Aaron Swartz Tip of Iceberg in Justice System Rife w/Intimidation & Prosecutorial Overreach?
Demand Progress petition at bit.ly The suicide of internet prodigy and information freedom warrior Aaron Swartz last week raised a lot of issues about prosecutorial misconduct in the criminal justice system, but most news coverage of the suicide, where it existed at at all, was fairly superficial when it came to those issues, as I show in this video. The clips I use of CNN reporter Dan Simon's report on Aaron Swartz come from a longer segment of CNN's January 14, 2013, broadcast of "Erin Burnett OutFront" available online at bit.ly The clips I use of Chris Hayes come from a longer segment of MSNBC's January 13, 2013, broadcast of "Up w/Chris Hayes" available online at on.msnbc.com The clips I use of Aaron Swartz's partner Taren Stinebrickner-Kauffman comes from Democracy Now's January 17, 2013, video available online at bit.ly The image I use of the lack of video search results for "swartz" on the Fox News website comes from the webpage at bit.ly The image I use of the Demand Progress petition titled "Demand justice for Aaron: Support 'Aaron's Law' and inquiry into his prosecution" comes from the webpage at bit.ly The image I use of my April 2012 video titled "13 Years in Prison for $146 Forgery Is Justice?" comes from the YouTube video player page at bit.ly

Texas teen pees in court trash can during trial video unedited
Signs your trial is not going well: When the judge says to you, "I don't know how you were raised, but peeing in a trash can in a state district courtroom is inappropriate behavior." That quote, which surely will go down in judicial history alongside "with all deliberate speed," was uttered by District Judge Kerry Russell in a Tyler courtroom yesterday to 17-year-old Corey Webb, who just had to go, you know Webb was on trial for shooting at a peace officer during an escape attempt from a juvenile facility. He'd already shown a somewhat casual attitude to the judicial process, being reprimanded for mumbling loudly during attorneys' arguments and asking the judge if he could fire his lawyer. After her testimony, the court broke for lunch. Right as the jury was ushered out Webb unbuckled his pants, walked over to a trash can and urinated in court. The judge had this to say to Webb: "I don't know how you were raised, but peeing in a trash can in a state district courtroom is inappropriate behavior. This is the second conversation we've had. There won't be a third." After the break, Webb entered a guilty pee plea on the original charge. subscribe to my channel www.youtube.com

Michelle Alexander: Drug War Racism
Litigator-turned-legal-scholar Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow, argues that we have not ended racial caste in America, we have simply redesigned it: The US criminal justice system functions as a contemporary means of racial control, even as it formally adheres to the principle of color blindness. Her provocative new book challenges the civil rights community—and all of us—to place mass incarceration at the forefront of a new movement for racial justice in America. As the United States celebrates the nation's triumph over race with the election of Barack Obama, the majority of young black men in major American cities are locked behind bars or have been labeled felons for life. Event at Demos February 18, 2010. Camera, edit Joe Friendly.

Drejtesia ne 1 minute / Justice in One Minute /
The EULEX Press and Public Information Office, in association with EULEX Justice Component, launched a public outreach campaign to increase awareness about the way justice functions. he campaign includes a TV series with 50 episodes that present justice at large, starting from a philosophical point of view, and then practically how the justice system works. The episodes are very short (one minute only), broadcast at peak time hours, they will be repeated 4 times per day, giving a chance for everyone to see it. How does the current system work? Who are the actors of justice? What happens between a pre-trial detention and a verdict? What does the justice system do for me? How are laws made and who controls their drafting? In what way is corruption harming my future and the society I live in? This TV series will answer all of these questions and will look at how the justice system developed historically, what institutions administer justice, how investigations and trials proceed, and what rights you have as an individual. According to Francoise Lambert, Deputy Head of the EULEX Press Office, the program is based on the understanding that a great majority of the general public is not sufficiently aware of the way justice system functions, until it actually has to deal with it. "Kosovo's justice system is still in the process of development. Progress and positive achievements have been made during the past few years, but much still needs to be done. Many people still lack ...

China Focus - Is Reform Possible for China's Labor Camps?
There's been a flurry of discussion about just what's going to happen to China's notorious labor camp system. Also known as "reform through labor" or "laojiao" in Chinese, the system has come under harsh criticism, both inside and outside of China, for flouting the rule of law. On Monday, January 7th, state-run CCTV made an unofficial announcement via its Sina Weibo account, that the Chinese regime would "end the use" of labor camps this year. But soon, that turned into a pledge to reform it instead. In this China Focus, we talk about what the labor camp system shows about China's legal system, and why the Chinese Communist Party has not been forthcoming with any significant moves to fix the deficient system.

Randy Kelton Returns: How to Take Back What They Took From You - Alex Jones Tv 1/6
Alex welcomes back to the show Randy Kelton. Kelton hosts the Rule Of Law Radio program and is the founder of jurisimprudence.com. Kelton has discussed with Alex how the legal system can be used against corrupt cops, district, city, county attorneys, and judges. Quoting from his Juris-Imprudence, Kelton notes: "No official has any immunity from criminal prosecution. The power to take back control of the legal system lies in that simple realization. The real check to abuse of power has always been in the hands of the people, yours and mine." Alex also covers the latest news and takes your calls. www.jurisimprudence.com www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv www.infowars.net

Michelle Alexander on "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness"
A new book by legal scholar and civil rights advocate Michelle Alexander argues that although Jim Crow laws have been eliminated, the racial caste system it set up was not eradicated. Its simply been redesigned, and now racial control functions through the criminal justice system. [includes rush transcript]
