Screen Guild Theater: Tailored by Toni / Zaza / Never in This World
Tailored by Toni: Carole Lombard, James Stewart, Spring Byington, Edward Everett Horton, George Murphy Zaza: Fanny Brice, Bob Hope, Hanley Stafford, Martha Raye, George Murphy, Matty Malneck's Band, Manny Klein & his Hot Trumpet Never in This World: Leslie Howard, Kay Francis, Mary Nash, Virginia Weidler, Irving Pichel, Morgan Wallace Carole Lombard (October 6, 1908 -- January 16, 1942) was an American actress.[1] She is particularly noted for her roles in the screwball comedies of the 1930s. She is listed as one of the American Film Institute's greatest stars of all time and was the highest-paid star in Hollywood in the late 1930s, earning around US$500000 per year (more than five times the salary of the US President).[2] Lombard's career was cut short when she died at the age of 33 in a plane crash while returning from a World War II Bond tour. Graham Greene praised the "heartbreaking and nostalgic melodies" of her faster-than-thought delivery. "Platinum blonde, with a heart-shaped face, delicate, impish features and a figure made to be swathed in silver lamé, she wriggled expressively through such classics of hysteria as Twentieth Century and My Man Godfrey." Lombard made her film debut at the age of twelve after she was seen playing baseball in the street by director Allan Dwan; he cast her as a tomboy in A Perfect Crime (1921). In the 1920s, she worked in several low-budget productions credited as Jane Peters, and later as Carol Lombard. Her friend Miriam Cooper ...

Gustaf Egerstam and his danceorch. vocal Teddy Leif - Red sails in the sunset (1935) swedish version
Fågel blå (Blue bird in swedish) was a very odd label in Sweden. They just worked during 1935-36 and I have almost never seen the label, so this record is not common. Red sails in the sunset was recorded in many different versions, the most popular recorded by Greta Wassberg, but since this is an odd recording - even if it's in my meaning not the best swedish version - I choosed this one. According to SLBA is the anonymous orchestera Gustaf Egerstam and his danceorchestera. Gustaf Egerstam (1897-1976) started his musical career as militarymusican playing clarinett. In 1927 he started his own band and some of his early recordings are mentioned as early swedish jazz. During the therties he was recordingdirector at the Toni label. During the WWII he was more and more working with swedish traditional music like hambo schottis and so on. At the phot he is playing violin. The rafrain is sunged by Teddy Leif (real name; Leif Petersén) (1909-1980) During the therties he toured around in Sweden leading different cabrets. He stoped his career during the war. It's a quite sad story (even if it's not a mention on life and deat, as in other countries). When our neighbour countries was occupied, the swedish goverment decided to restrict the hole country and for the safty of bombplanes no lights was accepted in the evening,it was possble to have light inside the houses, but then you had to cover the windows so no light could be seen from outside. The big problem for Teddy Leif was that ...

November 1935 in Kitzbühel. Sein Sternzeichen ist der Skorpion. Seine Autogrammanschift: Kitzbühel/Tirol ...

Tony PASTOR & His Orchestra " Margie " !!!
RARE OLDIES SOUNDIES IN COLOR WITH MR TONY PASTOR & HIS ORCHESTRA ! Tenor saxophonist and vocalist Tony Pastor began playing professionally while still a teenager. He worked with the Wesleyan Serenaders in the mid-1920s, John Cavallaro in 1927, Irving Aaronson from 1928 to 1930, and Austin Wylie around 1930. He formed his own orchestra based out of Hartford, Connecticut, in 1931. The group struggled, and in 1934 he disbanded it. He toured with Smith Ballew in 1935 and played briefly with Joe Venuti and Vincent Lopez before joining Artie Shaw in 1936, where he remained when Shaw regrouped the following year. Featured by Shaw as both a musician and singer, Pastor became popular for his expressive singing and impish personality. When Shaw decided to quit the band business in late 1939 and run off to Mexico Pastor was asked to head the orchestra, which was to become a cooperative affair. He turned down the offer and formed his own band instead. His second group proved a success. Pastor was both honest and friendly and well loved by his musicians and fans. His sax playing and his vocals were the highlights of each performance. Pastor went all out when it came to buying charts for his book. His orchestra featured some of the most modern jazz arrangements of its time. It outlived just about all other swing bands, finally breaking up in the late 1950s. The group's most prominent vocalists, aside from Pastor himself, were sisters Rosemary Clooney and Betty Clooney. Other singers ...

Jay Elwing and his Cecil orchestra & Gösta Kjellertz - A rendez vous incognito 1935
Hjalmar Jay Elwing (1903-1970) and his band was playing at Cecil in Stockholm, at some years in early thirties he was working as musician in Hollywood but returned to Sweden and started his own band during 1934-35 he was recording manager of the Swedish record label Resia. After he returned to US and had a band in Los Angeles. He went back to Stockholm as he thought for some month in 1939. But the war came and he never returned working in US. In 1960 he left his career as musician and was working as tour leader for visiting artists in Sweden. Gösta Kjellertz (1912-1984) is singing the refrain, Kjellertz did various recording (more than 100) and was also working as actor. Mostly known is his participation in the nice music movie Löjtnantshjärtan (Heart of Lieutenants) from 1942. Parad was a Swedish label working from 1934 -1936, and those records are not common to find. Many of the Parad recordings was edited at other labels as for example Resia Colorit and Toni. But from I have been able to found out, this melody was just edited in this printing.
