Rare Beatlemania Footage!
Beatlemania was a term used during the 1960s to describe the intense fan frenzy particularly demonstrated by young teen girls directed toward The Beatles during the early years of their success. The word is a portmanteau of "Beatles" and "mania". Andi Lothian, a former Scottish music promoter, claims that he coined the term while speaking to a reporter at the Caird Hall Beatles concert that took place as part of the Beatles Mini-Tour of Scotland, on 7th October 1963, and an early printed use of the word is in The Daily Mirror 2 November 1963 in a news story about the previous day's Beatles concert in Cheltenham. Many fans across the world were known to have Beatlemania, which became common in the United States after The Beatles performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. 'Beatlemania' was characterised by intense levels of hysteria demonstrated by fans both at the actual concerts played by the band and during the band's arrivals and travels to and from locations. -Wikipedia

It's Beatlemania!
"Girls and boys stood together, standing, screaming, moaning, groaning, ripping at their hair, pushing, shoving, falling on the floor and crying, real tears streaming down hundreds and hundreds of faces, smearing their mascara and lipstick. For the first time, I started wondering whether these kids were in some state of trance. What was making them go? When Paul sang I Saw Her Standing There a girl would look at the stage and stare at Paul, her eyes fixed, no blinking in order to make it appear that he was singing to her. I saw YOU standing there."- Larry Kane "They became emotionally, mentally and sexually excited. They foamed at the mouth, burst into tears, hurled themselves like lemmings in the direction of the Beatles, or simply fainted". Hunter Davis John, Paul, George and Ringo were "the boys nextdoor" but they made a huge impact on the world with their music. They were the first british act ever to invade America in 1964. By then they had reigned Japan, Europe, Australia and the USA. They were the most famous and recognisable faces in the world. "We'd compare dreams at school. Tell each other what we did with our favourite Beatle. The dreams were absolutley beautiful. We did a lot of things together, John and I. He made love to me and I'd tell my friends the next day. John was the most important person in my life. When nothing else in the world was good, I'd go to my room and have the Beatles." - Sandi Steward, (american fan) "my career has taken me to scenes of ...

The Beatles - Twist and Shout (with Jimmy Nicol)
1964 www.amazon.com Watch more: lifeofthebeatles.blogspot.com "Twist and Shout" is a song written by Phil Medley and Bert Berns. It was originally titled "Shake It Up, Baby" and recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by The Isley Brothers. It was covered by The Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. The song was covered by The Mamas & the Papas (in the style of a ballad) in 1967 on their album Deliver, and on a film soundtrack by Cliff Richard. It was also covered by The Tremeloes. Most recently Chaka Demus and Pliers (featuring Jack Radics and Taxi Gang) reached No. 1 on the UK charts with their version in January 1994. The Who performed it throughout their career, most notably on Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 and 1982's Who's Last. The Beatles' version of the song enjoyed a resurgence of popularity in 1986 after Matthew Broderick lip synced it in the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Coincidentally, the Rodney Dangerfield film Back to School (released two days after Ferris) also featured the song, this one sung by Dangerfield himself and patterned after the Beatles' arrangement. The use in the two films help propel the single up the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 23 late that summer, giving the group their second chart single of the 1980s (the other being "The Beatles Movie Medley" in 1982). The song's seven week run in the US Top 40 in 1986, combined with its original 16-week run ...
