'Mali intervention may lead to nightmare'
An African affairs expert tells Press TV that large forces on the ground in Mali will create financial and logistic problems. France has called on the UN to implement a resolution, which allows for the deployment of an international force to Mali amid clashes in the West African nation. Chaos broke out in the West African country after Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure was toppled in a military coup on March 22, 2012. The coup leaders said they mounted the coup in response to the government's inability to contain the Tuareg rebellion in the north of the country, which had been going on for two months. Press TV has conducted an interview with Ayo Johnson, an African affairs expert from London to shed more light on the issue of Mali solution. Sahel Calling- (Mali Musicians) Film Preview January 2013 (English version).mp4
www.youtube.com a documentary film about the role of musicians in the humanitarian crisis in Mali and the Sahel. Sahel Calling is a film about musicians defending human rights. If you do not have paypal and/or would prefer to do a bank transfer to an American, European or West African bank, please contact us at info@sahelcalling.com. Sahel Calling is a film project to raise awareness about the refugees, internally-displaced persons and the people living in the conflict-affected areas of Mali and the Sahel. The project is inspired by the musicians in the region who are risking their lives by singing and speaking about the violation of human rights and raising general awareness about the humanitarian situation. We need your support to bring our film crew to Mali and West Africa to make a documentary which will bring much needed attention to the humanitarian crisis and human rights violations occurring in Mali and the Sahel. Music has been banned, cultural artifacts destroyed, families are being separated, children are being recruited into armed combat, and a long list of human rights violations occur every day...and we want the world to know! The film MUST be made in February 2013, for this is when a group of musicians will create a "Caravan of Peace of Unity" across the region which Sahel Calling will help broadcast to the world. All of the film team members have intimate connections to Mali and the Sahel -- this project is personal for us. Donate, and spread the teaser ...

Sights and Sounds of Senegal, Dakar, West Africa
This is a clip of some my photos and videos while studying abroad in Dakar, Senegal in 2011. Dakar is the westernmost point of the African continent; making it a major hub for import/export, therefore greatly diversifying the city and culture. Videos have been recorded while riding various public transportation; taxi, bus, and car rapide`. Music by Youssou N'dour, all rights to him, I DO NOT claim ownership of the audio track.

Fyne Fyne Bobo (An old recording - Audio) - by Hometown Uhude
Fyne fyne bobo (highlife music - with a touch of soukouss at the end). This is an old test-recording or studio-rehearsal by Hometown Uhude and his band in the early or mid 2000s, in Lagos Nigeria. Hometown Uhude hails from Nigeria and was born in the mid-seventies in Lagos. He makes different kinds of music - folk, pop, classical, reggae, rap, afrobeat, highlife. His favourite form of music is West African Highlife music and Afrobeat, played live and analogue, with a real band. This form of musical expression is fast disappearing amongst the newer generation musicians in Nigeria. Let us support the retention and revival of Highlife music. The difficulties of financing and running a highlife band in Nigeria caused the band to temporarily suspend its activities.

French military arrived to help to Mali
A Malian official says that French military have arrived in the troubled West African country to help its military amid an advance by radical Islamists. Col. Abdrahmane Baby, a military operations adviser for the foreign affairs ministry, on Friday confirmed that French troops were in the country but gave no details about how many or what they were doing. The announcement confirms reports from residents in central Mali who said they have seen Western military personnel arrive and that planes had landed there throughout the night. Earlier in the day, French President Francois Hollande said that the former colonial power was ready to help to the stop the Islamist extremists. The Islamist rebels Thursday seized the strategic town of Konna which is the closest they have come to central Mali. IGBO YOUTHS AND YOUNG ADULTS HOME COMING-VIDEO #3 SAN FRANCISCO CA 12-22-2012
GUOSA LANGUAGE: THE UNITY, CULTURE AND IDENTITY OF WEST AFRICAN NATIONS (ECOWAS) The need for of a common indigenous lingua franca in the West African Regional Countries or the ECOWAS is well over due. Lack of this essential vehicle of unity and identitydid not only destabilize and destroy the socio-political and industrial strategies of the West African countries; it raised data or questions which borders on the basis for cohesion, comprehension, industrial and technological revolution and the unity in such diversity because language plays a unifying role in the beginning, development, beliefs, and customs of any group of people. Experts have pointed out that most people think and act better in the language of their motherlands and identifiable language to their roots; and that when they speak other languages of no identical connection to their cultures they engaged in transliteration and endless hurdles before the main issues to be discusses. Language is a means by which words or expressions find meaning and is put into use. Basically, it is used as a means of giving out information, thoughts, skills, ideas, reasoning and ensure receipt of it from varied sources without. Above all, language is knowledge, and knowledge is POWER for the people, from the people and by the people. The Guosa Language: There are about 400 different ethnic languages, dialects and fractional tongues in Nigeria and about twice this number in other West African countries. The Guosa Language alone ...
