Tommy Davidson and Scott Sanders talk variety in films with Black Dynamite
BlackTree TV's Jamaal Finkley sits down with writer/director Scott Sanders, and comedic-actor Tommy Davidson to talk about their new film, Black Dynamite.
SCOTT SANDERS (WRITER/DIRECTOR)
Scott began his career as a television writer working on such hit TV shows as A DIFFERENT WORLD, ROC and THE WAYANS BROTHERS. His directorial debut came on the 1999 HBO feature film THICK AS THIEVES starring Alec Baldwin, Michael Jai White and Andre Braugher. Scott is also one of the most popular DJs in Los Angeles, spinning under the name Suckapunch.
Scott was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He is a graduate University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he studied Radio, TV and Motion Pictures.
TOMMY DAVIDSON/ CREAM CORN
An actor, stand-up comedian, musician, and singer, Tommy Davidsons exceptional range has made him a rising force in entertainment. Perhaps best known as one of the original cast members of the hit television show In Living Color, Davidson has parlayed that success into a flourishing motion picture career. Tommy starred in Spike Lees Bamboozled, where he received acclaim and praise for his turn as Womack/Sleep N Eats, a character which showcased his comedic and dramatic acting abilities. Davidson also starred in Morgan Creek Productions Juwanna Mann released in June 2002. Tommy was seen cracking jokes and doing what he does best, making people laugh, in THE FOX NFL SHOW, which aired weekly on Saturday nights; he also co-hosted this new and unique show with football greats Michael Irvin and Tony Siragusa. He was seen in the provocative urban comedy, Booty Call (Columbia Pictures). Davidson has also starred opposite Jada Pinkett Smith in the romantic comedy, Woo (New Line). He has also made an impressive film debut opposite Halle Berry in Strictly Business. On the small screen, Davidsons voice was heard in the Disney Channel animated series, The Proud Family.
Davidson started his career as a standup comedian in the late 1980s throughout the Washington Metropolitan region, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, performing in various comedy clubs. Performing stand-up in local talent showcases was where he was spotted by concert promoters, who booked him as the opening act for such major music stars such as Patti LaBelle, Kenny G, and Luther Vandross. The next step was Hollywood; he performed at many small clubs, including the Comedy Act Theatre, where among others, he met Robert Townsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans, who would later prove instrumental in Davidsons career. Davidsons first national television appearance was a starring role in Townsends Partners in Crime. Wayans, who offered him the opportunity to audition for a primetime variety show called In Living Color, which became a cult favorite and a huge ratings success, then approached Davidson. Davidsons hilarious impressions of Sammy Davis, Jr., Michael Jackson and others have become infamous. In Living Color led to three Showtime specials: On Strength of New York, Illin in Philly, and Takin it to DC, and a handsome film career such as a reunion with fellow In Living Color alumni, Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura II: When Nature Calls.

Trailer - Baytown Disco - Official Trailer HD (2012)
Release Date: August, 2012 (limited)
Studio: Lleju Productions
Director: Barry Battles
Screenwriter: Barry Battles, Griffin Hood
Starring: Billy Bob Thornton, Eva Longoria, Thomas Brodie Sangster, Clayne Crawford, Daniel Cudmore, Travis Fimmel, Andre Braugher, Paul Wesley
Genre: Action, Comedy
MPAA Rating: R (for strong bloody violence, pervasive language some sexual and drug content)
Plot Summary: The rousing rebel spirit of a family of Southern thugs takes off at breakneck speed in "The Baytown Disco" -- a wickedly playful, high-velocity action-comedy in which three infamously ruthless Alabama brothers find themselves on the wrong side of crooked cops, relentless Feds, mad mobsters, road pirates, tomahawk-wielding bikers, tricky femme fatales and an unforgettable cast of characters as colorful as they are lethal when they finally try to do a single good deed.
Academy Award® winner Billy Bob Thornton and Golden Globe winner Eva Longoria headline this wildly explosive, yet ultimately moving, tale of honor breaking out among thieves with madcap results. It all starts when the fetching Celeste (Longoria) has a falling out with her nefarious ex-husband Carlos (Thornton) who kidnaps her beloved son, Rob (Thomas Brodie Sangster). Knowing her ex can be a maniacal psychopath, not to mention a bit trigger-happy, she turns for help to the most bad-ass, lawless hit-man trio in Alabama: the Oodie Brothers.
