Fascination Nature - National Parks USA Vol. 1
Early in the morning, mist cloaks the deep valleys of the Grand Canyon. Soon it clears to reveal a huge, magical world. Millions of years ago, erosion and the relentless power of the Colorado River created this magnificent landscape and even today the river continues to force its way through the rock, sand and mud of the Grand Canyon. The first to discover the canyons were the Anasazi Indians who settled in the region around a thousand years ago. They hunted for food and also cultivated corn, pumpkins and beans in many of the neighbouring valleys and even today a small Indian tribe lives in a nearby canyon. For many years Monument Valley and its distinctive mesas in the northern part of Arizona have become one of the most famous natural landmarks in the United States. The glowing landscape owed its original fame to the American film industry and several famous western classics were filmed amid its striking scenery. The splendour of the Mesa Verde, or 'Green Table', is well described by its name. The seemingly endless landscape reveals a broad and idyllic plain. Park Point is the highest vantage point, two thousand six hundred metres above sea level. The plateau is rich with forest and game and the Mesa's oldest archaeological discoveries date back around twelve thousand years. Zion National Park attained its present day dimensions by 1939 and since then an increasing number of visitors have witnessed its magnificent rock formations. Despite, by American standards, its ...

Fascination Nature - National Parks USA Vol. 3
Just outside the town of Page in the state of Arizona, a narrow and unimpressive entrance leads into the mysterious world of Antelope Canyon. The Antelope Creek River has over the course of thousands of years cut a fascinating canyon into the red sandstone and created a natural work of art, a true celebration of form and colour, unearthly and of amazing beauty. The Grand Staircase has five different vegetation zones and thus boasts a remarkable variety of indigenous trees and plants. It is divided into three vast areas, the Grand Staircase, the Kaiparowits Plateau and the Escalante Canyons. Geographically, Death Valley is a truly remarkable national park and Badwater is the deepest point in the entire western hemisphere. The bizarre landscape of the mysterious Devil´s Cornfield really does seem to have been scorched by the heat of another planet. But it is actually the relatively high salt content of the terrain that is responsible for its strange and desolate landscape. The Capitol Reef National Park is a mighty section of the earth's crust that extends for around a hundred and sixty kilometres. Today, the numerous sediments that are contained within the stone strata are visible as long, colourful ribbons and strips within the rocks of this region. At Yosemite Falls steep rocks tower up more than seven hundred metres and it is the park's highest and most impressive waterfall. The surrounding forests are also attractive but the most famous sight of the region are the nine ...

Melissa and I take a trip to Lunenburg NS, home of the Bluenose Schooner, and explore the sea caves at The Ovens National Park. Fascination Nature - National Parks USA Vol. 2
An extensive, scant desert landscape surrounds the Petrified Forest National Park, east of Arizona. Two hundred million years ago this region was a swampland inhabited by various species of dinosaur whose fossilised remains can be found throughout the park. The sight of the magnificent rock formations of Bryce Canyon to the southwest of Utah is a truly breathtaking experience. In their native tongue the region's Paiute Indians once named this remarkable place as, "Red rocks that stand like men in a bowl-shaped canyon". Since the first settlers arrived in Bryce Canyon many have found it difficult to describe this beautiful and unique world of natural stone. The sheer vastness of the region along with its seemingly endless variety of rock formations makes any visit a rewarding and memorable experience. It is from the steep cliffs of New England's coast to the north of the State of Maine that the power of the sea manifests itself and as soon as the mist begins to clear in the Acadia National Park the view reveals the magnificent forests that have made it such a popular sightseeing destination. From September to the end of November, the forests of New England shine out in remarkable and truly amazing colour. Surrounded by the grey limestone of the Muddy Mountains the rocks in the Valley Of Fire, the oldest state park in Nevada, glow with a remarkable intensity. The red rocks do indeed appear to burn in a magical fire that seems to transform them into stone. Mono lake is the ...

Poas Volcano National Park Tours Costa Rica To: http://www.PlanetaVivoCr.Com
Poas Volcano National Park Tours Costa Rica - La Paz Waterfall Garden Tours Costa Rica - Botos lagoon Tours Costa Rica. www.planetavivocr.com Poas is a strato volcano, which rises 2708 meters above sea level. It is one of the most spectacular Volcanoes In Costa Rica, with a breathtaking landscape. It has also produced excellent soils for harvest and has enormous potential for the production of energy from hydrological and geothermal resources. Besides the main crater, Botos Lake and the cone of Frantzius, there are at least half a dozen pyroclastic cones around savannah woodland of Redonda and Bajos Del Tigre. These cones are made of small lava flows, ash, lapilli and fusiform bombs. In the park, there are four main habitats in areas with little or no vegetation, covering an area of arrayan, a stunted forest, and a cloud forest. Examples of the flora include small cypress trees, tucuico, small cedar and small cypres. The dwarf forest is predominant in this area. Some mammals live in the park. These include marmots (marsupials), shrews that are among the smallest mammals in the world, bats and more than 79 species of birds such as sooty robins, black guan, Quetzal and the emerald toucan. Poas Volcano Park is situated in the northeastern city of Alajuela, located near the San Jose, in the Central valley.
