Guinness marked its 250th Anniversary this year. The Arthur's Day celebration took place in Dublin, Malaysia, Lagos, New York and Yaoundé. Malaysia was the only representative of the whole Asia region. Black Eyed Peas headlined the Arthur's Day celebration in Malaysia. The video was taken using my Nokia E63, sorry for the not-so-good quality.

After much public anticipation, GUINNESS® & CO has confirmed that Arthur's Day is back this year with events taking place in Dublin, Cork and Galway as well as other festivities happening throughout the country on Thursday, 23rd September 2010. This year's celebrations will see one-off performances in unique locations from some of the world's biggest recording artists, with over 40 more amazing bands to be announced during the summer months. Not content with Arthur's Day expanding to other Irish cities, GUINNESS & CO is also looking for 100 up and coming Irish acts to be part of the Arthur's Day line up on 23rd September. Every Thursday from mid July through to early August, GUINNESS & CO. will be running music events, called 'Our Thursdays', in pubs across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, giving emerging Irish music acts the opportunity to showcase their talents. Larry 'Smokey' Genta met up with Alvin Felder, a Guinness Distributor Manager in Florida at Ballyorney Irish Pub to enjoy a pint and find out more about this worldwide celebration. This year Thursday September 22 will officially be 'Arthur Guinness Day' a day that celebrates Guinness the man, Guinness the Irish Stout and the legendary 9000 years lease that Arthur Guinness himself signed to brew his beers at the historic St. James Gate Brewery in Dublin in 1759. It also marks the passing of the halfway point to St. Patrick's Day. The first 'Arthur's Day' was held in 2009 when Guinness Beer celebrated their 250th Anniversary with a series of worldwide music festivals and from now on... glasses will be raised high from Ireland and Europe across to the USA and Caribbean and extending to Asia, in what has become 24 hours of global celebrations. This event will bring people together...this year and every year in pubs and taverns and in restaurants and bars in small towns and big cities to clink a glass and agree that "It's A Lovely Day for a Guinness".

I was very recently sent a beautiful "teardrop" mountain dulcimer by a gifted luthier in Baltimore called Dave Sewell. This is my very first (crude) attempt at an outing on the instrument in DAA tuning, with a guitar backing. Arthur's Day
Arthur's Day refers to a series of music events which were first organised in 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Guinness brewing company by its owner Diageo plc.
The Savoy - Cork: Paolo Nutini, Sharon Corr, The View, Fortune, O Emperor, Reko.
Folan Quay - Galway: David Gray, Imelda May, Newton Faulkner, The Magic Numbers, Sharon Shannon, Empire Saints.
Those events took place internationally in the cities of Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, New York and Yaoundé on 24 September 2009. The event was broadcast internationally on Sky TV, ITV2 and DirecTV. €6 million has been pledged to the Arthur Guinness Fund.
Guinness drinkers are expected to raise a glass to the memory of Arthur Guinness. An 82c stamp of an Arthur Guinness portrait was also released by An Post to commemorate the anniversary.
Arthur's Day 2010 took place on 23 September.

Dublin
The Dublin shows occurred in four major venues—The Academy, Tripod, Vicar Street and Whelan's—, 28 public houses and a specially established venue called Hop Store 13 at St. James's Gate Brewery. The line-ups were confirmed on 24 July 2009. The events at Hop Store 13 will be hosted by Cat Deeley and Ronan Keating, whilst Colin Murray, Michelle Doherty and Michelle de Swarte will present from the other four major venues in the city. Other acts include The Blizzards, The Chakras, The Chapters, Concerto For Constantine, The Coronas, Jamie Cullum, Dirty Epics, The Enemy, Mick Flannery, General Fiasco, David Gray, Calvin Harris, Richard Hawley, The High Kings, Hoarsebox, David Holmes, The Infomatics, Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club, David Kitt, The Kooks, The Magic Numbers, Roots Manuva, Imelda May, Fiona Melady, Mystery Jets, Noah and the Whale, Noise Control, Paolo Nutini, OK Go, Oppenheimer, Razorlight, Fionn Regan, Republic of Loose, Reverend and The Makers, Sharon Shannon, Soul II Soul, The Undertones, White Belt Yellow Tag and The Wombats.
Belfast
Celebrations were led in Belfast by Paul and Michael at Cutter's, The Botanic Inn and The House.
Kuala Lumpur
The Black Eyed Peas headlined the Arthur's Day events in Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur. Contrary to previous regulations, anyone above the age of 18 years can now participate.
Galway
In 2010, an outdoor Arthur's Day gig took place at Folan Quay, Galway Harbour. Acts that performed on the day included Imelda May, Newton Faulkner, Empire Saints, Sharon Shannon, The Magic Numbers, David Gray.
Lagos
Sean Paul headlined the Arthur's Day events in Lagos.
2010
On 3 June 2010, Arthur's Day 2010 was confirmed and the following acts were announced: Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini, José González, Royseven, The View, We Have Band, MILK, Broken Records, Mick Flannery, The Rags, John Spillane, Jay Sean, The Hoosiers, Slow Club, The Maccabees, The Magic Numbers, Sharon Shannon, The High Kings, The Chapters, The Dirty 9s, Heathers and Dirty Epics. Applications from musical acts were requested. Events will occur in Cork, Dublin and Galway on 23 September. On July 28 it was confirmed via The Victims Official website that Brandon Flowers would also be playing in support of his solo album, Flamingo.
