Even today, they make an amazing impact on Indian audiences. Prabhat made about 50 films in various languages, most in Hindi and Marathi, before it closed down in 1953. Ramshastri, produced by Prabhat Film Company in 1944, is a historical film, recognized in India as a classic. It is set in the 18th century whan the descendents of the Maratha King Shivaji were the rulesr of that state. However, administration and power was allocated to their Prime Ministers known as Peshwas. Ramshastri was appointed as the Court Judge by Madhavrao Peshwa. Internecine rivalry led to intrigue, assination and a power struggle during Ramshastri's tenure. His pronouncements are revered till today as containing the essence of pure justice. FILM REVIEW:- The biological film traces the career of an intrepid judge during the Peshwa regime of the Maratha Empire. The incorruptible Judge Ramshastri boldly sentences the ruling Peshwa with punishment by death for murdering his nephew. Here he must contend with court intrigue while using his wisdom to dispense justice. After the prince dies there is a bloody contest for the throne which ends with an assassination. Ram must face his most difficult challenge, overcoming public silence, to bring to justice a member of the court. On his return, his mother dies, worn out by her hard life. Ram and his wife move to the city where he becomes chief justice for the ruling prince. Here he must contend with court intrigue while using his wisdom to dispense justice. After the prince dies there is a bloody contest for the throne which ends with an assassination. Ram must face his most difficult challenge, overcoming public silence, to bring to justice a member of the court. Prabhat Film Cmpany was one of the pioneers of the film industry in India. It was started in 1929 by men who were technical experts in the medium. Prabhat began by making silent films and in 1932 started producing talkies. Today, the oldest film available in India is a Prabhat production "Ayodhyecha Raja (1932)". In 1933 the PrabhRamshastri44-Kaise Kheloon Main Khel Nahin Bhayeat Company produced India's first colour (tinted) film.Prabhat films were made to educate and entertain. Authenticity of sets and costumes were their hallmark. Ranging in theme from mythological to the social, they always aimed at contemporary relevances. Even today, they make an amazing impact on Indian audiences. Prabhat made about 50 films in various languages, most in Hindi and Marathi, before it closed down in 1953. Ramshastri, produced by Prabhat Film Company in 1944, is a historical film, recognized in India as a classic. It is set in the 18th century whan the descendents of the Maratha King Shivaji were the rulesr of that state. However, administration and power was allocated to their Prime Ministers known as Peshwas. Ramshastri was appointed as the Court Judge by Madhavrao Peshwa. Internecine rivalry led to intrigue, assination and a power struggle during Ramshastri's tenure. His pronouncements are revered till today as containing the essence of pure justice.
