Allan Arbus
Allan Arbus (born February 15, 1918) is an American actor notable for his role as psychiatrist Dr. Sidney Freedman on the television series M*A*S*H.
Arbus was born in New York City of Jewish background, the son of stockbroker Harry Arbus and his wife Rose (née Goldberg). He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he first developed an interest in acting while appearing in a student play.
Arbus was also a music lover. Prior to becoming an actor, he was reportedly so taken by Benny Goodman's recordings that he took up playing the clarinet.
During the 1940s, Arbus became a photographer for the United States Army. After completing his military service, he and his first wife, photographer Diane Arbus (née Nemerov, whom he had married in 1941) started a photographic advertising business in Manhattan in 1946. Arbus was primarily known for advertising photography that appeared in Glamour, Seventeen, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and other magazines, as well as the weekly newspaper advertising photography for Russek's, a Fifth Avenue department store owned by Diane's father.Edward Steichen's noted photo exhibition The Family of Man includes a photograph credited to the couple. The Arbus' professional partnership ended in 1956, when Diane quit the business; the couple formally separated three years later. Allan Arbus continued on for a number of years as a solo photographer, but was out of the business by the time the couple divorced in 1969.

Carter Burwell
Carter Benedict Burwell (born November 18, 1955) is an American composer of film scores.
Burwell was born in New York City, the son of Natalie (née Benedict), a math teacher, and Charles Burwell, who founded Thaibok Fabrics, Ltd. He graduated from King School in Stamford, Connecticut, and Harvard College, where he was a cartoonist for The Harvard Lampoon.
As a film composer, Burwell has had a long-working relationship with the Coen brothers, providing music for every film they have made (except for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, where he provided additional music to a score of traditional songs produced by T-Bone Burnett). He enjoys working with left-field directors, such as Spike Jonze. Among his best known film scores are Miller's Crossing (1990), And the Band Played On (1993), Conspiracy Theory (1997), Hamlet (2000), The Spanish Prisoner (1997), Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007), In Bruges (2008), Twilight (2008) Where The Wild Things Are (2009), The Blind Side (2009), and Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011).

Emmy Clarke
Mary Elizabeth Clarke (born September 25, 1991 in Mineola, New York), better known as Emmy Clarke, is an American actress.
At the age of one Clarke moved with her parents to Houston, Texas. At age 6 she moved to Woking, England, where she attended TASIS England before moving to New York City at age 11. The nickname "Emmy" is derived from her first two initials. She has two siblings, Patrick (older) and Bridget (younger). She now lives in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Her first acting role was in the 2003 TV film My House in Umbria, for which she won the Best Performance in a TV Movie, Miniseries, or Special - Supporting Young Actress Young Artist Award in 2004.
Beginning with the Season 3 episode "Mr. Monk and the Red Herring," Clarke had a recurring role on the television series Monk as Julie Teeger, the daughter of Adrian Monk's assistant Natalie. She also had a role in Fur, a film released on 10 November 2006.

Erin Cressida Wilson
Erin Cressida Wilson (born February 12, 1964) is an American playwright, screenwriter, professor, and author.
Wilson is known for the 2002 film Secretary, which she adapted from a Mary Gaitskill short story. It won her the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay.
She also wrote the screenplay for the 2006 film Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, and has authored dozens of plays and short works.

In 2009, Yulin performed in The People Speak, a documentary feature film that uses dramatic and musical performances of the letters, diaries, and speeches of everyday Americans, based on historian Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States.

Jane Alexander (born October 28th, 1939) is an American actress, author, and former director of the National Endowment for the Arts. Although perhaps best known for playing the female lead in The Great White Hope on both stage and screen, Alexander has played a wide array of roles in both theater and film and has committed herself to a variety of charitable causes.
Alexander was born Jane Quigley in Boston, Massachusetts ,daughter of Ruth Elizabeth (née Pearson), a nurse, and Thomas B. Quigley, an orthopedic surgeon. She graduated from Beaver Country Day School, an all-girls' school in Chestnut Hill outside of Boston, where she discovered her love of acting.
Encouraged by her father to go to college before embarking on an acting career, Alexander attended Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, where she concentrated on theater but also studied mathematics with an eye toward computer programming, in the event that she failed as an actress. Also while at Sarah Lawrence, she shared an apartment with Hope Cooke who would become Queen Consort of Sikkim. Alexander spent her junior year studying at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where she participated in the Edinburgh University Dramatic Society. The experience, together with apparently good reviews of her performances, solidified her determination to continue acting.

