Invitation to the EXPEDITION for the FUTURE
I have chartered a great ship, the HANSE EXPLORER, to traverse the sub-antarctic seas from Cape to Cape (Cape Horn, South America, to Cape of Good Hope, South Africa). Our journey will bring us to Bouvet Island, the furthest uninhabited island in the world. Weather permitting, we will attempt a climb to it's summit, an extinct volcano. I wish to bring three poles of human awareness on the trip, three people representing knowledge, philosophy, and creativity in the goal of returning with a vision of the future. From February 8th to March 12th 2012, The EXPEDITION for the FUTURE will travel from the end to the beginning of civilization. You are invited to join us in creating this vision of the future. My goal is to produce a television documentary about the journey, an interactive book authored by the three poles, and an educational experience for museums and planetariums. We also welcome satellite projects that will maximize this truly unique and epic journey. Whether you are an organisation or citizen of the world, contact me to take part in this most epic journey: j@TheNOMADS.com

Strong blue waves indicate rapid downward surface movement, while strong red waves indicate strong upward motion. Researchers at Princeton investigate and inform the public about earthquakes worldwide through Global ShakeMovie, an online portal that shows near-real-time visualizations of recent earthquakes worldwide. These visualizations, which are usually live within seven hours of an event, are based on simulations carried out on a large computer cluster in order to provide information that enhances the public knowledge and understanding of earthquakes.

GREETINGS FROM NORWAY [1/5]
The Kingdom of Norway is a constitutional monarchy in Northern Europe that occupies the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. It is bordered by Sweden, Finland, and Russia, while the United Kingdom and the Faroe Islands lie to its west across the North Sea. The country's extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean, is home to its famous fjords. Norway was ranked highest of all countries in human development from 2001 to 2006, and came second in 2007 (to fellow Nordic country Iceland). It also rated the most peaceful country in the world in a 2007 survey by Global Peace Index. It is a founding member of NATO. In the 1920s, Norway annexed Jan Mayen and was given the sovereignty over the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard under the Svalbard Treaty. The polar territories of Bouvet Island, Peter I Island and Queen Maud Land are external dependencies, but not parts of Norway. Becoming the first European nation to declare independence in the 20th century, since World War II Norway has experienced rapid economic growth, and is now amongst the wealthiest countries in the world. Norway is the world's third largest oil exporter after Russia and Saudi Arabia and the petroleum industry accounts for around a quarter of GDP The oil industry is mainly situated outside and controlled from the oil capital Stavanger. Norway has also rich resources of gas fields, hydropower, fish, forests, and minerals. Norway was the second largest exporter of seafood (in value, after China ...
