(Dreams Are My) Reality - by Richard Sanderson
This dreamy love ballad, recorded in 1980, was the perfect theme for the 1982 French coming of age comedy-drama "La Boum", which launched the career of the then 14 year old Sophie Marceau. Here the song beautifully envelopes scenes from the 1953 fantasy film "Lili" starring Lesley Caron. This original 45rpm record can be found on the Internet at Thursday's Golden Goodies, the vinyl lovers' candy store.

Me singing "Hi-Lili Hi-Lo" from "Lili"
In a way this attempt is a tribute to the wonderful story brought onto the screen in 1953, which gripped my heart by both its apparent simplicity and deep underlying complexity. Though this karaoke was somehow labelled as Jimmy Durante's version, I hope it still characterises the film (though it is not exactly the tune used in the movie).

Zsa Zsa Gabor Tribute
Here are two classic songs performed by the great crooner Al Martino, chosen to enhance the beauty of excentric Zsa Zsa Gabor. Zsa Zsa Gabor (born in 1917) is a Hungarian-born American actress and socialite. She was born Sári Gábor in Budapest, Hungary (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire). She had two sisters, Magda and Éva, both well-known actresses and socialites. Gabor's mother was of Jewish ancestry and was related to Annette Tillemann, the wife of politician Tom Lantos. Gabor was named after the then top Hungarian actress Sári Fedák, also called Zsa Zsa because her daughter was unable to pronounce the name Sári, which is the Hungarian equivalent of Sarah. Following studies at a Swiss boarding-school, Gabor won the Miss Hungary beauty contest in 1936, but was disqualified for being underage. On a trip to Vienna in the same year, she was discovered by the famous tenor Richard Tauber and was invited to sing the soubrette rôle in his new operetta "Der singende Traum" ("The Singing Dream") at the Theater an der Wien, her first stage appearance. Gabor has been married nine times (she is namely Paris Hilton's great-aunt!). In 1974, Gabor purchased from Elvis Presley a two-story Bel Air home with an eccentric-looking French roof, built by Howard Hughes. In the late 1950's, Gabor had dinner with Frank Sinatra at LaRue's on the Sunset Strip and spent only one romantic evening with him. Gabor also had a relationship with Porfirio Rubirosa, a noted Dominican international ...

On Green Dolphin Street - Jazz Piano solo improvisation
"Green Dolphin Street" by Bronisław Kaper. The latter for the 1947 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film of the same name. He also scored the MGM film musical Lili (1953) and the TV series The FBI (1965-1974). You can also visit my other new channel: www.youtube.com There I just start to make some tutorials for Jazz musicians beginners, and more :-) I hope you enjoy! More about the composer: Bronisław Kaper began playing the piano at the age of six, and soon demonstrated considerable talent on this instrument. He studied composition and piano at the Warsaw Conservatory, and law at Warsaw University, in deference to his father's wishes. Soon after completing his studies, Kaper went to Berlin - then a city with many theaters and cabarets, where many artists from Eastern Europe - mainly Russia, Poland and Hungary were trying their luck. In Berlin, in the late 1920s, Kaper met another young composer, the Austrian Walter Jurmann. The two decided to work as a team, first in Berlin and then, after the Nazis took power in Germany, in Paris. The emergence of sound film created a major market for their talents. In Paris, they composed music for films directed by persons who had fled Hitler. In 1935, upon being offered a seven-year contract with MGM by Louis B. Mayer, Kaper and Jurmann emigrated to the United States, where they continued their work. One of their first American films was the Marx Brothers comedy A Night at the Opera (1935), for which they scored the song "Cosi-Cosa". Kaper went ...

Invitation - Jazz piano (Trio)
for the midifil and backing track just visit: tinyurl.com You can also visit my other new channel: www.youtube.com There I just start to make some tutorials for Jazz musicians beginners, and more :-) You have heard my version of "INVITATION" composed by: Bronisław Kaper (February 5, 1902 April 26, 1983) He was a Polish film composer who scored films and musical theater in Germany, France, and the USA. The American immigration authorities misspelled his name as Bronislau Kaper. He was also variously credited as Bronsilaw Kaper, Bronislaw Kapper, Benjamin Kapper, and Edward Kane. Kaper is now perhaps best remembered as the composer of the jazz standards "Invitation" (with words by Paul Francis Webster) and "Green Dolphin Street" the latter for the 1947 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film of the same name. He also scored the MGM film musical Lili (1953) and the TV series The FBI (1965-1974). GKelly&LCaron; AmericanInParis2
Leslie Caron (born 1 July 1931) is a French film actress and dancer, who appeared in 45 films between 1951 and 2003. Caron is best known for the musical films An American in Paris (1951), Lili (1953), Daddy Long Legs (1955), Gigi( 1958), and for the non-musical films Fanny (1961), The L-Shaped Room (1962), and Father Goose (1964). She received two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. She speaks French and English. She is one of the few dancers or actresses who can say that they have danced with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Rudolf Nureyev. Gene Kelly (August 23, 1912 -- February 2, 1996) was an American dancer, actor, singer, film director and producer, and choreographer. A major exponent of 20th century filmed dance, Kelly was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks and the likeable characters that he played on screen. Although he is known today for his performance in Singin' in the Rain, he was a dominant force in Hollywood musical films from the mid 1940s until this art form fell out of fashion in the late 1950s. His many innovations transformed the Hollywood musical film, and he is credited with almost single-handedly making the ballet form commercially acceptable to film audiences.

Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo → LP Film Encores Vol. 1 (Mantovani)
