Happenings make the world go round. We are all on a need to know basis and we do need to know. The best way to keep up with happenings around the word is by watching the latest news or by picking up the newspaper every morning. Whether you are a businessman or a tradesman, you can not afford to lose out on updated information, especially in the times we are living in.
Now let us ponder about how the latest news from around the world ends up on our television screens, radio stations or in our newspapers.
Journalists all over the world act almost like secret agents with their pens, cellphones and cameras. They capture the news as it happens, sometimes putting their own lives in danger. Numerous journalists in let’s say Afghanistan have worked with bullets flying over their heads.
This is a reality that some of them just have to live with. Other journalists capture news like how bee farmers are advancing their technologies by repelling the bees with a non-toxic substance to harvest the honey. Everything is covered by the journalists.
Then there is another group called the paparazzi. They work as freelancers mostly and they capture just about everything related to gossip news. Nothing in the lives of celebrities escapes the paparazzi.
Now in order for the news to end up on television, radio or in the newspaper, journalists have a deadline to keep to. They have to submit all their stories to their respective newspapers or news channels before the deadline expires in order for it to appear on time and in the next edition.
The paparazzi on the other hand, sell their photo’s and stories to any newspaper, magazine or news channel willing to buy. Sometimes the highest bidder is selected off a list of bidders. That is how the world stays informed.
Some news stories are important and some news is, as we’ve seen, gossip.
We all know the infamous words – We interrupt this program to bring you the latest news or an announcement by the president. That is highly important news which can save lives.
People at home can watch their televisions or listen to their radios or read their papers every morning while people working on the road, like truck drivers or soldiers in the field only have their radios to listen to. That is why all these mediums are important.
Just think about the time during world war two. The entire world, especially wives of soldiers and Jews, were clinging to their radios in order to keep up with the latest news and developments. In Europe, people were waiting to hear about Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler. Now fast forward to 9/11.
Less than on hour after the incident occurred, the world knew about it. Everyone sat glued to their television sets – in color – to get in on the latest news. For months after the incident, people who did nor usually buy the newspaper every day, bought newspapers like they were going out of fashion.
The world wanted and needed to know that they will be safe again, regardless where they lived. Years after that, everyone who could afford to buy newspapers, did it every morning in order to find out when the recession will be over and when everyone can go back to work.
The latest news will always keep you updated about the happenings in the world. We all need to know, our lives and livelihood depends on it. We are thankful for all the journalists who put their lives on the line daily to bring us the latest news.
