The Red Spectre 1907 Early FIlm - not Melies - El Espectro Rojo
Segundo de Chomón (co-director) Ferdinand Zecca (co-director) Segundo de Chomón (writer) In a strange grotto deep in the bowels of the earth a coffin uprights itself, dances, then opens, and out steps a demonic magician with skeletal face, horns, and cape. He wraps two women (who appear to be in a trance) in fabric, levitates them, and causes them to burst into flames and disappear. As he gathers their ashes in a pitcher a Good Spirit [a young woman who resembles Peter Pan] appears, shakes her head No, and reveals the "souls" of the two women in a secret compartment deeper within the cave. The Good Spirit vanishes in a puff of smoke. The magician then produces 3 glass bottles on pillars, takes them downstage close to the camera, and reveals 3 tiny women in them; one woman beats a tambourine while the other two sway. The magician pours ashes (?) into the bottles, but the Good Spirit reappears and makes these trapped figures disappear in a flash, angering the magician, who chases her away. He makes an easel appear. There is an odd sort of screen on it bearing the Pathe rooster logo. The magician then invents channel-surfing, causing three different "shows" to appear on the screen in rapid succession. The Good Spirit reappears and causes this strange television set to vanish, but the magician creates two more in turn, each more elaborate than the last, with various images of persons and dogs flashing across their screens. Finally, the Good Spirit reveals to the evil magician ...

FRIDA KAHLO (1907~1954) : Biography ~~a Woman in Rebellion (DOCUMENTARY)
Frida Kahlo de Rivera (July 6, 1907 -- July 13, 1954; born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón)[2][3] was a Mexican painter, born in Coyoacán,[4] and perhaps best known for her self-portraits.[5] Kahlo's life began and ended in Mexico City, in her home known as the Blue House. She gave her birth date as July 7, 1910, but her birth certificate shows July 6, 1907. Kahlo had allegedly wanted the year of her birth to coincide with the year of the beginning of the Mexican revolution so that her life would begin with the birth of modern Mexico. At the age of six, Frida developed polio, which caused her right leg to appear much thinner than the other. It was to remain that way permanently.[6] Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.[7] Mexican culture and Amerindian cultural tradition are important in her work, which has been sometimes characterized as Naïve art or folk art.[8] Her work has also been described as "surrealist", and in 1938 André Breton, principal initiator of the surrealist movement, described Kahlo's art as a "ribbon around a bomb".[7] Kahlo had a volatile marriage with the famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera. She suffered lifelong health problems, many of which derived from a traffic accident during her teenage years. These issues are represented in her works, many of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo ...

This short clip is from Davitt McAteer's 1985 25-minutes video - Monongah 1907. The entire video, rich with detail about this disaster also traces the development of mine safety laws in the US. Monongah 1907 is now available on DVD for $14.95. For ordering information, send an email to: droberts@mcateer-assoc.com . And don't miss Davitt McAteer's book, Monongah: The Tragic Story of the 1907 Monongah Mine Disaster, the Worst Industrial Accident in US History, recently published by the West Virginia University Press (2007) www.wvupress.com. "When I heard that Davitt McAteer was working on a book detailing the unparalleled disaster at the Monongah mines, I though it promising news ... no one is positioned better than Davitt MsAteer to examine the Monongah mining disaster of 1907 from all the perspectives required historical, sociological, legal, and economic. Monongah is an important book, long overdue." From the Introduction by Robert B. Reich, former Secretary of the US Department of Labor, 1993 to 1997. Davitt McAteer, ESQ., a native of West Virginia, has devoted much of his professional efforts to mine health and safety issues. During the 1970s, Davitt led the safety and health programs of the United Mine Workers and founded the Occupational Safety and Health Law Center. During the Clinton Administration, he served as the Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health at the United States Department of Labor. 1907 White Steamer - Jay Leno's Garage
The White Steamer was a near instant success, despite the fact that it cost more than a Rolls Royce! As the orders poured in, the Whites found it necessary to form the White Motor Company in 1905 to accommodate massive expansion, and before long, the White Steamer became the White House's first official car and the Army's standard vehicle, according to Jay. Ziegfeld Follies "Glorifying the American Girl" 1907~1931
Photography by Alfred Cheney Johnston, the official photographer of the Zeigfeld Follies. His portraits of the Zeigfeld Girls are considered fine art today. Thanks to the internet his photography is being re-discovered by photographers and collectors worldwide. The beauty of his work and the depth of creativity can no longer be denied. Ziegfeld Girls were the chorus girls from Florenz Ziegfeld's theatrical spectaculars known as the Ziegfeld Follies (1907~1931), which were based on the Folies Bergère of Paris. Many future stars were Ziegfeld Girls, Marion Davies, Paulette Goddard, Joan Blondell, Barbara Stanwyck, Billie Dove, Louise Brooks, Nita Naldi, Mae Murray, Bessie Love, Dorothy Mackaill, Claire Dodd, Cecile Arnold, Iris Adrian and other society and business successes such as Peggy Hopkins Joyce, Helen Gallagher, Anastasia Reilly, and Irene Hayes. Although many future stars started out as Ziegfeld girls, several others were turned down by Florenz Ziegfeld to appear in his revue. Norma Shearer (in 1919), Alice Faye (in 1927), Joan Crawford (in 1924), Lucille Ball (in 1931), Eleanor Powell (in 1927), Hedda Hopper (in 1913), and June Havoc. I included a picture of Josephine Baker, she performed in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1936. They say that we all lose 21 grams at the exact moment of death. They say that it's the weight of the human soul.
Well, it was Dr. Duncan MacDougall of Haverhill, Massachusetts who first attempted to weigh the human soul. In 1907, he placed 6 dying patients on a homemade scale, which also acted as a bed for the patients. More recently in Dan Brown's novel, "the Lost Symbol", there is a segment that explains how "The Institute of Noetic Science" uses noetics to weigh the human soul. After tests on terminally ill patients, it came across that immediately after death, a person's weight dropped.
So, what would happen if they found a way to contain this invincible mass.. this soul.. Obviously the only reason to do this would be to put it in some kind of awesome robot.. yeah!

