Miami in the 80's - Mariel Boatlift - Cocaine Cowboys
www.ImmigrationControlFlorida.com TIME MAGAZINE' article "PARADISE LOST" refers to the 125000 Mariel Cuban refugees that illegally invaded Miami-Dade County contained 50000 murderers, psychopaths, criminally insane, drug pushers, hitmen, enforcers, prostitutes and misfits that made "Miami the Murder Capital of the world with 621 murders. Joe Davis, the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner on WTVJ-TV called the murderers Worse than "animals". There were so many dead bodies that he rented a refrigerated truck to store The excess bodies because the morgue was full. Manny Diaz, attorney for SALAD Spanish American League Against Discrimination castigated Joe Davis for calling the Mariel Cuban refugees "animals" and demanded that WTVJ-TV retract Joe Davis' statements. Manny Diaz (presently the Mayor of Miami, Fla.) was one of the many Miami Cuban-Americans who demanded that all 125000 Refugees all come to Miami. By 1981, one year after they arrived, these refugee criminals cost Miami taxpayers $150 million, overwhelmed our schools, government agencies, jails and courts. The entire Rookie police class were either dead or put in prison.

I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).

This is a short trailer for the documentary I'm doing for my senior thesis. It is about Cubans who fled to the U.S. during the mass exodus known as the Mariel boatlift.
Ada Adams is featured in this trailer. She is telling her story of when she hired a boat captain out of the Keys to take she and her sister to Cuba to rescue their brothers.
Their story is amazing, and one that most people have never heard before. I've lived in North Florida my whole life, and until now, never knew any of the history of the Cuban-Americans and their struggle against Castro and his regime.
