My Friend Bob and I were at the Quad Cities Air Show and witnessed a fatal crash of a fine pilot and his L-39 Albatross jet. Bob caught the event on his Sony Bloggie and it is very sad and hard to watch- Knowing a good man died trying to please the crowd in rain and winds from leftover Hurricane Isaac..We sent this clip to the local news station..

Video footage from the Quad City Air Show 2012 at Davenport Municipal Airport on 09.02.12. RIP to pilot Glenn A. Smith of the Hopper Flight Demonstration Team. Smith, 58 of Friso, Texas...was killed while flying in formation with two other retired military jets as he failed to come out of a 45-degree turn during a performance at the Quad-City Air Show, crashing into a field just north of Interstate 80 about 1:25pm local time. The impact sent a massive fireball into the sky just to the southwest of Davenport Municipal Airport, where thousands were watching the annual air show. No one on the ground was injured in the crash. Davenport Assistant Police Chief Don Schaeffer told the local media that the aircraft went straight into the ground. "He never had an opportunity to come out of it," Schaeffer added. When: Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 4pm PST
Timing & Location:
3:30 - Arrive at Dance Location
DANCE LOCATION: Robson Street, between Bute and Thurlow Streets (please keep the dance on the street and off of the sidewalks to allow for pedestrian traffic).
The street is closed to vehicles and we need to leave the sidewalks clear to any pedestrians who are not involved in the dance.
3:45 - Get in place. Make sure you are facing East (towards Thurlow St.)
(If you feel like you know the dance like the back of your hand and are super confident, please set yourself up along the perimeter of the dance boundaries so that the people inside will super confident dancers to watch and follow)
4:00 - Martha and the Vandella's begin to sing "Dancing in the Street" and the moment we've been waiting for has finally arrived!
It's now time to perform the choreography we've been practicing to perfection for the last few weeks.
Show the world that Vancouver rocks!
When the music fades out, resist the desire to cheer and just WALK AWAY!

Hello Quad Cities! Occupy Quad Cities has seen several actions. The protest at the Rock Island County Courthouse in Illinois and the march across the Centennial Bridge to LeClaire Park in Davenport Iowa, where occupiers were treated to rousing speeches condemning the global corporate government alliance that keeps us all in its grip. The Occupiers that stayed at Centennial park showed that they were truly committed to this cause. We salute you! The protest at Wells Fargo Bank on bank transfer day showed the community that we need to hit the biggest offenders where it will hurt the most, in their bank holdings. People all across america have been taking their money out of the global banking cartel and putting it into well researched community credit unions that care about the people in the community that they serve. This action on Wells Fargo Bank showed that the people across America as well as the Quad Cities will be heard. To any one that hears my voice that still has money in one of these banks, Take it out now and put it into a credit union that works for the good of your community. WARNING GRAPHIC FOOTAGE THIS MAY BE HARD TO WATCH God be with the family and friends. September 1, 2012 1:30 pm A pilot was killed at an air show this weekend in Iowa after his Soviet Cold War era jet crashed into a nearby field. Three jets in tight formation rumbled over the crowd at the Quad-City Air Show in Davenport, Iowa Saturday when one of the pilots appeared to lose control of his plane. A home video captured the pilots going into a complicated maneuver, switching places mid-air and "passing within inches of each other" before a dive straight down. "He went down into the ground and he burst into flames... I was instantly in tears because I knew more than likely he didn't survive," a witness told ABC news. The pilot was identified as Glenn Smith, who The Associated Press reported was a retired technology entrepreneur from Dallas. Assistant Davenport Police Chief Don Schaeffer told the AP that the pilot "never had an opportunity to come out of it." The smoking wreckage of the Soviet L-39 jet was found in a nearby alfalfa field. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