Ringleader Brick (Clayne Crawford, "24," "The Glades"), mute wrestling phenom Lincoln (Daniel Cudmore, "The Twilight Saga"), and the baby of the brothers, the kick-ass G.I. McQueen (Travis Fimmel, "The Beast") are known for being mean as a bag of rattlesnakes --and measly kidnap rescues are not on their menu of services. But when Brick is unexpectedly moved by Celeste's plight, what he thinks is going to be an easy smash-and-grab job turns out to be the most hair-raising and hilariously intense adventure of his and his brothers' harrowing careers.
Suddenly the Oodies have their hometown Sheriff (Andre Braugher, "Men of a Certain Age," "Salt"), in a tangle; a pesky DEA Agent (Paul Wesley, "Vampire Diaries") on their trail, and Carlos and his heinous assortment of henchman out for their hides. With no one quite who or what they seem, they are headed for a showdown -- and a shot at redemption -- they never saw coming.

Douglas Fairbanks -The Three Musketeers -A great adventure film- FULL movie -1921- Part 1 of 2
Douglas Fairbanks (as D'Artagnan)'s greatest ambition is to join the King's royal swordsmen, "The Three Musketeers". And, after impressing the three best swordsmen in Paris, Douglas Fairbanks becomes their fourth blade. He also finds love, with Marguerite De La Motte (as Constance), and much palace intrigue. Nigel de Brulier (as Cardinal Richelieu) makes life particularly irksome, involving Fairbanks and friends in schemes against weak a King Adolphe Menjou (as Louis XIII), and his unfaithful Queen Mary MacLaren (as Anne).
Alexandre Dumas' classic is a perfect vehicle for Fairbanks; who, after the success of his "Zorro", struck box office gold with a series of classy audience pleasing productions. Iit's certainly true that Fairbanks' 1920s films had an indelible impact upon subsequent adaptations. Fairbanks, through the force of his personality, didn't so much "play" characters like "D'Artagnan" as much as he made the characters play him.
Fred Niblo (director) and Arthur Edeson (photographer) create a great swashbuckling atmosphere. Nigel de Brulier steals the acting honors, with his cunning, cat-stroking "Richelieu"; the best supporting player will reprise his role in a trio of additional "Musketeers" films, including the superior Fairbanks sequel "The Iron Mask" (1929). Pretty "leading lady" De La Motte (from "Zorro") and others will also return. After all, it is... "All for one and one for all."
Nigel De Brulier who plays Cardinal Richelieu, would also play the role in the 1935 film of the same name. In addition, he also played Richelieu in the 1929 film "The Iron Mask" and the 1939 film "The Man in the Iron Mask."
Douglas Fairbanks (May 23, 1883 -- December 12, 1939) was an American actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He was best known for his swashbuckling roles in silent films such as The Thief of Bagdad, Robin Hood, The Mark of Zorro and The Three Musketeers.
Fairbanks signed a contract with Triangle Pictures in 1915 and began working under the supervision of D.W. Griffith. His first film was titled The Lamb, and in the film, he debuted his remarkable athletic abilities that would gain wide attention among theatre audiences.
Fairbanks met actress Mary Pickford at a party in 1916 and they began an affair. In 1917, the couple joined Fairbanks' friend Charlie Chaplin selling war bonds by train across the U.S. Pickford and Chaplin were then the two highest paid film stars in Hollywood.Fairbanks was determined to have Pickford become his wife, but she was still married to actor Owen Moore. He finally gave her an ultimatum. She then obtained a fast divorce in the small Nevada town of Minden on March 2, 1920. Fairbanks leased the Beverly Hills mansion Grayhall and was rumoured to have used it during his courtship of Pickford.
The couple married on March 28, 1920. Fairbanks and Pickford separated in 1933, after he began an affair with Sylvia, Lady Ashley. They divorced in 1936, with Pickford keeping the Pickfair estate. Within months Fairbanks and Ashley were married in Paris. In December 1939, at 56, Fairbanks had a heart attack in his sleep and died a day later at his home in Santa Monica. By some accounts[citation needed], he had been obsessively working out against medical advice, trying to regain his once-trim waistline. Fairbanks's famous last words were, "I've never felt better." His funeral service was held at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather Church in Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery where he was placed in a crypt in the Great Mausoleum. He was deeply mourned and honored by his colleagues and fans for his contributions to the film industry and Hollywood.
