  The Antarctic ( /ænˈtɑrktɪk/ or  /ænˈtɑrtɪk/) is a polar region, specifically the region around the Earth's South Pole, opposite the Arctic region around the North Pole. The Antarctic comprises the continent of Antarctica and the ice shelves, waters, and island territories in the Southern Ocean situated south of the Antarctic Convergence. The region covers some 20% of the Southern Hemisphere, of which 5.5% (14 million km²) is the surface area of the continent itself.
  The maritime part of the region constitutes the area of application of the international Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), where for technical reasons the Convention uses an approximation of the Convergence line by means of a line joining specified points along parallels of latitude and meridians of longitude. The implementation of the Convention is managed through an international Commission headquartered in Hobart, Australia by an efficient system of annual fishing quotas, licenses and international inspectors on the fishing vessels, as well as satellite surveillance.

  Argentia is a community on the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is situated on a flat headland located along the southwest coast of the Avalon Peninsula on Placentia Bay. It is within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Placentia.
  Originally settled by the French in the 1630s that fishing settlement was called Petit Plaisance, meaning "Pleasant Little Place". The name was retained in English (Little Placentia) when the French lost control of the area following the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. The census of 1706 records 149 individuals in 14 habitations. The community adopted its present name (unofficially in 1895 and officially in 1901) for the presence of silver ore in the Broad Cove region of the community. The name "Argentia" is Latin, meaning "Land of Silver" and was chosen Father John St. John, the parish priest at Holy Rosary Parish from September 18, 1895 to February 11, 1911. The Silver Cliff Mine operated until the early 1920s but was never profitable. Through most of the 19th century, the fishery was the lifeblood of the community; the Commission of government built a herring factory at Argentia in 1936.

  The Arno is a river in the Tuscany region of Italy. It is the most important river of central Italy after the Tiber.
  The river originates on Mount Falterona in the Casentino area of the Apennines, and initially takes a southward curve. The river turns to the west near Arezzo passing through Florence, Empoli and Pisa, flowing into the Tyrrhenian Sea at Marina di Pisa.
  With a length of 241 kilometres (150 mi), it is the largest river in the region. It has many tributaries: Sieve (60 kilometres (37 mi)), Bisenzio (49 kilometres (30 mi)), Era, Elsa, Pesa and Pescia. The drainage basin amounts to more than 8,200 square kilometres (3,200 sq mi) and drains the waters of the following sub-basins:

  Point Reyes
  Point Reyes is a prominent cape and popular Northern California tourist destination on the Pacific coast of northern California. It is located in Marin County approximately 30 miles (50 km) WNW of San Francisco. The term is often applied to the Point Reyes Peninsula, the region bounded by Tomales Bay on the northeast and Bolinas Lagoon on the southeast. The headland is protected as part of Point Reyes National Seashore.
  The cape protects Drakes Bay on its southern side. The headland is largely drained by Drakes Estero. Drake's Bay and Drake's Estero are named after English seafarer Sir Francis Drake who possibly hauled his ship, the Golden Hinde, up onto the beach for repairs in June 1579. Inverness Ridge runs along the peninsula's northwest-southeast spine, with forested peaks around 430 meters (1,400 ft). West of the ridge, the land flattens out and the vegetation turns to scrub. The Mount Vision fire in 1995 burned part of Inverness Ridge.

  Severnaya Zemlya
  Coordinates: 79°30′N 97°45′E / 79.5°N 97.75°E / 79.5; 97.75 Severnaya Zemlya (Russian: Се́верная Земля́, Northern Land) is an archipelago in the Russian high Arctic. It is located off mainland Siberia's Taymyr Peninsula across the Vilkitsky Strait. This archipelago separates two marginal seas of the Arctic Ocean, the Kara Sea in the west and the Laptev Sea in the east.
  Severnaya Zemlya was first noted in 1913 and first charted in 1930–32, making it the last archipelago on Earth to be discovered. Politically, they are part of Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai region, but are uninhabited by humans except for an Arctic base.
  Although located not far off the northern coast of Russia, Severnaya Zemlya was not formally recorded until the 20th century. Earlier explorers did report a land mass in the general areas, most notably a report by Matvei Gedenschtrom and Yakov Sannikov in 1810 from their explorations out of Novaya Sibir.
  Nested among the ice-locked waters of the Arctic Ocean, Severnaya Zemlya was not put on the map until the 1913–1915 Arctic Ocean Hydrographic Expedition of icebreakers Taimyr and Vaigach. Led by Boris Vilkitsky, this venture accomplished its goal of exploring the uncharted areas of the Northern Sea Route in what was seen as the culmination of an enterprise initially conceived by emperor Peter I the Great to map the Northern Sea Route to the East.

