Wagogo mbria song
The Gogo (or mgogo singular and Wagogo plural ) are a Bantu ethnic and linguistic group based in the Dodoma Region of central Tanzania. In 1992 the Gogo population was estimated to number 1300000.The Gogo have historically been predominantly pastoralist and patrilineal (tracing descent and inheritance through the male line), but many contemporary Gogo now practice settled agriculture, have migrated to urban areas, or work on plantations throughout Tanzania. Gogo music has achieved an international reputation. In this carefree song, traditional players of a marimba like instrument called a "mbira" chant the names of their girlfriends. The resonating buzz heard in the song is accomplished when a particular type of spider's web in placed over the sound box. This song can be found on the album "East Africa : Ceremonial & Folk Music" in the Nonesuch Explorer Series.

Wagogo soothing song
The Gogo (or mgogo singular and Wagogo plural ) are a Bantu ethnic and linguistic group based in the Dodoma Region of central Tanzania. In 1992 the Gogo population was estimated to number 1300000.The Gogo have historically been predominantly pastoralist and patrilineal (tracing descent and inheritance through the male line), but many contemporary Gogo now practice settled agriculture, have migrated to urban areas, or work on plantations throughout Tanzania. Gogo music has achieved an international reputation. In this soothing song, the musicians of the village lull troubled children to sleep by imitating the sounds made by nocturnal, Tanzanian animals. Music is seen as a healing and soothing thing by the Gogo people. This song was derived from the "East Africa: Ceremonial and Folk Music" album, only one of the many in Nonesuch Records' Explorer Series.
