COMEDY duo Hamish and Andy will quit the most successful networked radio show in Australia, their Austereo drive program, at year's end. Hamish Blake and Andy Lee announced on their program they will still air a "fun-sized" two-hour weekly show and free podcast in 2011 on the Austereo network. "We're looking to challenge ourselves," Blake told listeners. "We could never entirely walk away from this show. We'll never give up this show, it's the best fun in the world." Lee said the move would allow the duo to pursue other opportunities they had turned down during the last 5-7 years in order to concentrate on their radio show, which is networked across the Austereo network on stations including Fox, 2Day, SAFM and B105. Hamish and Andy have dominated the drive slot across the country from their Melbourne Fox FM base, regularly attracting shares of more than 20 per cent and out-performing Austereo's previous drive titans Tony Martin and Mick Molloy. Blake added "this has always been our number one love so we've never wanted to compromise." The duo are expected to return to television. The Seven Network aired their eponymous first series in 2004 and their current affairs parody Real Stories in 2006, arguably at a time when they were still forming their comedy. Subsequently, the Ten Network has benefited from Blake and Lee's occasional comedy specials, including their Caravan of Courage shows, which regularly attract audiences of more than 1 million.
