Baby striped skunks stomp, scoot, handstand, Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins
Baby striped skunks stomp, scoot, handstand and run into each other. The bigger brother runs right into his sister's butt. They are kind of playing and preparing for life in the wild. They can spray. If I were to stand up, walk away then walk back, they wouldn't recognize me because of skunks poor vision, and they'd probably spray meI am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Striped Skunk in Hampshire Illinois taking a morning walk
Two of my cats were lying across the chairs I used to prop the doors open. Their tails twitched as they watched a robin feeding its baby on the porch railing. Suddenly, both cats jumped up and ran away from the doors as if something that didn't belong had come up on the deck. I spotted movement next to the vegetable garden. For a moment I thought I was looking at a black cat. When I saw who it was, a striped skunk, he was weaving his way around the garden, sniffing and checking under rocks, nibbling on my four inch bean plants. what more information on skunks, go here and search out skunks: web.extension.illinois.edu

Dr. Adam Naylor and Diagnostic Intern Katie White remove a glass jar from the head of a Striped Skunk. Be glad there is no such thing as smell-o-vision, as the skunk sprays Katie through the towel for the entire length of the video (and then some)!

Skunks
mdc.mo.gov Pioneers called this small black and white animal a polecat, but North American Indians gave it the name we use today skunk. The skunk's reputation precedes it, and so can its smell. Though the skunk itself is a clean animal with little body odor, it is able to produce an incredibly foul scent that is long lasting and distinct. The scent producing glands are under the skunk's tail, and by using muscle control, the skunk can accurately shoot its oil based musk up to ten feet. There are two species of skunks in Missouri, the more familiar striped skunk and the lesser known spotted skunk.
