Swaziland, 1973
Arriving at Matsapha airport: some scenes from Swaziland as it was in 1973; the background singing is the "Bena Mpondo" choir singing "Sanibonani, nonkhe" (Hello, everybody) in "uMbholoho" style, that I recorded in a small hut in Mangwaneni, near Mbabane. The next scenes are taken in Mbabane, Swaziland's capital; the music in the background is made by a woman, cradling her baby, and playing the "sikhelekehle", a one-stringed musical bow with a gourd as a sound amplifier. It was recorded at her house in Mbabane. This is the beginning and the end of a longer film of celebrations in 1973; these are shown in separate movies. These scenes were recorded with an old 8 mm camera (without sound) in August and September 1973; sound was added later from tape recordings I had made in previous years. For photos of the country from 1970 to 1975, go to the worldpics.com.au website and choose "Swaziland".

flying to Johannesburg, Manzini and Paris
In the summer of 2011 I went to Swaziland. My trip started in Amsterdam. From Amsterdam I flew with KLM in a Boeing 777-200 to Johannesburg(OR Tambo International Airport (FAJS)). Then I flew to Manzini (Matsapha Airport (FDMS)) with Swaziland Airlink in a Embraer ERJ 135. After my trip in Swaziland I flew back to Johannesburg again with Swaziland Airlink and in a Embraer 135. After spending 4 hours in Johannesburg I flew to Paris (Charles de Gaulle (LFPG)) with Air France in a Airbus A380-800. After seeing the eiffel tower I flew to Amsterdam (Schiphol (EHAM)) with Air France in a Airbus A321-200. This video contains only the flight Johannesburg-Manzin, Manzini-Johannesburg and Johannesburg-Paris. Sorry for the camera movements at the landing at Paris.

Aki and Porpo get overwhelming royal reception in Swaziland.
COURTESY OF AMN: www.africanmoviesnews.com http www.twitter.com www.youtube.com The main international airport in Swaziland 'Matsapha International Airport' was abuzz with excitement yesterday when celebrity actors Aki and Porpo made a grand entrance to the tiny Southern Africa nation. The stars whose real names are Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme landed at the airport at 11am. A crowd of people crammed the VIP lounge exit point to get a glimpse of their favorite Nollywood actors as they left for the hotel they are booked in. Even police officers and the airport staff could not contain their excitement as they fished out their cell phones to take pictures of them and took turns posing with the stars. Their first stop, after checking in, was the 'Times of Swaziland,' the country's largest print media company, where they were welcomed with much excitement. Acknowledging the huge reception, the pair chipped in with this; "Our fans must come watch us tonight and tomorrow. We promise great performances on both days. They will get a chance to interact with us and have lots of fun." the two comedians concurred. The two will be performing at the nations Convention Center and at the Mavuso Trade Center. Isn't it time now to begin merging the different movie industries across the African Continent as one to increase the market size, considering the huge border-less appeal?
