginning of the "radical democracy" for which Athens would become famous. These powers included the scrutiny and control of office holders, and the judicial functions in state trials. He introduced pay for public officeholders, reduced the property qualifications for holding a public office, and created a new definition of citizenship. Ephialtes, however, would not live to participate in this new form of government for long. In 461 BC, he was assassinated, probably at the instigation of resentful oligarchs, and the political leadership of Athens passed to his deputy, Pericles.

The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

Plot: In the Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army in the mountain pass of Thermopylae. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes lead a Army of well over 100,000 (Persian king Xerxes before war has about 170,000 army) men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, and several hundred Arcadians. Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw left with no options he moved. The battle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed. The Spartan defeat was not the one expected, as a local shepherd, named Ephialtes, defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.

Plot: Essentially true story of how Spartan king Leonidas led an extremely small army of Greek Soldiers (300 of them his personal body guards from Sparta) to hold off an invading Persian army now thought to have numbered 250,000. The actual heroism of those who stood (and ultimately died) with Leonidas helped shape the course of Western Civilization, allowing the Greek city states time to organize an army which repelled the Persians. Set in 480 BC.

Both are fictionalized retellings of the Battle of Thermopylae within the Persian Wars. The film was directed by Zack Snyder, while Miller served as executive producer and consultant. It was filmed mostly with a super-imposition chroma key technique, to help replicate the imagery of the original comic book.
Scene from the movie 300(2006). Xerxes, the self-proclaimed god-king of the Persians, tempts Ephialtes with women and wealth, so that he guides the Persians to the hidden path that leads to the back of the spartans; and thus surrounding them. In the end he is persuaded by the offering, but demands one more thing... Romanian subtitles :))
Ephialtes' betrayal of King Leonidas prompts the king to wish him a Persian's blessing, which also happens to be a Spartan curse.
Pleads his case.
"What the Heck.....Why not do something totally different for a "300" based Video". It's a quickie, done to a tune called "Enter the Circus" and finished up with one called "Welcome" from the "Back To Basics" Album by Christina Aguilera. It's about the Seduction of Ephialtes, only it's not as simple as it appeared in the movie. Although Ephialtes is royally ticked off at Leonidas for rejecting him, and goes to Xerxes, he's still bothered by somewhat of a conscience, and as he's being seduced by Xerxes followers, just about everywhere he turns, Ephialtes sees visions of Leonidas pointing at him , talking to him, getting in his face and basically haunting him, which puts a bit of a damper on experiencing everything Xerxes has to offer. Still in all, it's not strong enough...

Eu vim-me embora
E na hora cantou um passarinho
Porque eu vim sozinho
Eu, a viola e Deus
Vim parando assustado, espantado
Com as pedras do caminho
Cheguei bem cedinho
A viola, eu e Deus
Esperando encontrar o amor
Que é das velhas toadas canções
Feito as modas da gente cantar
Nas quebradas dos grandes sertões
A poeira do velho estradão
Deixou marcas no meu coração
E nas palmas da mão e do pé
Os catiras de uma mulher, ei...
Essa hora da gente ir-se embora é doída
Como é dolorida,
Eu, a viola e Deus
Eu vou-me embora
E na hora vai cantar um passarinho
Porque eu vou sozinho
Eu, a viola e Deus
Vou parando assustado, espantado
Com as pedras do caminho
Vou chegar cedinho
A viola, eu e Deus
