The Varangian Rus 1/3
Generally speaking, the Norwegians expanded to the north and west to places such as Ireland, Scotland, Iceland and Greenland; the Danes to England and France, settling in the Danelaw (northern/eastern England) and Normandy; and the Swedes to the east, founding the Kievan Rus, the original Russia. However, among the Swedish runestones which mention expeditions over seas, almost half tell of raids and travels to western Europe. Also, according to the Icelandic sagas, many Norwegian Vikings went to eastern Europe. These nations, although distinct, were similar in culture and language. The names of Scandinavian kings are known only for the later part of the Viking Age. Only after the end of the Viking Age did the separate kingdoms acquire distinct identities as nations, which went hand in hand with their Christianization. Thus the end of the Viking Age for the Scandinavians also marks the start of their relatively brief Middle Ages. According to the Primary Chronicle, compiled in Kiev about 1100-1200 Ad, one group of Varangians was Rus' people. Their name became that of the land of Rus' this happened because one of Rus' princes, Rurik (Old Norse: Hrörekr) had been recognized by several East Slavic and Finno-Ugric peoples as their ruler, founding the Rurikid Dynasty, which later would rule over Rus' and after its fall over Russia for many centuries. Rurik first came to Staraya Ladoga in 862 and then moved his capital to Novgorod in 864, while his relative Oleg (Old Norse <b>...</b>

Rurik & Slavic tribes expansion Kievan Rus, Galicia Volhynia, Muscovy [ Early Russia ]
www.youtube.com Kievan Rus was a medieval european state which existed from 880 populated by Old East Slavic warrior elite tribes, today our three modern East Slavic nations Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians. Rurik Dynasty which ruled Kievan Rus and then Galicia Volhynia until the 14th and Muscovy until the 16th century. In 1019 our Slavic tribes take the acceptance of Christianity and the creation of the first East Slavic written legal code, the Russkaya Pravda. The Slavic tribes and Varangians Rus tribes integration is what is known as East Slavic people "Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians". Rurik was a Varangian Rus. The Vagarians was Scandinavian Vikings tribes who left Scandinavia and immigrated to Eastern Europe. The Slavic with Vagarian integration was the beginning of the Kievan Rus. With the time the Slavic culture and language absorbed the Norse culture and language and Vagarians become into East Slavic. As a historic and scientific fact only East Slavic people have Vagarian Rus ancestry and blood the Vikings tribes who remained in Scandinavia not have Vagarian blood or ancestry. Although historians and scientists know that Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians have Varangian ancestry they can not determine if Vagarians are the dominant ancestors or the Slavic are the dominant ancestors because Slavic and Varangian are of R1a and R1b haplogroups typical for Slavic, Germanic and Celts peoples.

Medieval II Total War - Official Russian Faction Feature PC Game
The establishment of the first East Slavic states in the 9th century coincided with the arrival of Varangians, the traders, warriors and settlers from the Baltic Sea region. Primarily they were Vikings of Scandinavian origin, who ventured along the waterways extending from the eastern Baltic to the Black and Caspian Seas.n the 10th to 11th centuries Kievan Rus' became one of the largest and most prosperous states in Europe. The reigns of Vladimir the Great (980--1015) and his son Yaroslav I the Wise (1019--1054) constitute the Golden Age of Kiev, which saw the acceptance of Orthodox Christianity from Byzantium and the creation of the first East Slavic written legal code, the Russkaya Pravda. In the 11th and 12th centuries, constant incursions by nomadic Turkic tribes, such as the Kipchaks and the Pechenegs, caused a massive migration of Slavic populations to the safer, heavily forested regions of the north, particularly to the area known as Zalesye. The age of feudalism and decentralization had come, marked by constant in-fighting between members of the Rurik Dynasty that ruled Kievan Rus' collectively. Kiev's dominance waned, to the benefit of Vladimir-Suzdal in the north-east, Novgorod Republic in the north-west and Galicia-Volhynia in the south-west. Ultimately Kievan Rus' disintegrated, with the final blow being the Mongol invasion of 1237--40,that resulted in the destruction of Kievand the death of about half the population of Rus'The invaders, later known as Tatars <b>...</b>
