Sediment Source or Provenance
In this video, I discuss some of the basic ideas about using sediment grain composition to identify the source of the sediment. This is called provenance analysis. If physical weathering dominates, the resulting sediment has the same composition as the original rock types, so one can distinguish volcanic from metamorphic sediment sources for example. Chemical weathering alters the composition of the grains, so it can be more difficult to identify the sediment source. However, some grains are resistant to chemical weathering and can still be used.

What is it ?
Sediment in a city water storage tank. Sediment can be a habitat for bacteria viruses and protozoa. Keeping your water storage tanks clean may be one of the most overlooked maintenance procedures in the water industry. Out of sight and out of mind, sediment in the bottom of your water storage tanks is never seen and rarely thought of. The sediment that builds up in almost all potable water tanks can be a habitat for bacteria and other contaminates like cryptosporidium. Contaminates can get a foothold in the sediment out of reach of the chlorine entering the tank. In 2005 the a National Assessment of Tap Water Quality was published by the Environmental Working Group found that water suppliers across the US detected 260 contaminants in water served to the public. Keeping your tanks clean is the best way to ensure the health of your water system. If you know someone who works for a water department or is on a city council, please pass this video along Visit www.ronperrin.com

Jemapur - Clarte
The latest film by W+K Tokyo Lab creator, Genki Ito.
A curiosity toward science unfolds into an unknown world...
Taking as its inspiration the sub-atomic world of a nuclear fusion reaction,
Clarte visually re-imagines this microcosm into a beautifully poetic
animation, pulsing and flowing along with Jemapur’s dark and textured sound.
Experimenting with HDV recording, analog footage of milk floating on water,
sediment in rotten wine, and caustics from reflected projector lights were
all incorporated into the digital animation.

The work folds for the Lindenau Museum (Altenburg, Germany) may be understood as a rapprochement with the history of the museum’s collection of plaster casts. I was particularly interested in the ancient, fragmented bodies – how through the loss of limbs they became almost abstract, fragmentary sculptures and yet still disclosed a nearly uncanny vitality. Also noteworthy is that the collection entails sculptures, Greek in origin, that have been replicated time and time again. Hewn from marble and partially painted in color, the originals were repeatedly copied in marble or plaster in different places across centuries, despoiled of color and slurred in detail.
Despite these multiple re-shapings that attend the loss of the original’s memory, new meanings and frictions arise with each copy in each respective present. They are the precondition for over 2400 years of the ongoing revitalization of the legacy of antiquity. The fold, a continually recurring visual and conceptual motif in my works, is for me the pictorial metaphor for these layers and distortions of meaning. In the projection the fold becomes connected to the fragmentary sculptures, swirls around them, makes them flow with bygone colors, protects or clothes them, gives them peace and lets them come alive for a moment, in order then to be stored as a further layer in the sediment of oblivion.

T-Factor (Time lapse)
Introducing T-Factor (in the Swamp City).
This is our first project in Timelapse sequence (a Movie from photos). We started in July and finished in December 2011. Location is a capital City of Slovenia. http://www.ljubljana.si/en/
There are some 30 different locations in this area where we took the pictures, of course some of them were not included in this film. We also catched a qualifying football game for Euro 2012 on the new stadium between Slovenia and Estonia.
There are a lot of good Timelapse movies in Vimeo, but we wanted to do something more dramatic.
For the music credit goes to Epic Soul Factory; http://soundcloud.com/epic-soul-factory
The gear we used is Canon EOS 5D MK2 and Canon EOS 7D. Lense kit; Canon EF 16-35mm, Canon EF 28-105 mm, Canon EF-S 18-135mm and Sigma Telephoto 120-400mm DG OS HSM
Shots were edited, blured and stabilized in After Effects. We add some special effects and animations too.

Ljubljana city stays beside swamp that is called Ljubljana Marshes or Ljubljansko Barje.
This almost 160 square kilometres large plain, originated some two million years ago through the sinking of an extensive area of the Ljubljana basin. Consequently, the local rivers deposited huge amounts of shingle and sediments there, virtually damming the Ljubljanica river where it joined the Sava and inundating the entire Barje basin at the same time. Some 6,000 years ago, the Barje lake dried up, leaving a marshy plain in its place. In its greater part, layers of peat were formed, in places even up to 9 metres thick.
Although this boggy area was in no way an ideal environment for people to settle there, numerous archaeological finds speak of the fact that the area of Ljubljansko Barje had been inhabited from the very Copper Age onwards. This was the time of the prominent pile dwellings as well as of highly developed, technologically advanced and with wider European environment linked cultures, whose pottery and copper artefacts still astonish the lovers of everything beautiful. You can find more here: http://www.ljubljanskobarje.si/?lang=en
This place is a theatre. It`s inhabitants are actors. We all are actors. The future of the race is in our hands. Should we gamble?
Stay tuned.

Rusco Filters, Sediment Filters for Whole House, Business, and Industrial Water Filtration
Having problems with sand or sediment in your water? Rusco Filters www.freshwatersystems.com are the ideal solution for removing sand and sediment from water for your home, irrigation systems, business, and industrial applications. Rusco started in 1985 with the introduction of the Rusco Spindown Sediment and Sediment Trapper water filters www.freshwatersystems.com .Consumers and businesses raved over the Rusco filters, sometimes referred to as Vu-Flow sediment filters, because it is an alternative to the standard throw-away type filters. The benefit of the Spindown Rusco filter is its ability to be cleaned and reused. The tornado (spin-down action) effect created by the patented process is unique design of the Rusco sediment trapper element which allows debris to settle in the bottom of the clear cover, trapping sediment away from the screen. Rusco filters, sometimes referred to as Vu Flow filters www.freshwatersystems.com or Campbell filters, are manufactured in the USA from NSF approved materials.

RUSCO Spin Down and Sediment Trapper Water Filter Systems
www.waterfilters.net Aquaman features the RUSCO spin down and sediment trapper water filters. The RUSCO water filters are designed for sediment removal of large particle size sediment 100 microns and larger. Sand is typically 100-150 microns. With their unique cyclone "spin down" action, the RUSCO water filters self clean the filter element. Designed to be infinitely reusable, each RUSCO sediment filter has a flush valve that allows the user to purge out the collected sediment rather than having to replace the filter element. Filter elements are available in a variety of micron ratings and in both polyester or stainless steel varieties. These extremely durable water filters are perfect for pre-irrigation system or pre-softener filtration. Also available in chemical resistant and high temperature versions, RUSCO offers a product for nearly every sediment water filter application.Aquaman is a Water Quality Association Certified Water Specialist.
