An album of semi classical songs performed by Mary Bothwell, a Canadian Opera singer whose only real recordings were made on Royale records. Due to the nature of the vinyl and shellac mixture employed in these early Royale pressings and a combination of other factors, the sound quality not that great. For whatever reason, these early releases sound dull and lifeless when compared to later reissues of these releases. Surface noise is also a problem on these early releases, resulting in a dismal sounding record. Thank heavens this album used then new material instead of dubbing material from 78's, as any more additional noise would make for a less then pleasant listening experience. When I first heard these tracks, I found them dreadful. Now I have come to appreciate the technique demonstrated in these sets of recordings. If you like opera, this will be an enjoyable listen, if you don't like opera, then listen anyway.

An album of semi classical songs performed by Mary Bothwell, a Canadian Opera singer whose only real recordings were made on Royale records.
Due to the nature of the vinyl and shellac mixture employed in these early Royale pressings and a combination of other factors, the sound quality not that great. For whatever reason, these early releases sound dull and lifeless when compared to later reissues of these releases. Surface noise is also a problem on these early releases, resulting in a dismal sounding record. Thank heavens this album used then new material instead of dubbing material from 78's, as any more additional noise would make for a less then pleasant listening experience.
