It has both Midwestern and Southern cultural influences, reflecting its history as a border state. It is also a transition between the Eastern and Western United States, as St. Louis is often called the "western-most Eastern city" and Kansas City the "eastern-most Western city". Missouri's geography is highly varied.   The Village Voice is a free weekly newspaper and news and features website in New York City that features investigative articles, analysis of current affairs and culture, arts and music coverage, and events listings for New York City. It is also distributed throughout the United States on a pay basis.
  It was the first of the big-city tabloids that came to be known as alternative weeklies.
  The Voice was launched by Ed Fancher, Dan Wolf, John Wilcock, and Norman Mailer on October 26, 1955 from a two-bedroom apartment in Greenwich Village, which was its initial coverage area, expanding to other parts of the city by the 1960s. The offices in the 1960s were located at Sheridan Square; they are now at Cooper Square in the East Village.
  The Voice has published groundbreaking investigations of New York City politics, as well as reporting on local and national politics, with arts, culture, music, dance, film, and theater reviews. The Voice has received three Pulitzer Prizes, in 1981 (Teresa Carpenter), 1986 (Jules Feiffer) and 2000 (Mark Schoofs). Almost since its inception the paper has recognized alternative theater in New York through its Obie Awards. The paper's "Pazz & Jop" music poll, started by Robert Christgau in the early 1970s, continues to this day and remains a highly influential survey of the nation's music critics. In 1999, film critic J. Hoberman and film section editor Dennis Lim began a similar Village Voice Film Poll for the year's movies. He attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and graduated from the high school drama program at the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) in 1997.   Don Familton (October 6, 1929 - May 7, 2009) was an American boxing trainer and actor born in Cleveland, Ohio. He had resided in Culver City, California, prior to his death.
  As a young man, Familton coached volleyball for the Hollywood YMCA before going on to coach football for several high schools and junior colleges. Later, he became a boxing trainer for the YMCA, where he taught many amateur boxers. Prior to his death, he trained fighters out of Garcia Boxing, a gym in Salinas, California.
  He gained recognition in boxing circles for producing a five volume set of instructional videos and some interviews called "Don Familton's Superior Boxing" under the Straight Blast Gym (SBG) moniker.   Gary Lucchesi is an American film producer who is president of Lakeshore Entertainment. Lucchesi began his career at The William Morris Agency as an agent, representing such artists as Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner, Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich. Lucchesi served as both Vice President and Senior Vice President of Production at TriStar Pictures before becoming President of Production at Paramount Pictures.   Lloyd Henry Bumstead (March 17, 1915 – May 24, 2006) was an American cinematic art director and production designer. In a career that spanned over fifty-five years he won two Academy Awards: the first for To Kill a Mockingbird, and the second for The Sting. In addition, he was nominated for Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven.
  Bumstead was born in Ontario, California and, following his graduation from University of Southern California, joined Paramount Pictures in 1948. He learned his trade from Hans Dreier, with whom he worked on a number of films beginning with Saigon. Following Dreier's retirement in 1951 he worked with Hal Pereira, whom Paramount had brought in to replace Dreier. During these early years, Bumstead worked on numerous films, including My Friend Irma, My Friend Irma Goes West, and The Bridges at Toko-Ri. However, his big break came in 1956 when he worked with Pereira on Alfred Hitchcock's remake of The Man Who Knew Too Much. He went on to work on three further Hitchcock films: Vertigo, Topaz and Family Plot.

  Cox has been working in film since appearing as a baby in Random Harvest (1942). He started in the mailroom at Warner Bros. in 1961.
  His first film as an assistant editor was The Wild Bunch (directed by Sam Peckinpah, 1969). Cox has had a notable collaboration with Clint Eastwood that commenced with the 1976 film The Outlaw Josey Wales, for which Cox was Ferris Webster's assistant. Cox and Webster were co-editors on The Gauntlet (1977) and on several more of Eastwood's subsequent films. Starting with Sudden Impact (1983), Cox became Eastwood's principal editor. Cox has been quoted as saying that, over their 30-year partnership, Eastwood has re-cut only a single scene that Cox put together.Gary D. Roach, who worked as Cox's assistant from the mid 1990s, has become Cox's co-editor on Eastwood's films since Letters from Iwo Jima (2006).
  Cox won the 1992 Academy Award for Film Editing for Unforgiven. He has been elected as a member of the American Cinema Editors. She returned to The L Word in Season 5 as Dusty, Helena's cellmate in prison. Rijker also played a Romulan communications officer in the film Star Trek. Following graduation from Jacksonville High School in 1969 Martindale attended Lon Morris College then transferred to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.   Medved was born into a Jewish family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was raised in San Diego, California, where his scientist father, David Medved, worked for the defense contractor Convair and later for NASA.   Morgan Freeman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Mayme Edna (née Revere), a teacher, and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, a barber who died April 27, 1961, from cirrhosis. He has three older siblings. Freeman was sent as an infant to his paternal grandmother in Charleston, Mississippi. His family moved frequently during his childhood, living in Greenwood, Mississippi; Gary, Indiana; and finally Chicago, Illinois. Freeman made his acting debut at age 9, playing the lead role in a school play. He then attended Broad Street High School, later named Threadgill Elementary School, in Mississippi. At age 12, he won a statewide drama competition, and while still at Broad Street High School, he performed in a radio show based in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1955, he graduated from Broad Street, but turned down a partial drama scholarship from Jackson State University, opting instead to work as a mechanic in the United States Air Force.

