Indochina
Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia form the geographical and cultural region of Indochina, a word created at the beginning of the 19th century to highlight the influence of China and India on this part of South East Asia. Due to its magnificent natural landscapes and variety of historic sanctuaries, Vietnam is one of the most interesting counties in Asia and despite its 3 million inhabitants, the capital city of Hanoi has a relatively calm, old fashioned and provincial atmosphere. South of Hanoi, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the delta region of the Song Hong extends into one of the most beautiful natural miracles in the world, Ha Long Bay, in which both small traditional fishing boats and pleasure boats move between its 1600 islands. Economically, Cambodia is a third world country but its many cultural treasures indicate its rich history. The country's most famous sanctuary is Angkor Wat, which measuring 1200 metres long and 800 metres wide is the largest sacred building in the world. In Laos, that unlike Cambodia, has no access to the sea. Time seems to have stood still. With picturesque karst covered mountains as a backdrop, the small town of Vang Vieng enjoys a beautiful location and has developed into a popular tourist destination, especially with backpackers from all over the world who are in search of adventure. The Khmu Tribe is one of Laos' primeval peoples, that is the largest sub-group of the Lao Theung tribes, that earn their living mainly in agriculture by the planting of ...

(1-6) Indo-China Battle (1945-1975) - Viet Namese, French, Americans, Australians, Koreans, British
The Battle of Dien Bien Phu (French: Bataille de Diên Biên Phu; Vietnamese: Chiến dịch Điện Biên Phủ) was the climactic confrontation of the First Indochina War between the French Union's French Far East Expeditionary Corps and Viet Minh communist revolutionaries. The battle occurred between March and May 1954 and culminated in a comprehensive French defeat that effectively ended the war. Military historian Martin Windrow wrote that Dien Bien Phu was "the first time that a non-European colonial independence movement had evolved through all the stages from guerrilla bands to a conventionally organized and equipped army able to defeat a modern Western occupier in pitched battle."[7] As a result of blunders in the French decision-making process, the French undertook to create an air-supplied base at Dien Bien Phu, deep in the hills of northwestern Vietnam. Its purpose was to cut off Viet Minh supply lines into the neighboring Kingdom of Laos, a French ally, and draw the Viet Minh into a battle that would cripple them. Instead, the Viet Minh, under Senior General Võ Nguyên Giáp, surrounded and besieged the French, who were unaware of the Viet Minh's possession of heavy artillery (including anti-aircraft guns) and their ability to move such weapons to the mountain crests overlooking the French encampment. The Viet Minh occupied the highlands around Dien Bien Phu and were able to fire down accurately onto French positions. Tenacious fighting on the ground ensued, reminiscent of ...