Rising from a hill between Twin Peaks and Mount Sutro, it is a prominent part of the city skyline and a landmark for city residents and visitors. However, many local people opposed the tower even before it was completed, including criticism of the aesthetic effect the tower would have on the rest of San Francisco. San Francisco writer Herb Caen once wrote, “I keep waiting for it to stalk down the hill and attack the Golden Gate Bridge.” Acknowledging both displeasure and affection for its undeniable prominence on the city's skyline, it is sometimes referred to light-heartedly as the Sutro Monster.
  Before the construction of Sutro Tower, television reception in San Francisco was spotty because the many hills of the city would block the line-of-sight television signal. The great height of the new tower helped to resolve that problem. Transmitters had been scattered throughout the Bay Area, including at San Bruno Mountain, Mt. Allison, Monument Peak, and Mt. Diablo. By having all the main Bay Area television station transmitters in one location, reception was improved by allowing a receiving antenna pointed in a single direction to receive all those stations rather than a subset. However, after the NBC affiliation was transferred to KNTV, that station chose to broadcast from San Bruno Mountain which is five miles south of Sutro Tower. This requires viewers in some locations to reorient their antenna in order to receive the NBC programming.

  Winter storm
  A winter storm is an event in which the dominant varieties of precipitation are formed that only occur at low temperatures, such as snow or sleet, or a rainstorm where ground temperatures are low enough to allow ice to form (i.e. freezing rain). In temperate continental climates, these storms are not necessarily restricted to the winter season, but may occur in the late autumn and early spring as well. Very rarely, they may form in summer, though it would have to be an abnormally cold summer, such as the summer of 1816 in the Northeast United States of America.
  Snowstorms are storms where large amounts of snow fall. Snow is less dense than liquid water, by a factor of approximately 10 at temperatures slightly below freezing, and even more at much colder temperatures.^{[citation needed]} Therefore, an amount of water that would produce 0.8 in (20 mm) of rain could produce at least 8 in (20 cm) of snow. Two inches (5 cm) of snow is enough to create serious disruptions to traffic and school transport (because of the difficulty to drive and maneuver the school buses on slick roads). This is particularly true in places where snowfall is atypical but heavy accumulating snowfalls can occur (e.g., Dallas, Atlanta, Seattle, London, Dublin, Canberra, Vancouver and Las Vegas). In places where snowfall is typical, such as Utica, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Detroit, Bismarck, Fargo, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Omaha, St. Louis, Des Moines, Wichita, Denver, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Portland, Chicago, Syracuse, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Toronto, such small snowfalls are rarely disruptive, because of effective snow and ice removal by municipalities, increased use of four-wheel drive and snow tires, and drivers being more used to winter conditions. Snowfalls in excess of 6 inches (15 cm) are usually universally disruptive.

