1 MILLION People PROTEST in BRAZIL Demanding and END to GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION
SUBSCRIBE for latest on WORLDWIDE CIVIL UNREST and PROTESTS in BRAZIL - http://www.youtube.com/829SPEEDY 1 MILLION People PROTEST in BRAZIL Demanding and END to GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION Scattered street demonstrations popped up around Brazil for a third day as protesters continued their collective cry against the low-quality public services they receive in exchange for high taxes and high prices. Brazil's government deployed special federal police on Wednesday to the five of the six cities where the Confederations Cup football tournament is being played to protect the competition's venues. The government reaction is notable given that the Confederations Cup is seen as a dry run for the World Cup next year. vast crowd -- estimated by the authorities at 300,000 and more than a million by participants -- filled Rio's streets, one of a wave of huge nationwide marches against corruption, police brutality, poor public services and excess spending on the World Cup More than a million people are reported to have taken part in protests in about 100 cities across Brazil, the latest in a wave of demonstrations. Violence erupted in many places and an 18-year-old man died when a car drove through a barricade in Sao Paulo state. Protests began more than a week ago over high transport fares but are also highlighting corruption and the cost of next year's football World Cup. President Dilma Rousseff called off a trip to Japan to deal with the crisis. She has called an emergency meeting of her cabinet for Friday to discuss the unrest. The newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, citing official figures, said that more than one million people had taken part in Thursday's demonstrations. Brazilian media said there were protests in more than 100 cities. In Rio de Janeiro riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at groups of masked young men trying to approach the City Hall late on Thursday. At least 29 people were reported injured. Rio authorities sealed off the state legislature building, the state governor's office, Guanabara Palace and the mayor's office. TV images showed gangs looting shops in the city centre - although many Rio shopkeepers and banks had put up wooden hoardings to protect their premises. In the capital, Brasilia, demonstrators started a small fire at the entrance to the foreign ministry and were driven back by police using rubber bullets and tear gas. Other government buildings in the city were attacked and riot police used tear gas and rubber bullets to scatter the crowds. About 26 people were reported injured. brazil protest protesting "south america" government anonymous million "one million" people citizen brazilian police corruption demands violence peace war "civil war" civil rights liberty brutality capital "pepper spray" "rio de janeiro" anger unseen forces news media "breaking news" newspaper future agenda "new world order" trends trending poverty rich elite anonymous gas force 829speedy There were also clashes outside a football stadium in Salvador ahead of a Confederations Cup match between Nigeria and Uruguay. More clashes were reported in Porto Alegre in the south, Campinas north of Sao Paulo and in the north-eastern city of Salvador. The 18-year-old man killed in the city of Ribeirao Preto was the first person reported to have died in the protests. The motorist who drove through the barricade is said to have fled the scene. In Sao Paulo, police said 100,000 people had gathered on the city's landmark Avenida Paulista. Members of the city's Free Access Movement (Movimento Passe Livre) - which has been campaigning for better public transport - earlier pledged to take to the streets "to celebrate" the reversal of a public-transport fare increase. The protests, originally triggered by the increase on 2 June, have since grown into a much wider movement. Protesters are angry at corruption and poor public services as well as the huge cost of next year's football World Cup, saying the government should also invest in education and healthcare. "It's not really about the price [of transport] any more," she said while taking part in a protest in the city of Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday. "People are so disgusted with the system, so fed up that now we're demanding change." The current unrest is the biggest since 1992, when people took to the streets to demand the impeachment of then-President Fernando Collor de Mello.- published: 22 Jun 2013

Don Askarian
is a prize-winner at several international film festivals. In 1996 Don Askarian published his book "The Dangerous Light". Every year the interest to his really very unique films grow up. More and more film festivals come to honor Don Askarian with retrospectives. Serious TV-stations like ARD, WDR, ZDF, Channel 4, Arte, but also Belgian, Greek, Swiss, Slovakian, Armenian etc. TV Channels are constant co-producers and buyers of all his films. The films of Don Askarian were sold and broadcasted world wide about 100 times. Don Askarian, honored with a Harvard Film Archive retrospective, is considered the greatest Armenian filmmaker (but he is Russian-German- Dutch too). In 2004 he received Golden Camera Award for Life Achievement at Int. ART Film Festival, Slovakia. It turns out to be clearer what Hans-Werner Dannowski, the president of Interfilm, meant in 1992: "Time will pass until we recognize that Don Askarian is one of the most important filmmakers of our times. His movies will take up the time they need. Finally the films will have their success not with lies and assimilations but with truth." The retrospectives and special screenings around the world, on TV and important film festivals reflect it, mirror the growing interest in Don Askarian's films followed by a broad fascination by the audience.

Marty Kaplan on the Weapons of Mass Distraction
Across the world -- Greece, Spain, Brazil, Egypt -- citizens are turning angrily to their governments to demand economic fair play and equality. But here in America, with few exceptions, the streets and airwaves remain relatively silent. In a country as rich and powerful as America, why is there so little outcry about the ever-increasing, deliberate divide between the very wealthy and everyone else?
Media scholar Marty Kaplan points to a number of forces keeping these issues and affected citizens in the dark -- especially our well-fed appetite for media distraction. An award-winning columnist and head of the Norman Lear Center at the University of Southern California, Kaplan also talks about the appropriate role of journalists as advocates for truth.

This Au Ments performance, inspired by the memory of the body, is constructed from human landscapes and the images that we have created internally.
In “Tales of the body” we play with various scenic languages which break the usual schemes of space and movement and allow us to develop a new choreographic proposal.
“Tales of the body” is an intense succession of micro stories full of emotion and visual beauty, where the performer transforms herself constantly by means of movements, gestures and objects.
“The body as a mechanical object, a neutral space ready to appear and disappear, to be transformed, to be born and to die.”

This huge rise is blamed on relaxation of environment laws. The Amazon rainforest is considered one of the world's most important natural defences against global warming because of its capacity to absorb huge amounts of carbon dioxide.
