Shen Yun - Chinese Spectacular
www.shenyunperformingarts.org "I deal with a great number of visiting performance companies, and I can say that the show by Divine Performing Arts was the best Ive seen in all my 60 years. Prof. Chi-mao Li, National Taiwan College of Arts The dances were graceful, delicate, and beautiful! There was something pure and bright and also very dignified about them. This show gave me a real sense of goodness and meaning in life. Anna Liceica, Soloist, American Ballet Theatre Its very artistic, and you just feel nice watching it. Its hard to explain exactly what it is about it thats so beautiful. Marc Reese, trumpeter, Empire Brass Absolutely magical The gorgeous costumes, the gracefulness, the beautiful choreography, the beautiful music Its beauty from beginning to end. Everybody that I know who has seen it, everybody comes away with exactly the same opinion: Everybody says you have to see it to believe it. You cannot describe it in words; it must be experienced. Christine Walevska, cello virtuoso ...a highly professional, well thought out and beautifully produced presentation! This is not only entertainment, but a valuable cross-over cultural event: a strong, gracious gesture toward international understanding, in an all-too-troubled world. Donn B. Murphy, Ph.D., President, The National Theatre It amazed me The choreography is phenomenal, I think its the best show that I ever saw. The best. Even the backgrounds, the dancing, the choreography and the music, the singing ...

RED CAUTION1
RED CAUTION1
This documentary recorded many scenes of conflicts of Taiwanese people protesting against the envoy of China, Chen Yun-Lin. While President Ma declared that If we can not properly protect Chen Yun-Lin, we can hardly be called a government, thousands of Taiwanese, many of them holding the national flags, came out on the streets of Taipei to protest. This film shows that they were brutally beaten, fiercely expelled, and seriously humiliated by the police.

Student Protest Continues in Taiwan
Student Protest Continues in Taiwan
And in Taiwan a student movement known as the wild strawberries are calling on Taiwanese president Ma Ying-jeou to apoligize for alledged police brutality. The country's police force clamped down on demonstrators during last month's visit by Chinese Communist Party official Chen Yun-lin. NTD's Ben Hedges brings us there. Weve been here for exactly one month The Wild Strawberries have been camped out on liberty square since the 6th of November. [Yi-ping Shih, Wild Strawberry] Well at the beginning it is because our government used excessive police force, when a Chinese messenger came here and we feel like our human rights and our freedom of speech is violated The protest is now in its 724th hour. Eric Zhang who protested another communist official visiting southern Taiwan came to offer his support. [Eric Zhang. Protestor] Well I think its really great, I mean Taiwan hasnt seen a student movement in a really long time, and this student movement is a really great purpose right, its for standing up for human rights and especially because of the police brutality that was experienced when Chen Yunlin came right. The fact that students of this generation came out and could fight for the future of Taiwan I think is great. The students held a parade over the weekend. [Yi-ping Shih, Wild Strawberry] We just want to show people that we are still here, and also we want to lead all the citizens, trying to tell them that human right is our own right so its not a thing that we can ...

Chen Pan-ling Taichichuan Short form
Chen Pan-ling Taichichuan Short form
This is my version of the Chen Pan-ling taichichuan short form. This 42 movement form was designed by Chen's son, Chen Yun-ching 陳雲慶, and the director of the 99 Taichichuan Association, Huang Yu-cheng 黃裕盛. The form is comprised of moves 1-37 and 94-99 from the traditional 99 movement Chen Pan-ling form. The idea was to create a short form for competition and health that preserved the traditional characteristics of Chen Pan-ling's taichi. The form was in no way meant to "wushu-ified" or spruced up with prettier movements for competition or demonstration purposes. This was my first ever taichi tourney performance and although not my best performance, it shows what I was capable of that day. The flow and postures are as correct as I could make them then but I highly recommend that you sink more into your stances than I was capable of doing that day. Unfortunately, a medical condition flared up and hindered my flexibility. So please don't take the version shown as a benchmark. Enjoy the performance.

Chen Huixian's Chenjiagou Taijiquan Academy in Overland Park, Kansas
This was originally filmed as a promo for Chen Huixian's Workshops at the 2010 Legends of Kung Fu and Taiji Legacy in Dallas, Texas. Workshop # 1: Chen Taiji Ba Fa: Silk Reeling & Fajin Training Drills for Developing Internal Power This class will cover the 8 basic movements/energies of Chen Taijiquan, the Taiji Ba Fa (peng, lu, ji, an, cai, lie, zhou, and kao). These are the foundations of Chen Taiji and bridge the gap from Taiji form to combat and self-defense applications. These movements/energies can be found throughout all styles of Taiji, and are essential points of study for any serious Taiji practitioner. Chen Huixian will also be teaching Si Zheng Shou and Si Yu Shou, the Chen Taiji methods of training these 8 Taiji Ba Fa Energies. These are individual repetitive Silk Reeling and Fajin drills that help to develop Whole Body Movement (Zhou Shen Yun Dong) and also strengthen your Internal Power (Nei Jin). This development of unified body movement, kinetic linkage and strong Internal Energy build the foundations for the relaxed and explosive power that is the trademark of Chen Taijiquan. Workshop # 2: Chen Taijiquan Push-Hands: Ding Bu & an Introduction to Qinna Applications Chen Huixian will cover the Chen Taiji Push-Hands method of Ding Bu and introduce some of the Qinna found within its movements. Often considered the one of the most recognizable methods of the Chen Family Push-Hands training, Ding Bu is also one of more complex methods to learn. In this stage of ...

Martial Arts Master Visits Frederick
Martial Arts Master Visits Frederick
Full Story Here: www.fredericknewspost.com Mark Small began practicing martial arts more than 30 years ago. The Asheville, NC, native's first teachers were from Taiwan. So when he heard that Chen Yun Ching, a 70-year-old martial arts grandmaster from Taiwan, was giving a five-day series of classes for the first time in Frederick, he rushed to Maryland. "His credentials are extensive," Small said. "That's what master Chen is great at; he's standardized his father's ... practice and made it available to all audiences, no matter your age or health condition." Small was among more than a dozen students who had a chance to learn from Chen last month at John Scott's martial arts studio in Frederick. Video by Michael Theis

NTD's Chinese Vocal competition - An In Depth Report
And over the weekend NTD's third annual International Chinese Vocal Competition was held in New York. Ben Hedges takes us there for a look at the weekend's events. Day One You wouldnt expect to find a congregation of some of the worlds best Chinese vocalists in the heart of New York City, but that is exactly what were going to show you. Were here at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at New Yorks John Jay College, for NTDs third International Chinese Vocal Competition, lets go in and take a look Day one and contestants have come from all over the world to demonstrate their abilities on stage. Up for grabs, prizes of up to ten thousand dollars. Contestants must be of Chinese descent and songs can be Chinese or Western. Theres one other rule, the performances must not glorify or contain the influence of the Chinese Communist Party. [Julie Lemmons, Contestant]: When I was in Mainland China I saw many competitions, yet most of them are glorifying the culture of the Communist Party. These formations of performers, like they are fighting in a battle. So this time when I hear these traditional Chinese songs and these world famous songs from Italy I feel really delighted. Forty-five contestants compete throughout the day for a place in the semi finals. Having completed a full day of singing, contestants are now eagerly awaiting the results of who will go through to tomorrows semi final. Twenty-two contestants made it through. One of them was Coco Chen. She had high hopes for day two ...
