[PS3] Enslaved Demo | Sleeper Hit? (Part 1/2)
Hardly promoted by Namco Bandai, this game could be a hidden gem in the future. Check out the demo from the PSN store. It's very Uncharted-esque and I'm loving it, sadly It'll probably end up in the bargain bin at £20 after a couple of weeks of release.

Will 'X-Men: First Class' Be The Sleeper Hit of the Summer?
Watch X-Men: First Class Trailer - youtu.be bit.ly - Click to Subscribe! Facebook.com - Become a Fan! Twitter.com - Follow Us! X-Men: First Class could be the sleeper hit of the summer. Why the critics are saying it'll be a stand out at the box office next. Hey moviegoers, Amanda Janner here for Clevver Movies in Hollywood. Theaters are flooded with comic book titles this summer, including Thor, Green Lantern and Captain America. But critics are buzzing about X-Men: First Class, saying it could be the X factor at the summer box office. Many overlooked the film since it's without stars Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Ian McKellen. What it does have is a fresh new cast, featuring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence and Kevin Bacon. The film just opened, and by late Thursday, the reviews were in. And so far, so good, with critics echoing praise of Fox reviving a tired franchise. Wall Street Journal film critic Joe Morgenstern says the prequel, "draws new energy from supersmart casting" and is a "zestfully radical departure from the latter spawn of a sputtering franchise." The New York Times said the "X-Men film series has bounced back to life with its fifth installment, rescued with a straight injection of pop." Also a factor to consider is that First Class is not in 3D, making ticket prices more affordable -- if you call what you're local cinema charges these days to see a feature film affordable. Proving that 2D beats 3D at the box ...

Littlerock (2010) Official Movie Trailer - HD
The sleeper hit of the 2010 film-festival and indie-awards circuit, Mike Ott's moody micro-budget Littlerock patiently observes the California road trip of college-aged Japanese siblings Atsuko (Atsuko Okatsuka, also the film's co-writer) and Rintaro (Rintaro Sawamoto). En route to Manzanar (the filmmakers leave viewers to draw on their own knowledge, if any, of what that destination portends until the film's very end), their car breaks down in the tiny desert town of Littlerock, where they soon fall in with a local crowd of young layabouts. They're swiftly taken under the wing of Cory (Cory Zacharia), a tall-tale spinner too effeminate for small-town America, and maybe too naive for anyplace else (a subplot involving his debt to a local thug is a weak link). Rintaro is impatient for the traditional tourist's experience, while his sister is happy to waste away a few days on the perhaps-more-genuine American experience of loitering with floppy-haired rocker boys, chain-smoking, and chugging cheap beer. Atsuko the character doesn't speak English; Atsuko the actress, speaking mostly un-subtitled Japanese when she speaks at all, gives a performance that's a marvel of nonverbal reaction. Her "new American friends" treat her as a projection screen, leading to quickly formed bonds based on unspoken recognition—which prove to be about as reliable as Atsuko's letters home to her dad, through which she clues us in on what she's thinking by telling him the precise opposite.

The Hangover 2 (2011) | New Movie Trailer #2 - HD
The Hangover is the sleeper hit of the summer, taking $105 million in just 10 days and outpacing recent comedy smashes Knocked Up and Wedding Crashers. A sequel has now been confirmed, so what can you expect from The Hangover 2? The film's director Todd Philips (Old School) said this week "We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set. Two weeks ago I was saying, 'let's see how it works out.' Now that the movie has really connected, it's something we're doing for sure." He explained that shooting on 'The Hangover 2′, or whatever it's called, could begin as soon as next spring, and that all the main characters will return, "I wouldn't do it unless all four guys were back," he said. "I love The Hangover so much and I think we could crush it with the sequel. I've never had more fun making a movie, ever. Not that Old School wasn't fun, but these guys were so hungry and ready to kick ass everyday. We just all gelled so well on this film." The cast themselves have ideas for the plot, all of which seem to, mysteriously, serve the character they are playing - Justin Bartha (Doug the groom) says "I hope The Hangover 2 is just Doug, and he loses the three friends and has to go find them. I have a feeling that's not what's going to happen, and it might just be the same thing. Either way, I'm very excited about it." While Ed Helms (Stu) ponders "I think we ...

Colin Quinn - Long Story Short
Support Colin and purchase this amazing sleeper hit !! iTunes - itunes.apple.com Amazon - www.amazon.com Long Story Short showcases Colin's keen observations in an uproarious history of the world, juxtaposing modern-day human behavior with the rise and fall of empires. From his personification of Caesar as the original Italian mobster to his complaints about ancient Greece and Antigone giving way to Costco and Snooki, Quinn is at his satirical best, taking on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that have toppled the world's most powerful nations.

