But therein lies the problem. While these soldiers should clearly have known better - and will soon, no doubt - their disgusting behavior is clearly a result of a national mindset that has allowed fighters to be sent to occupy faraway, foreign lands by an arrogant and misguided government. Should we be surprised when we allow our leaders to commit heinous acts of abuse of power that their pawns, their soldiers, occasionally exhibit extreme lapses of judgement and morally degenerative behavior?