  Paul Haggis
  Paul Edward Haggis (born March 10, 1953) is a Canadian screenwriter, producer, and director. He spent his early career producing and directing various American and Canadian television network series.
  Haggis was born on March 10, 1953, in London, Ontario, the son of Mary Yvonne (née Metcalf) and Edward H. Haggis. He was raised as a Catholic, but considered himself an atheist until joining the Church of Scientology. The Gallery Theatre in London, Ontario, was owned by his parents, and Haggis gained experience in the field through work at the theatre. He attended St. Thomas More Elementary School, and after being inspired by Alfred Hitchcock and Jean-Luc Godard, proceeded to study art at H. B. Beal Secondary School. After viewing Michelangelo Antonioni's 1966 film Blowup, he traveled to England with the intent of becoming a fashion photographer. Haggis later went back to Canada to pursue studies in cinematography at Fanshawe College. In 1975, Haggis moved to Los Angeles, California, to begin a career in writing in the entertainment industry.

  Phyllis Huffman (June 23, 1944 – March 2, 2006) was a casting director for film and television. She received numerous award nominations from the Casting Society of America (CSA) throughout her career, winning twice.
  She was born as Phyllis Grennan in The Bronx, New York, and graduated from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. After a brief stint as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines, she started working in the casting departments of MGM and Paramount Pictures, becoming a protégé of casting director Marion Dougherty. Huffman moved on to Warner Bros., ultimately becoming the vice president of the studio's television casting department.
  Huffman served as casting director for such TV mini-series as V: The Final Battle and North and South, earning her first CSA award for the latter. She won her first CSA award in 1989 for casting the pilot episode of the hit sitcom Murphy Brown. She received a second nomination that same year for casting the pilot for China Beach.
  In 1996, Huffman shared two Emmy Award nominations for casting the TV movies The Late Shift and The Boys Next Door. She also earned as sixth CSA nomination for the latter.

  Dave Garver (Clint Eastwood) is a KRML radio disc jockey who nightly broadcasts from his studio in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, often incorporating poetry into his programme. He has a brief sexual affair with — and then is stalked by — Evelyn Draper (Jessica Walter), an obsessed female fan, while attempting to patch up his shaky relationship with his girlfriend, Tobie Williams (Donna Mills).
  Draper has a habit of phoning in to Garver's radio show and asking him to play the classic Erroll Garner ballad "Misty" (lyrics "Look at me, I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree..."). She hears on Garver's radio show that he goes to a specific bar each night, so she shows up there and, at first, makes their meeting appear as a coincidence.   Erica "Riki" Lindhome (born March 5, 1979) is an American actress and musician. She is best known for television roles in shows including Gilmore Girls, House, The Big Bang Theory and United States of Tara and is also one half of the musical comedy duo Garfunkel And Oates. She currently hosts the Nerdist podcast "Making It".
  Lindhome was born in Coudersport, Pennsylvania in 1979 and grew up in Portville, New York. She studied at Syracuse University and was part of the sketch comedy group "Syracuse Live". After graduating in 2000, Lindhome embarked on an acting career and without an agent was able to land a small role on the sitcom Titus and a minor role in the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  In 2003 Lindhome got her first big break, earning a spot in Tim Robbins's Actor's Gang theater group and appearing in the play Embedded. She was one of four actors from the play to then be cast in the Academy Award-winning film Million Dollar Baby, where she played Mardell Fitzgerald, the sister of main character Maggie Fitzgerald played by Hilary Swank.

  Roger Joseph Ebert ( /ˈiːbərt/; born June 18, 1942) is an American journalist, film critic and screenwriter. He is the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.
  Ebert is known for his film review column (appearing in the Chicago Sun-Times since 1967, and later online) and for the television programs Sneak Previews, At the Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, and Siskel and Ebert and The Movies, all of which he co-hosted for a combined 23 years with Gene Siskel. After Siskel's death in 1999, Ebert teamed with Richard Roeper for the television series Ebert & Roeper & the Movies, which began airing in 2000. Although his name remained in the title, Ebert did not appear on the show after mid-2006 after he suffered post-surgical complications related to thyroid cancer, leaving him unable to speak. Ebert ended his association with the show in July 2008, but in February 2009 he stated that he and Roeper would continue their work on a new show. Ebert's current show, Ebert Presents: At the Movies, premiered on January 21, 2011, with Ebert contributing a review voiced by someone else in a brief segment called "Roger's Office".

  Ryan Craig (born January 6, 1982) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He currently plays with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL).
  Craig was drafted 255th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He started his hockey career with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League and played for some years in the American Hockey League before making his debut with the Lightning in the 2005–06 season.
  On July 3, 2010—Craig signed a two-way, 1-year $500,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. On June 13, 2011 Craig re-signed with the Penguins for one year.