53rd Journalism Awards Gala (part 1)
A. JOURNALISTS OF THE YEAR
A1. PRINT (Over 50,000 circulations)
Patrick Range McDonald, LA Weekly
Comments: "Range" is an appropriate middle name. What incredibly
detailed reporting on a variety of complicated topics. What an ability to
make us feel as if we know the players. What skill in explaining messy
situations. The very essence of solid journalism.
2nd place: David Evans, Bloomberg Markets, "Duping the Families of
Fallen Soldiers"
HM: Mariel Garza, Los Angeles Daily News Editorials
A2. PRINT (Under 50,000 circulation)
Radley Balko, Reason Magazine
Comment: ―Radley Balko is one of those throw-back journalists that
understands the power of groundbreaking reporting and how to make a
significant impact through his work. Time and time again, his stories cause
readers to stop, think, and most significantly, take action.
Congratulations!‖
2nd Place: Dan Evans, Glendale News-Press
HM: Ryan Vaillancourt, Los Angeles Downtown News
A3. TELEVISION JOURNALIST
Ana Garcia and Fred Mamoun, KNBC-TV
Garcia and Mamoun shoot, write and edit compelling stories. One of
their strengths as a team is the obvious respect for their subjects, and the
ability through contacts in the community to land exclusive interviews and
opportunities. They are strong storytellers and the pieces move!
2nd Place: Antonio Valverde, Univision
Valverde has a wide range as a journalist. He is able to work with various
segments of the community to tell compelling stories. He has political
acumen and can accurately and fairly tell stories, while also reaching out
to the disenfranchised to share their stories of life in L.A.
A4. RADIO JOURNALIST
Susan Valot, KPCC
Comments: Well-rounded reports with authoritative, informed tone. Great
use of sound. Valot‘s work is some of the best we‘ve heard.
2nd Place: Brian Watt: KPCC
HM: Kitty Felde: KPCC
A5. ONLINE JOURNALIST
Daniel Heimpel, FosteringMediaConnections.org
2nd Place: Chris Hedges, Truthdig.com
HM: Robert Scheer, Truthdig.com
A6. SPORTS JOURNALIST
N/A
A7. ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST
Kim Masters, KCRW-FM Radio
Comments: Nice voice in both senses of the word, along with substantive
content. Covering a story about outed CIA agent Valerie Plame, she
tracked down Plame to comment on her portrayal, rather than just talking
to the actress. She also gave a lot of information on entertainment agents
that broadened the picture the public was likely to have of that
occupation.
2nd Place: Tara Wallis-Finestone, NBC LA
HM: George Pennacchio, KABC-TV
A8. PHOTO JOURNALIST
Rick Loomis, Los Angeles Times
A9. DESIGNER
N/A
B. DAILY/WEEKLY NEWSPAPERS
Over 50,000 circulations – including news bureaus and correspondents
B1. HARD NEWS
Tracy Manzer and Sarah Peters, Long Beach Press-Telegram, "Heroes foil
bank heist"
Comments: The writing was appropriately-paced for the category and
the story content. I enjoyed the writers' use of sensory details and factual
information, presented with a slightly humorous/sarcastic tone that made
this piece fun to read.
B2. NEWS FEATURE
Patrick Range McDonald, LA Weekly, ―The Parent Trigger‖.
Comments: Documents a groundswell of democracy while explaining a
new law through a real-world prism. Powerful. Incredibly well-sourced and
informative, yet provides a human touch. The story of poor minorities trying
to make a change documented how the masses can move the
establishment. Inspiring to others, this story shows what newspaper do like
no other. Bravo.
2nd Place: Thomas Curven, Los Angeles Times, ―Walking Away from Grief‖
HM: Kristopher Hanson, Long Beach Press-Telegram, ―Dangers Close to
Home‖
B3. PERSONALITY PROFILE
Steve Friess, LA Weekly, ―A Tragic Love Story‖
2nd Place: Charlotte Hsu, LA Weekly, ―Forever Scared — The Story of
Herman Atkins‖
HM: Karen Robes Meeks, Long Beach Press-Telegram, ―Murchison: A
Portrait of a Long Beach Lobbyist‖
B4. INVESTIGATIVE/SERIES
David Evans, Bloomberg News, "Fallen Soldiers' Families Denied Cash
Payout as Insurers Profit"
Comments: These articles are the soul of great investigative journalism,
uncovering a shocking system whereby the families of slain soldiers are
tricked about benefits, and where shameless insurance companies reap
big profits at the expense of those families.
Best of all, it led to immediate Congressional investigations and action.
2nd place: Beth Barrett, LA Weekly, "The Dance of the Lemons"
HM: Monica Alonzo and Simone Wilson, LA Weekly, "Culture of Cruelty"
B5. BUSINESS
Alana Semuels, Los Angeles Times, "California unfriendly to business?
Figures say no"
Comments: This is an authoritative and well-documented piece that
refutes the common wisdom of California's tax structure being unfriendly
to business.
2nd place: Beth Barrett, LA Weekly, "Barry Minkow 2.0"
HM: Donna Howell, Investor's Business Daily,
