28c3: Building a Distributed Satellite Ground Station Network - A Call To Arms
Andreas -horn- Hornig, hadez: Building a Distributed Satellite Ground Station Network - A Call To Arms Hackers need satellites. Hackers need internet over satellites. Satellites require ground stations. Let's build them! As proposed by Nick Farr et al at CCCamp11, we - the hacker community - are in desperate need for our own communication infrastructure. So here we are, answering the call for the Hacker Space Program with our proposal of a distributed satellite communications ground station network. An affordable way to bring satellite communications to a hackerspace near you. We're proposing a multi-step approach to work towards this goal by setting up a distributed network of ground stations which will ensure a 24/7 communication window - first tracking, then communicating with satellites. The current state of a proof of concept implementation will be presented.

The current state of a proof of concept implementation will be presented. This is a project closely related to the academic femto-satellite movement, ham radio, Constellation@Home. The area of small satellites (femto-satellite under 0.1 kg up to mini-satellite 100-500 kg) is currently pressed forward by Universities and enables scientific research at a small budget. Gathered data, both scientific and operational, requires communication between satellites and ground stations as well as to the final recipients of the data. One either has to establish own transmission stations or rent already existing stations. The project "distributed ground station" is an extension to the project which will offer, at its final ...

Kerbal Space Program EP 1: Geostationary Satellite without liquid fuel rockets
So today for the first episode we attempt to set up a Geo Sync satellite. Using a Prototype rocket that uses no liquid fuel. To improve the communications network which will allow me to do more unmanned missions. I will do manned missions eventually but hauling up Zoxy systems on a stable rocket is hard. I am not sure if you guys would prefer to see me build the rockets or just a quick tour of how I have set them up like I did in this video. Let me know!

Please see Network-SeVen for live, free, satellite TV to Iran - shabakeh7.com and http This past Friday was truly one of the most exciting days of my life. I was blessed to have the opportunity to share my testimony, the Gospel, and God's love for the Iranian people on Network-SeVen, an Iranian satellite program, watched live by approximately 3 to 6 million Iranians! The show is hosted by Dr. Hormoz Shariat, (known as "the Billy Graham of Iran") of Iran Alive Ministries. Dr. Shariat and Iran Alive Ministries are being used mightily by the LORD to help transform Iran. I cannot imagine any ministry more deserving of the support of the global Church than Iran Alive. Few Western believers are aware of the fact that the single greatest revival in the world is taking place right now in the nation of Iran. Despite the tremendous resistance, the Church in Iran is growing by approximately 20% per year. This is an amazing moment of opportunity to bring Jesus to the Iranian people, who are so deeply in need of the message of eternal life that only he offers. In the days ahead, I am looking forward to partnering further with Iran Alive and Dr. Hormoz. Please remember to pray for Iran, for the Church there, and as I have emphasized before, that war can be averted and that cooler heads would prevail. Please see joelstrumpet.com for more.

Dan Peek explains how to program your Pansat 300A receiver so you can get 3ABN and other Adventist channels on the Galaxy 19 (G-19) satellite. In the video, Dan uses a portable video unit to check the signal strength bar graph; most home users need to look for the same bar graph on the TV screen in their home instead, since they will probably not have a portable video unit that they can take outdoors with them. Electronic Countermeasures @ GLOW Festival NL 2011
In the skies above the city a drone flock drifts into formation broadcasting their local file sharing network. Part nomadic infrastructure and part robotic swarm they form a pirate internet, an aerial napster, darting between the buildings....
Today we are much closer to our virtual community than we are to our real neighbours. This death of distance has created new forms of city based around ephemeral digital connections rather than physical geography. The infrastructure that drove the development of the city was once large permanent networks of roads, plumbing and park spaces but are now nomadic digital networks, orbiting GPS satellites and cloud computing connections.
Revolutionary communities are coalescing around social networks and text messages and occupy the city with the force to topple governments. The U.S. military’s has development autonomous aerial drones that they can be launched across a place like Egypt, when the government cut off internet access to prevent people from organizing protests. These drones would fly off and hover above the city, and create ad hoc connections and networks in a new form of nomadic territorial infrastructure.
Electronic Countermeasures is a project inspired by these new forms of nomadic infrastructure. The project explores the design and manufacture of a flock of interactive autonomous drones that form their own place specific, temporary, local, WIFI community- a pirate internet.
We have built a flock of GPS enabled quadcopter drones from components that were originally intended for aerial reconnaissance and police surveillance to create this flying pirate file sharing network. The drones are autonomous and drift above the public spaces of the city as a balletic interactive aerial choreography. Part nomadic infrastructure and part robotic swarm we have rebuilt and programmed the drones to broadcast their own local wifi network as a form of aerial Napster. They swarm into formation, broadcasting their pirate network, and then disperse, escaping detection, only to reform elsewhere.
The public can upload files, photos and share data with one another as the drones float above the significant public spaces of the city. The swarm becomes a pirate broadcast network, a mobile infrastructure that passers-by can interact with. It is a site specific file sharing hub, a temporary, emergent online community where content and information is exchanged across the drone network. When on location, a visitor can log onto the drone network with their phones and laptops. When the audience interacts with the drones they glow with vibrant colours, they break formation, they are called over and their flight pattern becomes more dramatic and expressive. Impromptu augmented communities form around the glowing flock. Their aerial dance and dynamic glowing formations give visual expression to the digital communities of the city.

SPEED Race Hub: Show graphics package
Fox Sports' SPEED Network had so much success with its flagship show, "Race Hub", they felt the need to kick the show's branding into a higher gear. Leviathan was presented with the opportunity to create a new show package for the program, demonstrating how racing's epicenter, Charlotte, NC, is truly the hub of all things NASCAR...but with the challenge of NOT showing a single race car. Eschewing the usual macho stereotypes and instead taking a more sophisticated, futuristic approach, Leviathan explored both the micro and macro perspective of racing, from hyper-detailed engine parts up to a birds-eye satellite view. SPEED ultimately decided on the latter concept, though multiple visual stages are included here for your viewing pleasure.

Dish Network Direct TV hookup OTA DTV Antenna Local channels
Hookup a DTV antenna to receive free OTA local TV channels with a Direct TV or Dish Network setup. WTJR is not carried locally by Dish Network or Direct TV There has been some confusion recently due to the fact that WTJR has been removed from the local channel packages of Dish Network and Direct TV. Both of these satellite services have opted to only carry the national CTN signal and not pick up the local affiliate WTJR. If you would like to see your local programs and pastors, please contact Dish Network or Direct TV and let them know that you support WTJR and would like to see your local programs. www.dishnetwork.com You can still view WTJR in the local Quincy area with an antenna even if you have cable or satellite service. Most TV's have multiple input sources, which many of you have your DVD player plugged into one of them, so it's easy to hook up an indoor or outdoor antenna and receive WTJR and watch any of the 12 local programs and pastors that are produced right here in our studios. Please watch this video for detailed instructions on how to hook up an antenna and still be ale to watch your satellite service.