In 2006, Kidman was made a Companion of the Order of Australia, Australia's highest civilian honor, and was also the highest-paid actress in the motion picture industry. As a result of being born to Australian parents in Hawaii, Kidman has dual citizenship in Australia and the United States.

Patricia Bosworth
Patricia Bosworth (born April 24, 1933) is an American journalist and biographer. A former faculty member of the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, she has also been an editor, actress and model.
Born as Patricia Crum in Oakland, California, she is the daughter of writer Anna Gertrude Bosworth and attorney Bartley Crum, one of the six lawyers who defended the Hollywood Ten during the Red Scare at the start of the Cold War in 1947. Her younger brother, Bartley Crum Jr., and her father both committed suicide.
Bosworth attended Miss Burke's School and the Convent of the Sacred Heart. Aged 13, intending to become an actress, she adopted her mother's maiden name as her professional surname. In 1948, the family moved to New York City, where Bosworth attended the Chapin School. She also attended the École International in Geneva, Switzerland. Bosworth eloped in 1952 with an art student, ending the marriage after a year. After receiving her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in 1955, she became a member of the Actors Studio in Manhattan, and found work as a model and actress. Her first modeling job came from the John Robert Powers agency. She was hired by Diane Arbus and her husband Allan Arbus to pose along with a male model for a magazine ad for the Greyhound bus company. Allan drove everyone, including his and Diane's assistant Tad Yamashiro, who many years later became a photographer whose work was exhibited in galleries, to the Ardsley Acres section of Ardsley, New York for the photo shoot.

Steven Shainberg (born 5 February 1963) is an American film director and producer.
He is the nephew of author Lawrence Shainberg. Both are part of the Shainberg family of Memphis, Tennessee, founder of the Shainberg's chain of stores, which is now part of Dollar General.
Shainberg received his BA from Yale University in English Literature and East Asian studies. The Prom won the Grand Prize at the Houston International Film Festival, the Critics’ Award at the Breckenridge Film Festival, and the Silver Medal for Drama at the New York Film Festival.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theatre arts in 1993. Burrell was the commencement speaker at the school in 2008. While in college he worked as a bartender at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Burrell continued his education at the Penn State University, where he earned an MFA. In 1999, Burrell worked as a festival actor at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Burrell has also stated that for a period of time in graduate school, he lived out of his van to save money.

The cinematic Arbus (Nicole Kidman) is torn between a bizarre relationship with a neighbor suffering from hypertrichosis, Lionel Sweeney (Robert Downey Jr.), and a conventional life with her husband Allan (Ty Burrell), a photographer. An incident with a clogged drain leads her to a relationship with Lionel and entry into a netherworld populated by transvestites, dwarves and others living on the fringes of society.

For the film, director Steven Shainberg, best known for his kinky indie Secretary, reunited with its screenwriter, Erin Cressida Wilson, who used Patricia Bosworth's book Diane Arbus: A Biography as a source. As its name implies, the film is a fictional account rather than an accurate biography.

The film holds a 50 score on Metacritic.[1]
The Chicago Tribune gave the film 3 out of 4 stars; "The result is a revelatory, challenging and deeply affecting portrait, anchored by what may be Kidman's most profoundly moving performance."[2]
The Los Angeles Times criticized the "cop-out ending that undercuts its message about the unimportance of surface differences in favor of a glib finalities to have its cake and eat it too." Although the newspaper continued to heap praise on Kidman and Downey Jr; "the remarkable acting of its two stars pulls you back in and keeps you watching. Kidman, the most consistently daring of today's top stars, is exceptionally convincing as someone whose interior process plays out in front of us. And Downey, for the most part using only his soulful, yearning eyes and a silky, urbane voice, creates a man no one could resist. Separately and together, they make us believe the unbelievable."[3]
