"Slow Ride" is a song composed by 'Lonesome' Dave Peverett and recorded by the rock band Foghat, appearing in 1975 on their fifth album "Fool For The City". This was Foghat's most successful single, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also appears on the 1977 album "Foghat Live", which was their best-selling album at over two million copies. In 2009, "Slow Ride" was named the 45th best hard rock song of all time by VH1. Foghat are a British rock band who had their peak success in the mid- to late-1970s. Their style can be described as 'blues-rock', dominated by the electric and electric slide guitars. The band has achieved five gold records. The group remained popular during the disco era, but their popularity waned in the early 1980s. There are 5 versions of "Slow Ride" on the market. In 1977 Eddie "Bluesman" Kirkland performed with Foghat as his backup band at the NY Palladium. Foghat hosted a benefit concert to start a Blues Archive at the NY Public Library...This is a 'clip' from that show with Eddie, Roger Earl, Craig MacGregor, Dave Peverett and Rod Price. In 2010 Foghat invited Eddie to play on their new Blues CD "Last Train Home" which was released on June 15, 2010. He is featured on two songs, 'Good, Good Day' and 'In My Dreams'. On December 1, 2010, Eddie will play with Foghat at the Iridium Jazz Club in NYC, helping them celebrate "Last Train Home". This is the first time they have played together in 33 years!

Roger Earl gives a good conversation about blues guitarist Eddie Kirkland. Recording the album 1975 "Fool for the City" plenty of details. http Roger Earl is the drummer of the band Foghat, famed for their relentless touring and strong live performances. A founding member, along with guitarist and vocalist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, guitarist Rod Price, and bassist Tony Stevens, Earl is the only living member to have continued with the band throughout all of its various incarnations. Before founding Foghat, Earl was a member of Savoy Brown from 1967 to 1970 and auditioned (unsuccessfully) for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Earl continues to tour with Foghat, playing around 70 dates a year, specialising in city-fests, biker conventions and the "stay where you play" casino circuit, and lives with his wife Linda on the North Shore, Long Island, west of Port Jefferson, New York, well suited to Earl's fishing hobby. The Earls are a musical family with Roger's brother, Colin Earl, playing electric piano for Mungo Jerry, including on their world wide hit "In the Summertime", as well as on a number of Foghat's uptempo hits. Like many long time rock drummers Roger now wears a hearing aid. His most notable trademark with Foghat was his enormous mustache that covered half his face which he doesn't wear anymore.
