Tara,Perucac,Drinska regata,Zaovine 2010
Tara Mountain, part of the Outer Dinaric Alps, is located in western Serbia and stands at 1000-1500 meters above sea level. The mountain's slopes are clad in dense forests with numerous high-altitude clearings and meadows, steep cliffs, deep ravines carved by the nearby Drina River and many karst, or limestone caves. The mountain is a popular tourist center. Tara's national park encompasses a large part of the mountain. Tara's national park was established in 1981 and it encompasses Tara and Zvijezda mountains, in a large bend of the Drina River. The size of the park is about 220 square kilometers with altitudes varying from 250 to 1500 meters above sea level. The park's management office is located in nearby Bajina Bašta. The national park consists of a group of mountain peaks with deep picturesque gorges between them. The most striking of these gorges is the Drina Gorge, with its sheer drops from 1000-250 meters and extensive views of western Serbia and nearby Bosnia. The area is also characterised by karst caves, pits, springs, and breathtaking vista points. Forests account for three quarters of this national park's area, some of them being the best preserved and well-kept in Europe. Tara also boasts a rare endemic Tertiary species, the Picea omorika, or Serbian Spruce, which is now protected in a small area of the park. Because of its rarity and scientific importance, it has been placed under national protection. Locally, Tara is home to many different species of ...

Welcome to Croatia
Geography of Croatia Croatia is located in Central and Southeast Europe, bordering Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the south-east, Montenegro to the south-east, the Adriatic Sea to the south-west and Slovenia to the northwest. It lies mostly between latitudes 42° and 47° N and longitudes 13° and 20° E. Part of the territory in the extreme south surrounding Dubrovnik is a practical exclave connected to the rest of the mainland by territorial waters, but separated on land by a short coastline strip belonging to Bosnia and Herzegovina around Neum.[77] The territory covers 56594 square kilometres (21851 square miles), consisting of 56414 square kilometres (21782 square miles) of land and 128 square kilometres (49 square miles) of water. It is the 127th largest country in the world.[1] Elevation ranges from the mountains of the Dinaric Alps with the highest point of the Dinara peak at 1831 metres (6007 feet) near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the south[1] to the shore of the Adriatic Sea which makes up its entire south-west border. Insular Croatia consists of over a thousand islands and islets varying in size, 48 of which are permanently inhabited. The largest islands are Cres and Krk,[1] each of them having an area of around 405 km2. The hilly northern parts of Hrvatsko Zagorje and the flat plains of Slavonia in the east (which is part of the Pannonian Basin) are traversed by major rivers such as Sava, Drava, Kupa and Danube ...

Train ride through Serbia
On a train trip through the Serbian countryside from Belgrade to Podgorica in Montenegro. The train used carriages from the Montenegrin train company and I treated myself to first class. After leaving Belgrade, the journey goes through the Šumadija region of Central Serbia and the towns of Barajevo, Lazarevac and Lajkovaac, before climbing into the foothills of the Dinarides around the city of Valjevo. Getting higher and higher, the ride passes through Kosjerić and Požega. After the city of Užice, the train is in the Zlatibor region and towards the highest peaks in the Dinaric Alps. The train passes briefly into Bosnia and Herzegovina before stopping at Priboj in the Sandžak/Raška region that borders Montenegro. Prijepolje is the last major town in Serbia before crossing into Montenegro. The scenes in the video are around the village of Slovac on the Kolubara River (between Lajkovac and Valjevo), in the Gradac and Skrapež Valleys (between Valjevo and Kosjerić) and leaving the station in Užice.

Bosnia
Bosnia's rugged Dinaric Alps create a colossal karst landscape populated by snow clad mountains, gushing springs, steep crystal clear creeks, emerald green rivers, lush valleys, primeval forests, wolves, bear, ancient architecture, and a complex culture and history. The origin of the name Bosnia dates back to the Roman Empire and the term bosana meaning water -- the regions most plentiful resource. On route to ether the Adriatic Sea or Black Sea Bosnia's many rivers have carved dramatic canyons and exciting passageways ripe for exploration by intrepid padlers.

Historic, War-Torn Sarajevo, the Gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a population of over 300000 people Sarajevo is located in the Sarajevo valley of Bosnia, surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and situated along the Miljacka River in the heart of Southeastern Europe and the Balkans. Sarajevo is the leading business and cultural centre of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts contribute to its status as Bosnia and Herzegovina's major economic center. The city is historically famous for its traditional religious diversity, with adherents of Islam, Orthodoxy, Catholicism and Judaism coexisting there for centuries. Due to this long and rich history of religious diversity, Sarajevo is often called the "Jerusalem of the Balkans". Although settlement in the area stretches back to prehistoric times, the modern city arose as an Ottoman stronghold in the 15th century. Sarajevo has attracted international attention several times throughout its history. In 1885 Sarajevo was the first city in Europe and the second city in the world to have a full-time electric tram network running through the city, the first being San Francisco, California. ] In 1914 it was the site of the assassination of the Archduke of Austria that sparked World War I. Seventy years later, it hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics. For nearly four years, from 1992--1996, the city suffered from a siege during the Bosnian War for independence ...

Vjetrenica Cave
Vjetrenica (pronounced [ʋjɛtrɛ̌nitsa], which means "wind cave" or "blowhole") is the largest and most important cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of the most interesting caves in the Dinaric Alps mountain range, which is famous worldwide for its karstic and speleological riches. Its entrance it not far from the village of Zavala in southern Herzegovina. In the warmer parts of the year a strong blast of cold air blows from its entrance, which is very attractive in the middle of the rocky, hot and waterless terrain. The cave has been explored and described to a total of about 6.7 km in length; of this the main channel is about 2.47 km long. It runs from the edge of Popovo Polje to the south, and on the basis of analysis of the terrain, geologists have predicted that Vjetrenica could stretch right to the Adriatic Sea in the Republic of Croatia, 15-20 km away from its entrance. Along with the hydrological arguments, this assumption is also supported by the "unnatural" end of Vjetrenica in the form of a huge heap of stone blocks that have caved in. Vjetrenica, as it known, is the richest cave in the world in terms of subterranean biodiversity: among more than two hundred different species are registered in it, almost hundred are troglophiles, a great number of them are narrow endemic, 15 are stenoendemic, and about 37 were discovered and described in Vjetrenica for the first time.

Croatia
Croatia is located in South-Central Europe. Its shape resembles that of a crescent or a horseshoe, which flanks its neighbours Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. To the north lie Slovenia and Hungary; Italy lies across the Adriatic Sea. Its mainland territory is split in two non-contiguous parts by the short coastline of Bosnia and Herzegovina around Neum. Its terrain is diverse, including: plains, lakes and rolling hills in the continental north and northeast (Central Croatia and Slavonia, part of the Pannonian Basin); densely wooded mountains in Lika and Gorski Kotar, part of the Dinaric Alps; rocky coastlines on the Adriatic Sea (Istria, Northern Seacoast and Dalmatia). The country is famous for its many national parks. Croatia has a mixture of climates. In the north and east it is continental, Mediterranean along the coast and a semi-highland and highland climate in the south-central region. Offshore Croatia consists of over one thousand islands varying in size. The largest islands in Croatia are Cres and Krk which are located in the Adriatic Sea. The Danube, the second longest river in Europe, runs through the city of Vukovar. [edit] Counties
