Tideway dinghys sailing on Windermere and on the River Tamar.
The Tideway is a 12' (3.66m) dinghy designed by L H Walker in 1954 and is the ideal boat for leisurely cruising. Originally wooden clinker it is now also built in fibreglass.
There is an active owners association that organises a number of rallies each year (http://www.tidewaydinghy.org)

London Tideway Improvements - Creating a cleaner, healthier River Thames - Thames Water
London's Victorian sewerage system was designed to overflow into the River Thames during extreme weather when the sewers reached capacity, to prevent homes and streets from flooding.
The system is struggling to cope with the demands of 21st century London, and discharges are now happening much more frequently - around once a week on average. In an average year, 39 million tonnes of sewage is currently discharged into the River Thames.
Thames Water has developed three major engineering schemes to help stop sewer overflows and improve water quality in the River Thames. Two of these schemes are already under way - including the £675m upgrade of London's five major sewage works and the construction of the £635m Lee Tunnel, which will help prevent 16 million tonnes of sewage annually overflowing into the River Lee. The final and most challenging of the three schemes is the proposed Thames Tunnel.

Sporting Challenge - Rowing - Chris Evans Breakfast Show BBC Radio 2
With the Radio 2 Breakfast Show Sporting Challenge even-Stevens at 5 -5, and the annual Oxford and Cambridge boat race just around the corner, Chris Evans and Jonny Saunders headed to the Thames for a rowing challenge with four-time Olympic gold medal winner Sir Matthew Pinsent.
The boys were paired up with some elite rowers from the Tideway Scullers and took to the water to battle it out for the trophy. Watch the video to see who took on the Thames and won.
