Ancient Thracian Treasure Discovered in Bulgaria Tomb
Bulgarian archaeologists unearth ancient golden artefacts, including bracelets with snake heads, a tiara with animal motifs and a horse head piece during excavation works at a Thracian tomb in northern Bulgaria. Bulgarian archaeologists working at a Thracian tomb in northern Bulgaria unearth ancient golden artefacts. Their findings include bracelets with snake heads, a tiara with animal motifs and a horse head piece dating back to the end of the fourth or the beginning of the third century BC. They were discovered in the biggest of 150 ancient tombs of a Thracian tribe, the Getae, that was in contact with the Hellenistic world. A golden ring, 44 female figurines, as well as 100 golden buttons were included among the artefacts. Diana Gergovia is a researcher of Thracian culture and works with the Sofia-based National Archaeology Institute. [Diana Gergova, Archeological Team Head]: (Bulgarian, Female) "These are completely new patterns in the Thracian art, that we have now discovered. We did not expect such an enormous surprise, when we found a wooden box with burned bones and amazing golden artefacts, incredible treasure, high up on the excavation wall." One of the tombs, known as the Tomb of Sveshtari, is included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO, for its unique architectural decor, with half-human, half-plant female figures and painted murals. The Thracians inhabited an area extending over modern Romania and Bulgaria, northern Greece and the European part of Turkey ...

Thracian Gold Treasure Discovered in Bulgaria
"Thracian Gold Treasure" "ancient golden artefacts" "Ancient Treasure" "Treasure" "Treasure hunt" "Bulgarian treasure" "ancient Thracian tomb" "Sveshtari" "Danube River" "ARCHAEOLOGY" "BULGARIA" "GOLD TREASURE" "THRACIAN TOMB" "THRACIANS" "BULGARIA GOLD TREASURE" A golden horse head—an ornament from one end of a long-gone iron horse bit—is part of a 2400-year-old treasure recently discovered in an ancient Thracian tomb in Sveshtari, Bulgaria, archaeologists announced Thursday. The Thracians were ruled by a warrior aristocracy that had access to plentiful gold deposits at the mouth of the Danube River, which contained one of the largest ancient supplies of the metal. Unlike some of the other newfound treasures, this golden ring or brooch looks like it was influenced by art of the ancient Greeks, with whom the Thracians traded. Adorned with lions and fantasy animals, this newfound Thracian jewelry—said to be a tiara or necklace—"looks pretty awesome," Hiebert said. He added, though, that it might be a neck ornament known as a torc. "It doesn't really look like a tiara to me." Newly unearthed gold artifacts from a third-century BC tomb include a golden horse head, a ring or brooch (top right), and tiny busts of a woman, which likely decorated clothing. "You're looking at workmanship made for the elite," Hiebert said. "It's very fine and the motifs reflect all sorts of different influences."

Part 2 - Thracian Invasion
Battle at 4:31 A greek army causes trouble outside of Athena and a battle ensues, after the battle the Thracians declare war on Macedon and siege Thessalonica. They are quickly dispatched of and the newly formed army in the north marches towards Thrace to begin a second invasion, very much spreading the forces of Macedon thin across Greece. Despite the outbreak of war in the north, the macedonian army continue venturing south and take the settlement of Corinth. After this glorious victory the army splits in half and each half heads for one of the remaining two provinces that belong to the Greek Cities. I play as Macedon in the grand campaign, the plan is to unite greece under Macedon and from that point onwards expand on all fronts to build a mighty empire. The Bear dance (Thracian ritual)
The bear dance can be seen on New Year's Eve only in Romania and Balkans. Its origin are older than 2000 yers and it's very similar to the Goat dance. It is said that it drives away the evil spirits and this way the new year what comes will be cleaned up. The origin of this agrarian ritual is Thracian. A young man plays the bear role. He carries a bear skin on his head and shoulders. The skin is decorated with red tassels, mirrors, gold threads and brass nails. He's tied in chains and droved by a bear leader. A herald wearing old military uniform opens the show. Then the bear leader orders the bear to dance. The bear has a real suite of musicians. So he'll dance on drums rhythm or on pipes song. The man leans upon a cudgel while he mimics the bear's rocking gait. He grumbles. He knocks his boots down to the ground. A really great show. The bear's band could also have other masked players as gypsies, old women or evils. In the show the bear dies and revives the same way the old year and new year do.

Rome Total War Macedon Campaign - Part 8: Crushing The Thracians
Battles at 0:20 & 18:14 The siege of the Dacian town of Drobeta commences it is an easy win because I outnumber the enemy and their walls are puny. I then focus on my armies in Thrace, moving up from Byzantium and also moving an army from my capital to the north towards Philippoplis. My army at Philippoplis finally meet the main Thracian army on the battlefield and the pivotal battle for Thrace begins. I play as Macedon in the grand campaign, the plan is to unite greece under Macedon and from that point onwards expand on all fronts to build a mighty empire. Thracians - One Beautiful Mystery
My nickname is a thracian name, the song inte clip are national bulgarian rhodope snong.Thracian tombs can be found dating back to 3000 BC.By the 5th century BC, the Thracian presence was pervasive enough to have made Herodotus call them the second-most numerous people in the part of the world known by him (after the Indians),and potentially the most powerful. The Thracians in classical times were broken up into a large number of groups and tribes, though a number of powerful Thracian states were organized, such as the Odrysian kingdom of Thrace and the Dacian kingdom of Burebista. A type of soldier of this period called the Peltast probably originated in Thrace. The archaeological research of the Thracian culture started in the 20th century and especially after World War II, mainly on the territory of Southern Bulgaria. As a result of intensive excavation works in the 1960s and 1970s a number of Thracian tombs and sanctuaries were discovered. More significant among them are: the Tomb of Sveshtari, the Tomb of Kazanlak, Tatul, Seuthopolis, Perperikon, the Tomb of Aleksandrovo, Sarmizegetusa. On August 19, 2005, some Bulgarian archaeologists announced they had found the first Thracian capital, which was situated near Karlovo in Bulgaria. In November 2008, Archaeologists unearthed a well-preserved 1800-year-old lavishly ornamented four-wheel bronze chariot at an ancient Thracian tomb near the south-eastern village of Karanovo in Bulgaria. In Dabene, Bulgaria, a cache of more than ...
