Ostrogothic Kingdom: Germanic Conquest
The Ostrogothic Kingdom established by the Ostrogoths in Italy and neighbouring areas lasted from 493 to 553. In Italy the Ostrogoths replaced Odoacer, the de facto ruler of Italy who had deposed the last emperor of the Western Roman Empire in 476. The Gothic kingdom reached its zenith under the rule of its first king, Theodoric the Great. Most of the social institutions in the late Western Roman Empire were preserved during his rule. OSTROGOTHIC KINGDOM en.wikipedia.org Theodoric the Great (454 - August 30, 526) was king of the Ostrogoths (471 - 526), ruler of Italy (493 - 526), and regent of the Visigoths (511526). He became a hero of Germanic legend as Þeodric in English legends, Dietrich von Bern in German legends, and as Þjóðrekr and Þiðrekr in Norse mythology. THEODORIC THE GREAT en.wikipedia.org The Ostrogoths were a branch of the Goths, an East Germanic tribe that played a major role in the political events of the late Roman Empire. The other branch was the Visigoths. The Ostrogoths established a relatively short-lived successor state of Rome in Italy and the Balkans, even briefly incorporating most of Hispania and southern Gaul. They reached their zenith under their Romanised king Theodoric the Great, who patronised such late Roman figures as Boethius and Cassiodorus, in the first quarter of the sixth century. By mid-century, however, they had been conquered by Rome in the Gothic War (535 - 554), a war with devastating consequences for Italy. OSTROGOTHS en ...

Ostrogoth's Invasion- Episode 1
This is episode one of what will later become a series of videos about the war between Ostrogoths and Sassanids. I thought it was a nice idea to add some storyline to my custom battles. It was inspired by Kinshejsi's ROTPS. Check his videos out if you haven't done that already ;) They're awesome!

Invasio Barbarorum: Roman Emperor Theodosius I vs Ostrogothic King Vithimer
While Playing the Eastern Roman campaign in Invasio Barbarorum Flagellum Dei VII, i gathered an army of my best & full-skilled units under Emperor Theodosius I & set out of Constantinople on a Campaign northwards starting with the Ostrogoths & their King Vithimer at Napoca. My army of 3083 Romano-Byzantines had to face 5869 Ostrogoths from front & rear. The Ostrogoths had an army of 2856 men under King Vithimer & 2 other smaller armies of 1683 men under Cniva & 1330men under Ermaneric (the future king) but Ermaneric & his men arrived a bit late in the battle & retreated soon after i attacked them, however, with what i had left after this battle i also destroyed him & his men when i captured Napoca. Anyway, during this battle my men killed 3840 Ostrogoths including both Ostrogothic commanders King Vithimer & Cniva while i lost only 317men. A CRUSHING VICTORY!!!

1-5 Germanic Tribes 1 - Barbarians Against Romans
Germania, Germani, Germanica have all been used to refer to the group of peoples comprising of the German Tribes in the first centuries CE (AD), We have good and reliable written information from the Roman author Tacitus' Germania and Agricola, as well as other sources. The Migration Period, also called Barbarian Invasions or Völkerwanderung, is a name given by historians to a human migration which occurred within the period of roughly AD 300--700 in Europe, marking the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages. The migration included the Goths, Vandals, and Franks, among other Germanic, Bulgar and Slavic tribes. The migration may have been triggered by the incursions of the Huns (not a Germanic tribe), in turn connected to the Turkic migration in Central Asia, population pressures, or climate changes. The migration movement may be divided into two phases; the first phase, between AD 300 and 500, largely seen from the Mediterranean perspective, put Germanic peoples in control of most areas of the former Western Roman Empire. (See also: Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Burgundians, Alans, Langobards, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Suebi, Alamanni). The first to formally enter Roman territory — as refugees from the Huns — were the Visigoths in 376. Tolerated by the Romans on condition that they defend the Danube frontier, they rebelled, eventually invading Italy and sacking Rome itself (410) before settling in Iberia and founding a 200-year-long kingdom there. They were ...

Invasio Barbarorum: Western Romans vs Visigoths & Ostrogoths
An army of Western Romans vs an army of Visigoths & another army of Ostrogths. At first i deployed my formation with the refused infantry line but as the enemy got closer & in such battles i thought it better to deploy my wings a bit back on the very sides of the infantry. As u can see the throwing of Plumbatae darts & the Spiculum javelins is devestating along with arrows from the Sagittarii Graves archers, many of the enemy infantry were slain even before hand-to-hand contact. The Clibinarii heavy cavalry are so awesome they take out whatever comes infront of them, Catafractarii also but the Clibinarii are really awesome. With what i had left after the battle i could easily take on another army & defeat it.

Making of 476 AD AFTER: Sample of Ostrogoths running. After Multiplication
Here is a sample of the same shot of Ostrogoths running, AFTER the Multiplication via Motion Tracking and Rotoscoping. The original Barbarians are cloned and multiplied the in different times of motion, and on various places and distances on the screen. In this fast speed running shot, which was shot at 24p (24 frames per second on HD), we see the process of cloning every one of those original Barbarians, and slowly one by one, multiplying them, and creating an entire army of Ostrogoths running in the background. RTW/Invasio Barbarorum FD: The Historical Battle of Taginae 552 AD (((With Full Edited Units)))
The Battle of Taginae or Battle of Busta Gallorum 552 AD is when the Eunuch Byzantine General Narses Decisively defeats the Ostrogoths in Italy led by their King Totila. The Ostrogothic heavy & light cavalry, which were about half their entire army, were cut down with hails of arrows from archers on the Byzantine wings, even King Totila himself was slain, & for this reason the Battle of Taginae in some terms, is compared with the battle of Agincourt in the early XV century.

Invasio Barbarorum: The Historical Battle of Taginae 552 AD, Gen Narses vs King Totila
During the reconquest of Italy & Africa by the eastern Romans (Byzantines) Emperor Justinian I sent his best generals Flavius Belisarius & Narses each with an army to deal with the barbarians & regain lost territory. General Narses & his 23000 men including foederati where marching into Italy on the Via Flaminnia when suddenly they encountered an Ostrogothic army led by their King Totila but King Totila had only some 13000 men & had to wait for his son Teia with 5000 more reinforcements so he started to use some delaying tactics till his son arrives & immediatly started to negotiate. Another delaying tactic was sending a Byzantine deserter named Coccas that fought for him fiercly to challenge any Byzantine to single combat in no man's land. One of Narses' Bodyguards an Armenian named Anzalas answered the challenge, as Coccas was huge & fearless he charged at Anzalas but before impact Anzalas swerved his horse & stabbed Coccas on his side. Then his son arrived & his army increased to 18000 which most of it were formiddable Gothic heavy cavalry. Narses wasn't a fool he ordered his men to form a crescent formation similar to Hannibal's. He deployed the foederati & allies in the center, his Byzantine infantry on the sides & his archers on both wings supported by cavalry. Knowing that the Byzantine archers are dangerous King Totila wanted to avoid casualties by them as much as possible by ordering a sudden all-out charge while the Byzantines were refreshing themselvs but still ...