MAKE presents: The LED
Take a tour through the world of the light-emitting diode. Learn - who invented it, how to use it, and how to make your own.
Collin Cunningham: People are fascinated by light. I mean just glancing over at a display of flashing lights can grab my attention. Do you ever remember sitting around a campfire? Staring at the flames and just being totally transfixed, almost like if you're watching TV. It's comforting, and it can even by hypnotic. Recently, technology has made creating light a whole lot easier to do. For that, we have this little guy to thank. The light emitting diode, or LED for short.
LEDs have a lot of different uses, from a simple power on indicator to traffic signals. LEDs use about ten percent of the energy of a traditional light bulb, and they can last about thirty times longer. That makes them a pretty big hit with businesses looking to do large scale visual communication.
The first person to ever report the effects of a light emitting diode was researching another form of communication. In 1907, a man by the name of H. J. Round was researching radio waves for Marconi Labs. He was using a device called a cats whisker detector, which no, does not contain any cats or part of cats. Round was searching for a sweet spot on a crystal silicon carbide when he noticed something odd. Part of the crystal started to glow, it lit up a pale yellow, and that was an LED.
H. J. Round's crystal experiment was so cool and simple that I had to try it myself. So I got a piece of silicon carbide, then I hooked that up to the positive lead on my power supply. That's an alligator clip. I hooked a little sewing needle to the ground on my power supply. Then I began to search for light emitting zones.
I built my own sort of cats whisker detector in order to keep the needle in place on a particularly bright spot I found. Now I can sit back and enjoy the warm glow of a homemade LED anytime I choose, even though it's pretty dim, but it's still cool.
As far as we know, Round's research into light emitting crystals ended here, which is a shame because he was definitely on to something. But of course that's not the end of the story. Fifteen years later, in imperial Russia, a scientist and inventor named Oleg Vladmirovich Losev noticed that certain diodes in radios started to glow a bit when in use. Losev conducted a lot of heavy research and published his findings in several languages. But, sadly, they seem to have gone unnoticed. It wasn't until 1962, that a visible light emitting diode was made practical by Nick Holonyak working at General Electric. He's widely known as the father of the LED.
The technology that Holonyak brought to the public is remarkably similar to our crystal experiment. A thin metal wire connects one side of the circuit to a small piece of semi-conductive material on the other side. The LED's two leads are cut to different lengths to show you how it should be connected. The longer is called the anode, and that connects to positive. The shorter is the cathode, and that goes to negative. To power an LED, you can just use a simple coin cell. This is a CR2032. And just make sure the longer lead is on the positive side, which is wider and smoother, and negative is on the other. If you plan to use a battery, let's say a nine volt, you'll also need a resistor to limit the current so we don't burn out the LED. Connect negative to the cathode, the shorter lead, and we'll put a 470 ohm resistor between the positive battery and the anode. For more useful info, check out the LED Center, and there's a lot of great history at the LED Museum. For all types of project ideas, info, and inspiration head over to Makezine.com.

BEN FENERBAHÇELİYİM
Ben Fenerbahçeliyim;
Gittiğim her şehirde sebepsizce “Küfür” yerim. Bilet kuyruğunda veya deplasman tribününe girerken itilip kakılırım. Hakaretler işitirim. 3 saat boyunca kapıda bekletirim.
Yasalar benim için vardır. Cezalar, yasaklar benim üstümde denenir. Her zaman suçlu gösterilirim.
Beni pek sevmezler. Düşmanım da boldur. Rakibim kim ise onun tarafında olurlar.
Benim ise tarafım tektir. Fenerbahçe’dir.Ve “Tarafı Fenerbahçe olmayan bertaraf olur”.
Ben Çubuklu’ya ruh veren kişiyim. Tribünde haykıran taraftarım.
Sahada “Onur Mücadelesi” veren futbolcuyum. Emeklerine leke sürülmeye çalışılan “Kocaman Yürekli” Aykut’um. Ben, Lefter’in elini öpen Alex’im. Ben, Ordinaryus lakaplı Lefter’im. Ben, Şeytan Rıdvan’ım, Serkan Acar’ım, Alpaslan Eratlı’yım, Oğuz Çetin’im. Ben, Çubukluyu onuruyla, gururla taşıyan binlerce sporcuyum. Ben Fenerbahçe’nin kurucusuyum. Ben Fenerbahçe’nin “Tek” sahibi olan “Taraftarıyım”.
Ve ben, tribünde avaz avaz bağırıp “Kanaryasın Sen Bizim Canımız” diyen on binlerce insandan biriyim.
İşte Ben FENERBAHÇELİYİM.

Saif-ul-Malook Shaukat Ali (1826-1907)
Saif-ul-Malook The love romance, saif-ul-Malook of mian mohammad Bakhsh (1826-1907) was composed by the poet when he was 36. and the year was 1862. It is a love romance with a significant difference. The poem is overlapped by many layers of romance material, yet the underlying structure is simple and allegoricle. It possesses sufic content too, but even that is formed by the serioisness of its allegorical intention.
