Retinal-Detachment - evrs
www.evrs.eu - If there is a strong adhesion between the retina and the vitreous, the posterior vitreous detachment can cause a traction on the retina. If the retina itself is fragile at that particular point, this can lead to a retinal tear, which will allow the intraocular fluids to go through and detach the retina.

Floaters & Flashes and Retinal Detachment
When clumps of cells form inside the vitreous, they cast shadows called floaters. When vitreous gel rubs or pulls at the retina, flashes occur. Floaters and flashes are more common as we reach middle age, or they can be a sign of a serious problem called retinal detachment. Get more information at www.geteyesmart.org.

Repair of complex retinal detachment
Repair of complex retinal detachment: remove silicone oil, epiretinal membrane peel, retinotomy, subretinal membrane removal, perfluron, laser, silicone oil. This 80 year old man had 2 retinal detachment surgeries elsewhere. He was referred one month ago and had surgery by Dr. Cohen for a retinal detachment with subretinal and pre-retinal silicone oil and extensive preretinal fibrosis. The retina was reattached and then one month later he developed a limited retinal detachment. Interestingly, the only part of the retina that was not detached at the initial surgery was the part that detached.

Can stem cells restore vision in retinal degeneration?
Researchers are applying stem cell transplantation to problems of photoreceptor preservation and replacement. Such an approach holds promise in the setting of disabling conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Henry Klassen, MD, Ph.D. is a professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Irvine, and the lead scientist in the multi-institutional Retinal Regeneration Program.

Song of the Machine
What if we could change our view of the world with the flick of a switch? 'Song of the Machine' explores the possibilities of a new, modified – even enhanced – vision, where users can tune into streams of information and electromagnetic vistas currently outside of human vision.
This film is a part of an ongoing collaboration between Superflux and neuroscientist Dr. Patrick Degenaar, whose pioneering work in optogenetic retinal prostheses aims to bring back sight to the blind.
Unlike the implants and electrodes used to achieve bionic vision, this science modifies the human body genetically from within. First, a virus is used to infect the degenerate eye with a light-sensitive protein, altering the biological capabilities of the subject. Then, the new biological capabilities are augmented with wearable (opto)electronics, which, by mimicking the eye's neural song, establish a direct optical link to the brain. It's as if the virus gives the body ears to hear the song of the machine, allowing it to sing the world into being.

One of Suddenly Slimmer Day Spa popular services is the Brazilian Wax performed by Brazilian born Aesthetician, and her highly trained staff. How to prepare for a Brazilian Bikini wax?
1. If you are very sensitive in the bikini area take an Advil 30 minutes before.
2. If you recently shaved your bikini line, you will need to wait two weeks in order to have enough hair growth to wax
3. Come in 30 to 45 minutes before your appointment or the day before and purchase our exclusive numbing cream that will numb up the area 70% to 80%.
4. Skip the gym. Avoid any intense cardio for 24 hours post-wax -- it can lead to irritated bumps from sweat trapped against the skin under tight-fitting clothes, says Dannielli.
5. Avoid sunbathing, using self-tanners or the tanning bed for at least 24 hours before and after a Brazilian wax.
Suddenly Slimmer Day Spa uses the latest hygienic methods in accordance with Arizona Board Of Cosmetology, providing a truly quality waxing facility. Suddenly Slimmer Day Spa has a strict NO re-dipping policy for all our waxing treatments.
You must refrain from using waxing as a hair removal method if you are using Retin -A(currently or in the past 3 months ), accutane (currently or in the past 6 months ), other keratolitic medications (that increase skin exfoliation)or are sunburned or recovering from a recent laser peel.

Retinal Detachment....{A Complimentary from Rushabh Eye Hospital,India}
Retinal Detachment WHAT IS THE RETINA? The retina is a nerve layer at the back of the eye that senses light and sends images to the brain. WHAT IS A RETINAL DETACHMENT? The retina is attached to the inner back surface of the eye. Detachment is the pulling away of the retina from its normal position. The separation of the retina from the wall of the eye impairs its normal functioning, resulting in blurred vision. WHAT CAUSES RETINAL DETACHMENT? The vitreous is a clear gel that fills most of the space in the eye. It is located in front of the retina. With age, the vitreous pulls away from its attachments to the retina, usually without causing problems. Sometimes the vitreous pulls hard enough to tear the retina. Fluid may then pass through the retinal tear and lift the retina off the wall of the eye. Risk factors for retinal detachment: Myopia or near-sightedness Injury to the eye Previous retinal detachment in the other eye Family history of retinal detachment Areas of thin/weak retina Complicated cataract surgery Warning symptoms of retinal detachment: Flashes of light New, or increase in, floaters [black dots in your vision] A gray curtain noticed in the field of vision HOW IS RETINAL DETACHMENT DIAGNOSED? The retina is examined with an instrument called the indirect ophthalmoscope after dilating the pupil. Holes and tears are carefully looked for in the periphery of the retina. Treatment Retinal tears without detachment - Laser photocoagulation or cryotherapy is ...

Retinal Detachment Surgery - What To Expect During Recovery
After my retina surgery, I wanted to know what to expect, but only found a lot of negative stuff from people who had a lot of reoccurring problems. I wanted to make a video that was more encouraging, based on my experience, I had two retinal tears, and had lost close to one third of the vision in my right eye before surgery. One month later, my retina is reattached and healing perfectly. Also the gas bubble, which some people seem to have trouble getting rid of, was gone within 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I believe it is because I adhered very strictly to the doctor's orders after surgery, which was to keep my head faced down ALL of the time I was awake while the eye healed. Every person's experience will be different, but a lot of the success with the healing after this type of surgery is due to how you obey doctor's orders!
