People displaced in the country. Flood of Malians trying to leave the country. As the offensive in the divided African country entered its fifth day, UN says there are 150000 Malian refugees and 230000 displaced inside country. France's military intervention in Mali will build up to 2500 French soldiers, defence ministry sources said Tuesday, as the offensive in the divided African country entered its fifth day. President François Hollande, on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates, said earlier on Tuesday that French troop presence had already been boosted to 750 soldiers and would continue to rise. Citing sources close to French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, the AFP news agency said that France's fighting force in the troubled African country would "progressively reach" the new figure. He certainly had prepared himself for this moment. ... He brought it. He really did."* In an interview with Oprah, Lance Armstrong is said to have admitted to doping, undoing years of staunch, angry denial. What does he have to gain from this? Will he try to get back into the professional cycling world? Will he point fingers? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian look for answers. *Read more from Neal Karlinsky/ ABC: abcnews.go.com

www.euronews.com Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has failed in his attempt to put his sex trial on hold until after the general election. Three Milan judges dismissed his lawyers' argument that the media magnate would not have time to attend the trial due to the vote, which is set for February 24 and 25. Berlusconi, who's 76, denies all charges in this latest court case which include paying for sex with a minor. The nightclub dancer at the centre of the scandal made a brief appearance in court. 20-year-old Morroccan Karima El Mahroug - who's stage name is "Ruby the Heartstealer" - was under 18 when the alleged affair took place. Berlusconi, pictured here with his new 27-year-old girlfriend, is leading his centre-right party into the election. He's still not confirmed whether he will run for prime minister while facing a possible 15 year prison sentence. Polls show his party is still trailing far behind the centre-left alliance, which is expected to win. Berlusconi stepped down as prime minister in 2011 amid several legal cases and as the Italian economy faced bankruptcy. He was replaced by technocrat Mario Monti. French fighter jets bombed targets in central Mali Saturday and were continuing strikes aimed at rebel strongholds on Sunday, Malian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Diarran Kone said. Sunday's raids were the latest in a French operation to help the Malian government stop advances by militant Islamist forces. France has sent several hundred troops to join the fight and plans more raids on Monday, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told Radio Europe 1. "We have to eradicate this terrorism," he said Sunday. Islamist rebels in Mali acknowledged Sunday that they had suffered heavy losses in a battle against the country's military and French troops. "This is a holy war. The deaths are normal," said Sanda Ould Boumama, spokesman for the rebel group Ansar Dine, which is linked to al Qaeda. "Our fighters are prepared to die for our cause," he told CNN by phone. One of the group's lieutenants, Iyad Ag Ghaly, was killed in the fight over the central town of Konna, security sources said.
