Welcome to Meta-Wiki, the global community site for the Wikimedia Foundation's projects and related projects. Meta-Wiki's discussions range from coordination and documentation to planning and analysis of future Wikimedia activities. Other meta-focused wikis such as Wikimedia Outreach are specialized projects that have their roots in Meta-Wiki. Related discussion also takes place on Wikimedia mailing lists (particularly wikimedia-l, with its low-traffic equivalent WikimediaAnnounce), IRC channels on Freenode, individual wikis of local Wikimedia chapters, and other places.

	16:	The Wikimedia Foundation is offering new kinds of funding for projects, including grants for individuals. Get involved!
	15:	Wikivoyage, the free travel guide that anyone can edit, is officially launched.

December 2012

	12:	The Affiliations Committee is looking for new members! Apply by January 12, 2013.
	5:	A new project "WikiFocus" is submitted as a proposal to host articles about wiki, wikis and users of wikis.

November 2012

27:

A new project "Wikikultur" is submitted as a proposal to host original works like poetry, songs, essays, theses, novels, etc., whether they were already previously published or not.

4:

A WMF Board portal is created to collect essential information regarding the Board of Trustees.

2:

A discussion for Democratizing the Wikimedia Foundation is started.

October 2012

24-31:

Italian Wikipedia is protesting against the BILL #3491 that would lead to the cessation of its normal activities like free encyclopedia.

2:

A naming poll for the proposed Wikimedia Travel project has now closed. The project will be known as "Wikivoyage".

September 2012

5:

Following a Request for Comment on founding a travel guide, the Wikimedia Foundation has announced that it is seeking declaratory relief against Internet Brands (IB), the owner of Wikitravel, in response to "legal threats" from IB.

August 2012

31:

The Wikimedia Foundation's Legal and Community Advocacy department is holding a Request for Comment on the Legal Fees Assistance Program, which, if approved by the Board following the RfC, would secure funds for legal assistance in appropriate cases for Wikimedia users who serve in a "support role". Editors are invited to comment.

Wikimedia Foundation, Meta-Wiki, and its sister projects

The Wikimedia Foundation is the overarching non-profit foundation that owns the Wikimedia servers along with the domain names, logos and trademarks of all Wikimedia projects and MediaWiki. Meta-Wiki is the coordination wiki for the various Wikimedia wikis.