  Adam Freeland is an English record producer and DJ associated with breakbeat based electronic music. As a DJ and remixer he operates solo under his own full name, as a producer, he formed half of the electronic music duo Tsunami One with Kevin Beber, and released an album billed as 'Freeland'; He is the owner / creative director of record label Marine Parade, which has released material by artists including Evil Nine, ILS, Alex Metric and Jape. From 1999 to 2001 Adam hosted a show on Friday night on London's Kiss 100 FM.
  He was a originally a resident of Brighton, but moved to Los Angeles where he recorded his second studio album Cope™ however, he has since returned to Brighton. In 1996, Freeland released the first Coastal Breaks album, both of which are one track over an hour long each. Since then he has released the Tectonics, On Tour and Global Underground mix albums, as well as a FabricLive mix, and Back To Mine. Freeland's debut artist album Now and Them, released in 2003, relied on influences from punk, hip hop, electro, dub, reggae and rock. It featured the hit single "We Want Your Soul"; with his remix of Sarah Vaughan's "Fever" nominated for a Grammy Award; and his personally requested mix of The Doors "Hello, I Love You" receiving critical acclaim. Several artists have collaborated with Freeland: His more recent album Cope™ features Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe playing drums, Twiggy Ramirez in the bass, Joey Santiago from The Pixies and Tony Bevilacqua of The Distillers / Spinnerette played guitar, with Alex Metric in production.   Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell, July 8, 1970) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known by the stage name Beck.
  The four-time platinum artist rose to underground popularity with his early works, which combined social criticism (as in "MTV Makes Me Want to Smoke Crack" and "Deep Fried Love") with musical and lyrical experimentation. He first earned wider public attention for his breakthrough single "Loser", a 1994 hit. Beck is known for creating musical collages of different styles.
  Two of Beck's most popular and acclaimed recordings are Odelay (1996) and Sea Change (2002).Odelay was awarded Album of the Year by the American magazine Rolling Stone and by UK publications NME and Mojo. Odelay also received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Both Odelay and Sea Change appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
  Beck was born in Los Angeles, California, to David Campbell, a Canadian musician, and Bibbe Hansen, a visual artist and former Warhol "star". His father is of Scottish heritage and his mother is half Norwegian, a quarter Jewish and a quarter Swedish. His maternal grandfather is Al Hansen, a visual collage artist of the Fluxus school of art. Beck's paternal grandfather was a Presbyterian minister.   Born in Los Angeles, Regan Farquhar was introduced to hip hop at an early age, his father Ralph Farquhar being the screenwriter for the film Krush Groove, one of the earliest films focusing on hip hop culture. He began rapping at age 9. By 13, he had released his first album as part of the group 4/29. At the age of 15, he attended open-mic nights at the Good Life Cafe in 1993. A regular at the Project Blowed open mic during the mid-1990s, he would be introduced to fellow underground artists, leading him to being a guest on at least 20 singles.^{[citation needed]} He first recorded with Chillin Villain Empire in 1995. In 1999, he was featured on Fat Jack's Cater To The DJ.
  Busdriver released his first solo album Memoirs of the Elephant Man in 2001, followed by This Machine Kills Fashion Tips and Temporary Forever in 2002. 2003 brought a collaboration with Radioinactive and Daedelus for the album The Weather. He followed those albums with Cosmic Cleavage in 2004 and Fear of a Black Tangent in 2005. In 2005, he was also enlisted as a "Corn Ganggster" rapping with Th' Corn Gangg. He later appeared on Islands' song "Where There's A Will There's A Whalebone" from the album Return to the Sea. Nicholas Thorburn once again worked with Busdriver on the track "Crony Island" from Reefer's self-titled debut in 2008. Busdriver's two albums RoadKillOvercoat and Jhelli Beam have been released on Epitaph Records. In 2010, he released a free mixtape Computer Cooties.

Her maternal grandmother was actress Judy Campbell and her uncle is the screenwriter Andrew Birkin, who directed her in The Cement Garden. She attended École Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel in Paris and Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil in Switzerland.

  Flying Lotus (born Steven Ellison) is an experimental multi-genre music producer from Winnetka, California. His debut album, 1983, was released on Plug Research Records in 2006. He produced much of the bumper music on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block, for which he is uncredited, and he also contributed remixes for fellow Plug Research artists including Mia Doi Todd. He is often referred to as FlyLo by fans and critics. His grandmother was songwriter Marilyn McLeod. He is the great-nephew of the late Alice Coltrane, whose husband was John Coltrane.   In 2007, he announced that he signed with Warp Records. Following his Warp debut, the six-track Reset EP, he quickly became one of the label’s cornerstone artists and released his second album, titled Los Angeles, on June 10, 2008. In 2008, Flying Lotus also remixed "Reckoner" from Radiohead's album In Rainbows. His third album, Cosmogramma, was released on May 3, 2010, in the UK and May 4, 2010, in the US.   Nocando (born James McCall) is a rapper from Los Angeles, California. He is a member of Customer Service. He is the 2007 Scribble Jam champion and host of Low End Theory. He is currently signed to Alpha Pup Records.
  Nocando first began battling in high school. He would go on to form a trio with high school friends Y-Not and A-ok known as The Weird People. He has stated that the name Nocando was inspired by this, as each of the three Weird People are named for common-use phrases; "No Can Do," "Why Not" and "A-Okay". Following graduation and introduction to Project Blowed, Nocando and The Weird People went on to co-found the group Customer Service along with fellow Project Blowedians Kail and Joe Sue. The group would later add SP83, Psychosiz and Choice Reason bringing its membership to eight. The group would go on to gain battle prominence in the West Coast hip hop scene and respect amongst veteran Project Blowedians including Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, Busdriver, Skeelo, Ellay Khule and Medusa, leading to Customer Service's inclusion on Project Blowed 10th Anniversary on Decon in 2005. The song "Live @ The Blowed" featuring all eight members was met with critical reception leading to its selection as the album's single. In 2005, Customer Service was selected as the opening act for the Project Blowed 10th Anniversary Tour.

  Nosaj Thing (born Jason Chung) is an American electronic musician based in Los Angeles, California.
  Nosaj Thing was involved in music at a young age and hip hop has had a profound influence on his music.
